Dec 23, 2012Is there a possibility of drawing carpet and/or flagstones? I need to draw them in different rooms, not on the whole floor. I have the Autocad Revit 2013 version.

Revit :: Carpet Border - Create / Divide Parts?
Feb 1, 2013I have need of creating a 12" wide (contrasting) carpet border for an area. The main carpet area will have a pattern. The border will be a complementary solid color carpet.I attempted to use Create & Divide Parts to do this, but get strange results.
1. Create Parts > Select Floor.
2. Divide Parts
3. Edit Sketch > draw two closed loops to define the part area.
4. Exit sketch - entire sketch shifts to the right by a foot or so.

May 26, 2013I have a font (KG Party on the Rooftop) That is an outline font. I am trying to use a picture of carpet to fill the middle of the font. I tried using a clipping mask but it seems to only get a part of the font (the part that extrudes- this font was created to look 3d). When I type the font onto the carpet picture I can see the font exactly how I want it.
How do I remove the carpet background for everything but the font?

Jul 30, 2013My plans are printing fine, but elevations and any 3d view print with the majority of the drawing missing. I'm guessing it has to do with the raster images used on walls for textures, but besides that I'm stumped. I'm trying to print in realistic view, because of the material textures that need to show up.
I've turned on sun lighting, as well as tried various PDF printers, but no change. When I go to the print preview it appears to preview incorrectly. The file is pretty small as the project is just a modest house. Pretty much all the settings are 'right out of the box'.
When I shift back to just 'Hidden line' mode and look at it in print preview it seems to print the drawing fine, but then the titleblock and firm logo dissapear. The actual PDF when printed is fine.
I'm working on revit 2013, in WIndows 7 inside parllels on a macbook pro.

Jul 17, 2011I have a Revit problem that seems straightforward, but not to me at the moment. We have a label in the title block. The label comprises 3 parameters concatenated with “-“ separators:

Of those 3 parameters

Revit :: Parameters In Custom Drawing Sheets
Dec 13, 2012Having now worked out a method of adding custom labels to sheets via a shared parameter file I want to know if there is an easier way of making these parameters fully functional in any project without having to set project parameters in the file.
The method is (assuming starting with New > Family > Titleblock or some sort of Sheet family ):
Create shared param .txt file (Manage>Shared Params>Create) - then browse for that new file to load (within Edit family sheets)Group>New then Params>new (make sure param names are unique and distinct from system parms for text labels) - set Type to TextThen addtext label (add param at bottom LHS > Select > Edit > Browse to open shared param file) then add your custom param to Label Params table.When the sheet is loaded into a project the custom labels will not be editable.
This is the annoying bit having to set up proect params in each project:Manage > Proj Params > Add > Shared Param > Select > Edit > Browse to shared param file > select each custom param in term > OK >Group Param = Title Text and set Category to Sheets. The custom parameter will now be editable (each shows as ? and not been able to find a way of showing a default label text.
Is it really necessary to do this (step 5) with every project file or is there a way of loading a custom sheet and setting project parameters automatically?
Also is there any way of adding (or editing) params to the System Family for drawing sheets. An example is scale where the sys param updates to the first loaded view scale, then if a different scale vies is loaded, changes to "As indicated". I prefer to quote the main scale. Additionally the System file date param is the current date. My preference is set the date to first issue and then list revision dates separately (which is a common company standard in the UK).

Dec 23, 2012I'm drawing ref lines in south view and thats no problem, and works fine, but when I change to East view, the problems start to increase, once I draw a ref line, the line is not visible, and I get a "warning" that says: "None of the created elements are visible in Elevation: East View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings."
What's that all about? I can't seem to get the line to show no matter what I do.
Revit :: Placing Drawing In A Sheet Is Not Flexible
Oct 1, 2012Placing a drawing in a sheet is not flexible, I’m wondering about the best practices to place a drawing in the title block/sheet.
For example, in the AuotCAD, I’m used to have a title block, say appropriate for A3, for my drawing to make sure that it will fit well inside the intended paper with the aimed scale.
Here in the Revit, I was struggling to place my drawing in the sheet as there is no snapping or tools for performing this issue the same way we have it in the AutoCAD.

Jan 13, 2012I have a installation of Revit 2012 (64bit win7) that some times stops drawing dialogs and Revit menu (the big R-button) in front (or something). If I press open, the dialog only pops up if I press somewhere in the revit window, and windows plays that DING-sound (like when you do something you shouldn't do). It feels like a menu draw issue.. The R-button just never displays a menu when I press it. A restart of Revit fixes the problem, but its annoying and we all know Revit doesn't start very quick...

Revit :: Changing Line Scales From AutoCAD Drawing?
Mar 1, 2013I made a SitePlan in AutoCAD with all of the proper line scales set, but when I imported the file into Revit, they were all solid lines, not hidden or phantom styles as they should be. I fully exploded the site plan within Revit, but i still have yet to see a possible way to adjust the line type scales. So far it has only been telling me about how to change the line weight, which is not what I'm trying to do. If there is any information i can begiven on whether it is even possible to adjust the line type scale in Revit from an AutoCAD file

Sep 22, 2011After using the program for a few weeks it appeared the error message "An error has occurred while drawing the contents of this window" only when I open the 3D view. I reset the Windows user profile and everything is back to normal operation. Today has come out again this error screen. Video drivers are certified and the board is a Nvidea Quadro and normally I have no problems. To test I created a new user and everything works fine.What could alter the software related to user profile?

The image correctly appears in the sheet, and even in the "preview" window while exporting to DWF. However, the DWF file does not show the image. Is this a hidden export setting or a view setting in Design Review?

Jul 27, 2012I have this file that won't open in AutoCAD Architecture 2012, well let me rephrase that, it won't finish opening. It has 4 or 5 xref's attached. I was able to open this same file using 2010. Through process of elimination I was able to determine that a file that was exported from Revit MEP 2012 was the problem. When that file was detached the drawing would open just fine. To make things more interesting, I am able to open the Revit Export file just fine using 2012. What diabolical combination of event has happened to cause this SNAFU.

Dec 10, 2013Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.

Oct 13, 2013I am trying to put together a lisp routine for exporting a Civil3D drawing to basic autocad entities and convert it to a clients layer standards.
I don't want any user input, so I see two problems with the routine at the moment.
Step 2. SAVEAS - I want the drawing to be saved in the same directory as the current drawing, either called "CLIENT_export.dwg" or preferably "Export_{current drawing name}.dwg". If the dwg exists I want it either to overwrite or increment a suffix number.
Step 4. At the moment it askes the user for a selection, I want it to select "ALL"

Sep 11, 2012My Autocad has started a new behavior. When (in Win7) I double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer, Autocad opens the drawing file and also starts a new drawing, all in the same session of Autocad. Is there some system variable or Windows variable that controls this?
