I installed the other day Photoshop CS2.After a while working with it i wanted to select a layer but s the Ctrl+click command didn't do nothing. Anybody knows if there is another shortcut to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Ctrl + Click for layer select does not work any more or should I say properly. When I use Ctrl + Click instead of going to the layer it only jumps to the folder containing that element rather than the layer it's self. Is this new with CS4 or is something not working?

I am helping my intern with a project. I use CS2, but he has CS3. for some reason, I cannot get ctrl+click (to select all pixels in that layer) to work on his CS3...
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn PS CS1 i used to be able to hold Control and click a layer to make the contents of that layer a selection but that don't appear to work in CS2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat happened to this shortcut? Now it just opens the Open dialog. I used to always use this.
Any way I can add a custom shortcut for this?
just starting using cs2 v9.0 and found out that the usual layer selecting by pressing ctrl and clicking on the layer did not work. it really drive me crazy. and why they change the linked layer feature, there are no longer little box to linked layers anymore.
ctrl+click thing
Hi guys, I have been using CS2 since its release but I didn’t discover this small nuance until yesterday, and needless to say it unnerved me quite a bit. In PS7 I used to use a trick to achieve a certain effect in some of my designs, making a pattern or single-color image on one layer, ctrl-clicking that layer to make it a selection, and then using that selection to delete other parts of my image. I liked this method as it allowed for me to save the particular selection, and always have that layer available to go back to in case of future use. Since I haven’t done graphic work in a while (mostly digital painting at the moment) I didn’t realize this change was made, either that, or I don’t know how to achieve a similar ends using CS2 that I did with PS7. If anyone understands what I’m asking, and can offer a bit of assistance it would be much appreciated, I am doing a menu layout and design for a local day-spa and I was hoping to do something interesting with their preexisting logo.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow can I select ALL non-transparent pixels from a layer?
Â
- Ctrl + click doesn't work (it seems to have a 50% tolerance - my opacity 7% and 40% pixels don't get selected);
- The magic wand tool with 0% tolerance does work (when I click on a transparent pixel it selects ALL opacity 0% pixels around it and then I just have to inverse selection), BUT my image has a lot of holes with transparent areas and selecting them one by one would be tedious.
For some reason when I make a selection using CTRL+Click it never fully matches the cutout of the layer I am mimicking. There is always trim. I've posted a picture to best describe what is happening.Â
Fig A.
I've made a cutout using the background eraser. Because of this you can see how the cutout appears to be somewhat transparent around the edge.
Â
Fig B.Â
When placed on 50% gray the hair trim is as detailed as I wanted. It's a satisfying result.
Â
Fig C.Â
I now make a selected of this semi transparent cutout by cimply CTRL+Clicking the layer.Â
Â
Fig D.
I now duplicate the original (not cutout) and use this selection to cutout again (don't ask why) but the cutout doesn't match 100%. It's close, but it simply doesn't match. I've also tried using this selection to make a mask on the non cutout image and the edge is exactly the same.
Â
I thought some auto anti-alias may be turned on but I can't seem to find anything. I really need a duplicate of this cutout to match precisely.
I frequently encounter this problem across numerous versions of PS (CS4 - CS6)I like to CTRL+click on my layers to select them for convenience. If in the layers panel, I have a Layer Mask selected (that is, the white border highlight is around the alpha mask thumnail) and the mask is unlinked from the layer itself (there is not a link icon bewteen the layer thumb and alpha mask thumb), the CTRL+click feature seems to be disabled.
Â
I have to relink the mask to the layer in order to restore the functionality. This occurs regardless of the order of any of the layers in question. Is this correct?
I'm working on something where I had the text conform to a curve. Now I would like to make the curve path in visible, and I was able to search for instructions on how to do that except that I'm finding them mystifying. I read "you can select a single item inside a group with Ctrl click," but when I go to the group in the layers gallery, the text and curve are treated as one item, and I see no way to separate the two.

View 6 Replies View Relatedas the place I work at recently upgraded their PS version to CS6 and basically rendered my Intuos 4 completely useless because of the damn Alt/Ctrl modifier, which seems to control the "drag to create a copy of the layer function" regardless of the tool you're using.
Â
It might be specific for my region, but Alt+Ctrl or Alt Gr modifer is used in order to reach certain keystokes, such as ], [, @, so when by default the brush size function on my wacom is linked to a "[" (alt+ctrl+f windows function), my tablet completely flips out and starts sending a mix of Alt, Ctrl and Alt + Ctrl function controls instead of the [ which I'm trying to use.
Â
Alt + w/e functions work just fine, but I can't use any modifer using the alt+ctrl+w/e combo that involves creating a symbol, even while using the keyboard. For example, I can use the alt+ctrl+z command to undo something, but if I linked my brush tool to a "§", which is invoked by calling the alt+ctrl+m windows command, it will act as a normal ctrl + m command and open the curves window.
I don't know what happened when i opened my autocad it looks like the image below Untitled.jpg
also if i will right click on the drawing space, nothing happens, but below or in the command window, i can, also for example i drew a line, and i want to redo, the "CTRL" function using ctrl+Z is disabled, what happened with this one?
In 5.5 I could choose File...Export...as Gif, from the drop down menu.
In Photoshop 7 I don't have that option.Where is it now?
Also, about Illustrator 10... when I open a Photoshop file in Illustrator 10 and select the eyedropper tool I am unable to sample any color from the PSD file.
I had to reset prefs, so I deleted the .psp and located my custom file. It didn't work. I had weird happenings, like all the crop tool would show is crop in pixels, which refused to change to inches. So I reloaded defaults. Later, I found another copy on a different HD of the same pref file, loaded that and it ran fine, until I tried to use my custom hotkey setup. All gone!! I am back to default settings. I looked for the saved version, but all I find is the default file. Is it saved somewhere except the Short cut folder, and if so, where, and if not, why not? How can I have created custom settings, saved them then lose them to reset prefs?
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust installed CS4 and was checking to make sure all the things I use on a regular basis is there. It seems that the Contact Sheet II has been removed. I found it up here on the download extra plug-in page but still didn't show up when I downloaded the plug-in. Thought I installed them correctly, but maybe not. Need this badly, use it for printing out thumbnails of all photo shoots.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed PS CS6 this evening on my 32-bit Win7 laptop and on my 64-bit Win7 workstation.
Everything went just fine for the installation on both PCs. I always go about setting up my Preferences right away, and I immediately noticed the handy toolbar icon in PS for jumping over to Bridge is gone.
I see that CNTL + ALT + O will do it, but hey! Once in Bridge, the toolbar icon to jump back to PS is still there (the little boomerang icon). Is it really gone, or is there something that I need to change to have it suddenly re-appear?
I'm trying to use the rect marquee tool to do a selection and then crop a photo but when I do nothing happens.
Â
A couple of strange things have/are happening:
Â
-At one point, while I was in transform selection I there was added space around the marquee, which became the new edge, as opposed to the marquee itself.
Â
-The marquee is in the shape of a rounded rectangle.
i am doing the P-47 tutorial but on the Add detail to the air intake: I need to do the show on X-RAY but then when i pressed ALT+X nothing happened.

When using the text too, some letters kick out of the text tool and open other tool options. Small "l" opens the blend tool. Small "b" opens path tool. Big "B" opens bucket fill.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had to reinstall CS5 after a new Windows installation. Never had a problem with it before, but now I have the issue where if I click on a tool that has sub-tools, it now expands to show them. Before, to access them, I had to click and hold for them to appear. Now with them expanding on the first click, it's interrupting my work flow.
Â
Additional issues have arisen while I'm here, such as, when doing web work, I'll change the rectangular marquee to single pixel horizontal (e.g.), make the selection, do what I want with it, then press M to adjust another single pixel line, but it'll return to the full rectangular marquee, like it resets.

I'm running a test at the moment with Open GL disabled, to test drivers or display issues, but it's doing the same thing.

Just reinstalled Photoshop CS5 after needing to reinstall Windows 7. Now instead of being to just grab the tool I want, it produces the flyout each time and I have to re-choose what I want to use. This is rather annoying and time consuming, if I am using the same tool.
Can it be coming from Windows or just Photoshop. I did try resetting the preferences and nothing changed.
