AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Calculate AREA Of Cut And Fill Between Alignment And Surface Profile?
Aug 18, 2013How to calculate the AREA of cut and fill analogous to the volume of cut and fill between surfaces, but instead only between the alignment and the road profile in the prolfile view. From what I've read of similar posts a few people have had the same question but have been instructed how to do it with volumes as opposed to area. Also how to insert a table of cut and fill area analogous to the one you can inset from the volumes dashboard.

I used a heart fill pattern of the right 75% of the picture and the left 75% of the picture is selected overlapping the first fill in the background... I want to fill the selected background area with a flame fill pattern where it overlaps the selected portion of the heart pattern as well as the transparent area... 'overlay' looks better but Gimp is FAILING to fill the transparent areas, it ONLY fills the overlapped heart pattern portion of the selected content!!! I even tried filling the transparent area with 'white' then filling the selected area, but it STILL ONLY wants to overlay fill the heart pattern, it STILL leaves the rest alone!!! it doesn't matter if the background is white or transparent, it leaves that alone and ONLY fills the heart pattern area of selected portion of the image!!!

Mar 4, 2011The architect has a schedule set up that will schedule his room numbers and names. He draws spaces for each room.
I want to add perimeter and area to this. I copied this room schedule in the tool pallete, renamed it with "trial", added columns for perimeter and area, BUT STILL GET ? FOR VALUES!
I've looked everywhere and it should work. When I look at "properties" of the space it shows area and perimeter, but I can't figure out how to extract the info.

Is there a workaround to what I am trying to do? I just want to create a table that has a list of all the spaces sorted by name, give a quantity of the spaces and the combined area of all those spaces in one row of the table.
Roughly:
King 4 2000sf
Queen 2 1000sf
Suite 4 3000sf
My attached schedule gives a row for each space, except that it groups spaces of exact same areas. I want a single row for each room type.
Also, when working with spaces sometimes using Space_Add, Generate I am met with the response that a space already exists and no space can be added. The "phantom" space does not show up in the schedule, thawing all layers does not reveal any space and I've tried all my selection tricks to parse a space from the closed boundary that appears empty.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Cut Fill Surface From Existing Surface
Mar 1, 2013Im currently using an addon for Civil 3D called Novapoint. It allows me to create 3D models of surfaces made out of 3d faces and easily models cut and fill 3d-models for me.
The only thing i need to create a cut and fill model is one or several ground surfaces (existing ground, earth layers, rock etc. whatever i need) and a closed polyline/3Dpolyline that represents the level I want my cut and/or fill model.
I enter the spcifications I want such as; earth cut angle, rock cut angle, fill angle, select which surfaces i want to include in the model calculation and select the polyline.Novapoint then calculates the cut/fill model from the surfaces to the polyline and models the different cut/fill angles and gives me the results in a 3d-face model and a specification of the volyme of rock cut, earth cut an fill.
1. Novapoint is quite unstable and crashes alot
2. You cant create profiles out of 3d faces
3. Novapoint does not automaticly combine the start surfaces with the modeled cut/fill surface
4. A large surface made out of 3d-faces demands alot of computer power
So I want to how I do the same that Novapoint does for me in Civil 3D? (I have access to Civil 3D 2007-2013 depending on which one you're using)I know I can take the 3Dfaces i created in Novapoint and make a surface in Civil 3D with them but I want to exclude Novapoint completely.

Jun 22, 2013If you have a large project and many outside walls have large sections that are the same can you create exterior dimensions on a number of different levels that are tied together. In other words they are the same annotation done once for all those levels without cutting and pasting or doing the same dimensioning on the different levels, which is very error prone and the chances of different dimsions showing on different levels that are supposed to be the same is very large.
I am thinking of something like bing able to x-ref the dimensions like you can do in autocad. Is anything like this posssible in Revit?
Revit :: How To Add Callouts And Annotation
Dec 11, 2012I am used to Autocad Architecture where I typically detail out my sections. I show the top and bottom plates, gypsum wallboard, beam sections, ACT tile layout, etc...
In Revit, the annotation scale seems to be too small to make it look good. I just get thick lines at 1/4" scale - looks sloppy. I have detail set to fine, but it does not seem to do anything until I set the scale to 1-1/2"=1'-0" or greater.
How to actually take a section from start to finish on the sheet. Everyone just shows how you put the section mark down and it automatically creates a section view.... Thats great but there is a lot more to do in my mind, I think I know how to add the callouts and annotation but it does not seem very good if I am not pointing at the insulation or pointing to the beam, etc.

May 29, 2013I am trying to add the typical category of "glazing" to a door schedule, but when I add a door with glass into my project, I cannot make this information show up on my schedule. I need typical information such as "!/4" Temp" and "1" Insul" under the category of glazing. I added the "Door: Glass" heading in the schedule, but nothing appears when I add a glass door into the project. I was able to easily do this in AutoCAD Architecture.

Every dimension under the thickness column reads 0'-2" instead of just 2" or whatever the thickness may be. Apr 19, 2013So I've created a door schedule and added all the parameters I needed. But to get the "room name" to list and be associated with the door tags I had to choose either if the doors were going to a room or from a room, so I chose to, however, some of the doors swing are leaving the room so instead of tagging them with the corridor we want them associated with the room. But I can't edit the column the room names are in. If I click on a cell it gives me a drop menu on the side of what I can choose for that cell and it doesn't have the listed room that I need. It does not let me just type in the cell is there a way to fix this?! The blue highlighted name shows my option of what I can list as the room name or I can leave it blank, it lets me click inside the cell as if I could just put text in it but it actually doesn't show anything that I type.
