I received a linked revit drawing. The sender highlighted my walls the color blue in 3D mode.I would like to diferentiate the wall colors even futher - i.e. red, green, etc...but how do I do this?

I can make a wall the color that I want, but ALL that type walls become that color. Is there any way to make several different colors of rooms witihout creating literally dozens of different wall types?

2. am confused to know how to configure the units setting, and if someone set mm or cm in modal space does the auto-CAD detect the respective unit setting? e.g. one is using mm and he/she offset 1 unit, say mm, and suddenly i want to change the one unit offset to be m or cm, how does it work?

Any way to get a wall sweep that's set up in the type/structure properties to follow a wall if that walls profile has changed. For example, in the image below, I've split the wall and adjusted it's profile to create some cheesy angled parapet. How do i get my wall cap to follow along? I thought splitting it and changing it's height would work, but no. And if I change the profile without splitting the wall the wall cap just runs right through the wall, as if the profiel was never even changed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have to draw a bulkhead wall that connects to a full height wall and a gyp bd ceiling. This causes the entire end of the full height wall to skew in line with the butt joint above the ceiling level. I tried Wall Joins but all the options screw up the bottom half of the wall which needs to remain in line with the paired opposite. I also tried editing the sketch of the wall profile but Revit couldn't keep the elements joined. I tried trimming the two walls back together afterwards but the wall profile dominates and prevents a clean join above the ceiling.
Surely there's a way to have different kinds of joins at different heights?
I am trying to align the curtain wall with the edge of the concrete slab/face of wood framed wall (Core). I have tried to align and move however the whole wall moves as well as the edge of the slab. How I can move the Curtain wall leaving the other elements in place?

When I change the wall type to one with a different thickness, I cannot control which face of the wall remains fixed and which face moves. eg: change from 130mm to 250mm screws up my room width. How do I do this?
I am trying to make a floorplan of my house in Revit 2013, but I am having an issue when it comes to one wall in my house. I have an opening in the Master Bedroom that leads to the bathroom. This wall has a weird arched-like opening in it and I have no clue how to make this in Revit. I have attached a sketch.
Also, my exterior walls are 7' tall but the interior walls start at 7' and go up to 8' once in the middle of the house and reduce back to 7". How does one set that up in Revit?
EDIT: May have made the image too small to see, but the top is not arched, it is actually half of a decagon.
I have a question about wall profiles. I want to make a profile on a wall so I can make Zinc Panels on the wall that are 10" X 20". I've attached a picture of what I'm going for. I'd like it to have a 1/2" spacing between them and with a joint depth of 1" and I'd like to do this is the wall type so that I can use this wall in multiple places rather than having it model-in-place. Anyway I have made a profile that is 1" X 10" so that it can become my panel profile. But when I go to add it to the wall as a wall sweep as I have seen people do I get hung up on how to make it tile up the wall and also I don't understand how to make the profile so that it is 20" wide. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to work with linked colors. I understand and can successfully manipulate both "Tint of another color' and "Shade of another color." I'm having a difficult time getting "Linked to another color to work as expected. The help document doesn't seem to offer much.
+ I create a named color called "S0" ('s'-zero). It appears on the left of the color pallet as a square.
+ I create a 2nd named color called "s1", and instruct that it's to be "Linked to another color". The color that I select as the Parent is "S0".
+ I see no way to control what linking attributes are to be assigned, aside from simply checking on/off the H, S and V option boxes.
i always use corel for designing an advertorial matter, but there's always something that bothering me when i get the print results.. why does the colors especially blue and green always looks so dark, infact, they became brown and purple..

The color pallette is also appearing with the same blue-purple colors. In the layers pallette - the icon of the image appears in the normal colors and no filters, etc. have been applied. In model space, my walls all show with correct colors. However, when I go into a tab, the viewport is showing my walls in different colors than what I have specified. There are no overrides within the viewport. The display is 2D wireframe. If I change the display to 3D wireframe, the colors change to the correct ones, but the dimension hashes are also in wireframe, not filled. Why the 2D display is changing my wall colors and how I can change these to show as I want them to?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with the linework reading properly. I link a CAD dwg. to my revit model and once its in my model the linework doesnt read as it does in autocad. I have dashed or hidden lines in my CAD plan and once I link it in revit they show up as solid. I am thinking it has something to do with the LTscale in autocad?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving issue with linked DWG which disappears arbitrarily? It is still linked and the visibility of Imported categories is set to ON, but DWG is not visible in a view. When we were linking it we set Current view only (so we can not see this DWG in other view than in the particular one).The solution is to remove DWG and link it again..What may cause it is that we copied the DWG into all levels because it contains floorplans of all levels. In every level we moved the DWG into correct position and it is working for a while. We did not find a moment when it disappears .

I have a model setup and linked a DWG file. The DWG is a topo survey drawn in real co-ordinates. The DWG is linked center to center then then I moved and rotated it to suit the orientation of my new building in Project North. See image 01.
I've then aquaired the co-ordinates from the DWG.
I've change to True North and rotated the view. See image 02
All seems to be OK. If I detach and re-attach this DWG using the shared co-ordinated it ends up in the correct place so I've started work on my model.
However, I've noticed that when I close and re-open my model or force ther DWG to reload it shifts position and rotates so I have to detach and reattach. See image 03
I linked in a dwg floor plan and it shows on the first floor but not in the 2nd floor or any others views. I thought as long as you left "current view only" in the Link CAD Dialog box unchecked it should show in all views.
View 3 Replies View RelatedUsing Revit 2014, I link in a dwg file. I open a view and using V/G overides for Imported Categories, I turn off the Acad layers I don't want to see. Then the next time my dwg file is updated, the V/G will remain the same and I won't have to reset the layer views. Now I duplicate this view for additional views I need in my project. But I need to apply a different View Template to each view. This destroys the original V/G settings that I had set up for the dwg file.Is there a way to set up my linked file so that it retains the layer on/off settings through each update and lock it. Then I can apply different View Templates to introduce other characteristics without altering the desired layer settings.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Revit model (A) being linked into another Revit Model (B). In model B I set the VG of the linked model A to By Linked View. Now, when I do this I see all my Element Keynotes, but non of my User Keynotes show.
Things tested:
Created models C and D to try in fresh environment - All Keynotes show up
Created model E and linked A into it - User Keynotes do not show up
Overwrote the Keynote Family in A and retested - User Keynotes do not show up
So this means there is some problem in Model A that it is not pushing the User Keynotes through when linked.
I have created a big and complex Revit model, in Revit 2013. It's now time for me to print the sheets - I want them in PDF and DWF. But I really have some problems doing that. When I print to PDF it takes about 20 minutes for it to print 1 drawing - and it will not be complete - elements are missing compared to the original view. Often Revit stops working - and it's the same story when I try to save a DWF.
I think the reason why I have the problem is because of the complexity of the building's geometry. Have modeled it by importing SAT. files from Rhino - to create the form. The result is great but the file is now 370 Mb. I'm trying to link the model in to a new Revit project to minimize the file, and hopefully get the drawings printed in PDF and DWF. In the the new project I can't see the sheets from the linked file though.
Is there a way to link the sheets to another procjet?
We have multiple linked Revit files from consultants in the same hospital Revit model. How can we turn off all grids and levels in all of the linked files globally. We want to avoid having to do it individually for each view & each linked file.
This project is currently in Revit 2011. If not 2011 is it possible in 2012?
I thought that Cut Profile would be working with linked models (with By Linked View) by now. I know it didn't work a few years ago, but we've just tried it in 2014 and it still isn't correctly displaying views that have had the Cut Profile tool used on them when linked into another file (using By Linked View).

When I look at the linked files, though, I can only see the existing construction. I also know how to copy/monitor levels, but I want to view the architect's room elevations in my model. How can I copy the architect's design options and specific views into my model?
