Does the tooltips on Label Parameters can be modified? I would like to customize the tooltips on label parameters, which currently default to "Edit Parameter"...lame-oh; that tells the user very little. Perhaps the developers could add a customize tooltip control in the Edit Label dialogue box. Can the tooltips be accessed through the database?

I created a project parameter (in order to group my sheets with my custom system) and I'd like to create a label on my titleblock that's the ability to show this project parameter atomatically.
I reckon it has something to do with shared parameters but how to use them.

We use electircal elements in AutoCAD dwgs that have labels to indicate the status of the element by phase. For instance on a floor plan we might have elctrical outlets that are existing (E), new (N), demo (D), etc. How does one do this efficietnly in REVIT? Is there a way to assign a paramter to grab the phase of the object and then adjust a label accordingly? This would be ideal because over time the element s might move from one phase to another such as from new to existing.

When I have a sheetmetal part with an iLogic rule in it and I delete a feature, Inventor sticks this garbage into my rule.

I am looking for a solid way of finding the Thickness parameter of a sheet metal part. I have tried two ways so far:
1. oCompDef.Parameters.Item(Thickness)
This works but if Inventor is installed with a different language pack like German for instance then it fails
2. oCompDef.Parameters.Item(1).Value
This also works but if the user started the part with a normal part template and then converts the part to a sheet metal part down the line, then this method fails.

I'm modeling un hold house and one of the exterior walls have variable thickness.
I don´t need two walls with different thicknesses but just one that is changing is own thickness along his development.

I'm trying to use a formula in a family that requires the host wall thickness.
I've setup an instance reporting parameter (dimensioned to the host wall faces) - which works fine in reporting the correct value.
But when I try to use that variable in a formula, I keep getting the error:
"Instance Parameters can't be used in Type Parameter formulas."
Is there a way of getting the reported dimension as a Type rather than an Instance - or is there another work around ?

how to create a floor or structural slab that is both sloped AND has a variable thickness?
I can do either, but not both. Thinking that I may need to create a generic mass.

I have a text file of several surveyed ponts throughout my model. I can select one of these points in my model and specify the coordinates of East/West, North/South, and elevation from this file, but how do I determine the angle from project north to true north from these surveyed points?

why the side view (Heavy Timber-Side.rfa) represents the thickness of the members rather than the face dimension? For example: A 2x10 (which isn't really heavy timber anyway) is shown 1-1/2" thick rather than 9-1/4" when the side view family is used to draw items.
Wish the family names had been a little more logical (i.e. Heavy Timber-Thickness.rfa and Heavy Timber-Face.rfa)
Seems like these families should at least coordinate with the section view so the top view was thin and the side view was wider.

When I try and change the thickness or move most walls in the project I get multiple room volume warnings that pop up, in some cases 80 odd. These rooms in question can be on the opposite side of the building (60 Meters) and 3 or 4 stories up from the altered wall. So there is no way that all room volumes are overlapping. I've checked all the room volume heights, level placements and that rooms are all bound fine, which they are. I just can't figure it out.
I've figured out a work around but this can be a little time consuming and a little bit fiddly. Ideally I'd like Revit functioning properly and not have to keep reminding my team about the correct way to approach a wall change every time 80 new warnings pop up.
I have heard through the grapevine that this may be a bug that occurs in 2012 due to "internal disputes" we are unable to upgrade to later versions of Revit.

I have made a drawing template with a title block that has iProperties of Type Drawing Properties, Property, Number of Sheets <Number of sheets> although not listed as a Parameter. Someone suggested that I tag it this way. Similar to what is described as on page 545 of Mastering Inventor 2012 By Curtis Waguespack. I can find the iProperties of the Sheet Number in the Model but I cannot find where to modify the input for the “of” field. Or where does The Format Text, Type Drawing Properties, Property, <Number of sheets>, field link to?
And or what is this Edit Property Fields, dialogue box for. I cannot change “edit” any of the fields. Is it just me or what?

I have been working on creating windows for the place I work. I want to make my windows so they are quick and easy to create new ones without having to add in new information like if the glass is tempered or if its an egress window. I would like to set up formulas for these. I am stuck at my egress window parameter. I have included an image of what I am working on and the calculations and formulas I have so far. I would like to have my egress check box to say yes if the Opening Width is greater then 20", the opening height is greater then 24" and the opening sf is greater then 5.7 Sf. How would I set this parameter up?

If I use this code it will give me the insertion point for a block
(setq ent (car (entsel "
Select Main Object: ")))
(setq InsPt (assoc 10 (entget Ent)))
Now if I try to use this for a surface label and try to get the insertion point
(setq ent (car (entsel "
Select Main Object: ")))
(setq oEnt (vlax-Ename->Vla-Object ent))
(vlax-dump-object oEnt)
I dont see anything that will get the insertion point.

I have set 2 parameters in the Family Editor so they 'Group Under' Dimensions, yet when I load into a project (that the family object has been deleted out of via the Project Browser), I find instead they are Grouped under 'Other'.
One of the offending objects attached.
I've done this 2 ways, once by opening within Revit the Family Editor, making the change and then loading back into the file, only to find nothing has changed, and also then by again opening up in the family editor from Revit to find ditto; and separately by opening up the file directly in Explorer and then loading into the open project.
Not an enormous problem, just annoying as I want to group Dimensions parameters naturally enough under Dimensions!

I find the visibility parameter a very useful option when building families. Unfortunately it doesn't work when exporting IFC. The elements set to not visible are visible in the IFC exports.
I also experienced IFC export issues with the use of phases. An element created at phase 1 and set to demolished at phase 2, will not be visible in the IFC export of phase 1.
The IFC Exporter for Revit 2012 v1.0.4.msi was used when running into these issues. How to be able to have correct IFC exports using the visibility parameter ?

when I insert a window family the cut plane Revit uses is that of the family rather than that of the view. This causes a lot of problems for us when we need to cut the same window at different levels in different views and the window itself should look different. The window itself is built to look differnet at 3 ranges of cut plane height. However, if I try to control this throught yes/no visibility parameter it affects all views. I fail to make it view specific. Is there any way to make an instance parameter or view specific parameter for the cut plane/ visibility of parts in the window family. It is such a basic need for architects and I fail to understand its absence in the Revit. Generaly speaking one should be able to control what you see in each plan section view. It's an essential thing in architectural drawing.
