For some reason I cannot generate a topo surface using the attached autocad file.
The levels are on a layer called LEVELS. The points next to the levels are on layer "0".
Some of the levels are negative ... ie: below sea level.
No topo surface gets generated and no error message appears.
I received from our client a dwg file. i follow the steps in creating a topo surface file from a dwg within revit. However, revt include also the zero Z-elevation points within the file. And so it igave me a very weird result of the toposurface.
Know any good procedure in preparing a dwg file before importing/linking to revit or rather excluding all zero Z-elevation points.
I am trying to create a mass surface that is being cut by a topo plane. What I am trying to achieve or show is a height setback set from the existing topo to a height of 35'. I've tried to cutting or joining the two geometries but this will not work. There is no way to snap t the intersection of were the mass and the Topo surface meet. Is there a way to change a Topo surface into a mass? Any other way to achive this instead of massing and topo surfaces?

I promoted the existing surface shortcut into my drawing, then created a cropped surface to be put in a new drawing. After creating the cropped surface the new file shows that a surface has been created, however, the surface contains no data. I am using c3d 2012.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I select all of my building pads and topo and move them vertically up or down by the SAME amount, the cut and fill volumes change. Apparently the cut/fill is being calculated relative to something that is NOT THE GRADED SURFACE. Maybe the Level line? I don't know. The volumes shouldn't change at all when I move both the topo and pads together! How can I trust these numbers?

I have a project involving 3 programs. I am creating a planned development in 3d to be 3d printed when finished. The project is a 5 acre tract containing 8 buildings. I have built the surface in C3D and each building in Revit. The buildings are not in the same Revit file. For my solid work, I will bring the files over into 3ds Max Design to section into smaller quadrants to build in the 3d printer.
The questions:
Would it be better to import the surface into Revit to merge surface and buildings together?
Would it be better to import the buildings into C3D to merge entities?
Would it be better to bring those entities into 3ds Max and then merge them into one? Will 3ds Max Design allow me to insert entities accurately in the environment?
I have a topograpic map that I want to create a transperency. I have scanned then map and am trying to remove everything except the roads and topograpic lines. I am basically familiar with photoshop.

The issue i'm having now is that when i create a comparison surface, the tinn lines are created on the same layer as my existing surface. what's weird is that it didn't use to do this. so now whenever i try to turn off the tinn in the "edit surface style" all surfaces are either turned on or off. any way to fix this so that each new surface is given it's own display properties?

Sometimes the topo's we recieve already has a boundary in it, but often, there is not. So we have to manually draw a polyline around the whole extent of the topo, which can take a long time.

It needs to show up in my plans. I have the same problem getting floors to show surface patterns too. Using Revit 2011. A friend gets it to work on his computer with the same version.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am exporting gbXML file from Revit Architecture 2013. And I am looking at the format of the name of the surface element. According to the Autodesk wikihelp, I understand that it is composed in a form as : orientation-space-(other space)-exposure-type-sequence number-(opening type)
It means if the surface is an interior wall surface, there will be two adjacent space names recored here. such as N-101-102-E-W-D-84
But I notice that in my gbXML file, I have some terms like : B-2-2-I-F-10, B-2-2-I-F-16, X-1-1-I-O-6, and X-1-1-I-O-15, I notice that when the orientation is "Bottom" or it is a type of "air", the space names will repeated twice.
I created a volumetric mass and then i tried to put a roof on a upper surface curvilinear very complex, it got error on application roof and i'm not able to resolve

I have a road that leads to a curved highway on ramp, and lets say I have multiple drainage structures along the curb line.
-Instead of the symbols and labels being orientated on view or world, can they be dynamically orientated parallel to a horizontal alignment around the curve?
-In doing so making the symbols/labels not adjust no matter what the ucs view is in model space or paperspace?

I have created some surfaces in Civil 3D ...the client wants to render them with Revit but isn't able to. Any way to make my surfaces compatible with Revit ? I'll admit, I don't know which version he is using.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Revit LT 2014, I've tried unsuccessfully to override the color of topographic surface edges in my model to white, so the edges don't show up in plan views. I've tried through the Object Styles menu, Override Graphics In View By Element, and Override Objects In View By Category, but nothing has worked. These overrides have worked for me in the past in previous Revit Arch versions, so I don't know if LT just doesn't have that capability, or it's a bug.
I can't simply extend the topo surface past the view window edges (I only want to show contour lines on my site, since they've been surveyed, but the neighboring site has not been surveyed, so I don't want to guess at them). I really just want to hide the toposuface boundary edge.
Is there a way to determine the surface area of a staircase? For example when you click on a floor, the properties window automatically tells you the area. Can you do this with stairs? And is it possible to put this information onto a schedule?

Why is it that when I change one floor's surface (tile,carpet, ect.) and then make a seperate floor on the same floor but with a different surface, it changes BOTH floors like they are instances of each other?
How can I add a surface to individual floors on the same level? Ex. Carpet in living room, Tile in Bathroom.
So, I've made topography, cut it with building pad, and have those sides between topography and building pad, which I want to paint or attach material to (see picture). And can't find tool to do it. Blue arrow points surface to be painted, but I don't want to change surface pointed by red arrow.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn those rare occasions my firm does it's own civil drawings, we like to see the new countour lines as thick solid lines with the old existing/demolished lines as light hidden lines. Is there any way to display both of these lines after you've graded a surface/region. I feel like it has something to do with the phase filter dialog but can't get it to work. Currently the only way I can get it to display both properly is to switch my visual style to wireframe, which is hardly a good option when I've got a building on the site.

What I need is to either extrude or sweep this profile as a surface, but obviously Create Form only gives me the solid option.
How do I go about doing this?
Is it possible to apply a decal to a curved surface? I need to place an image on a wrapping projector screen. When I try to place the decal, it only will choose 1 of the arcs or one of the straight peices. I need the one decal to stretch over the entire projector screen. I have attached a screen shot so you can see what I am trying to achieve.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro in anticipation of running Photoshop on it. I installed Photoshop and tried to do some sketches. I created a new file and started sketching. I Immediately felt like something was wrong. I checked my brush settings and saw the pressure sensitivity was not available. Everytine I tried to turn it on it was marked with an exclamation point.
Does Adobe is supporting the new pressure sensitive pen from microsoft, or if there is some sort of setting that I am missing? I have tried sketchbook pro 2011, and that works amazingly well with the pen.
We have drawing "A" that contains a surface (call the surface "SurfaceA").
We have another drawing "B", that contains an alignment and a reference to"SurfaceA"
The user created EG profiles in drawing "B", and has been working on this drawing periodically.
Today all of a sudden when he opens Drawing "B", the EG profiles are missing. When you look at "SurfaceA" in Drawing "B", there is no data. We synced, we made sure of the association of the drawings to the projects, etc. etc.
I verified the data shortcuts are OK, and verified that both drawings are in good shape (via Recover and Audit)
But wait.....here is the crazy part. If you shut down Drawing "B" and open it say a dozen times, once or twice in that stretch, "surfaceA" shows up and the EG profiles will appear OK too. It's feels very random.....
