View 1 RepliesI have some problems with Bolt Connection Component Generator. For placement I choose Concentric, i choose all references, but I can't select Diameter. It is stuck to 10mm and i can't change it.
I am using Inventor Profesional 2013
After I create bolt connection by select the "termination" and all the fasteners, the length of bolt is fixed. How can I change the length of bolt?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a plugin out there that does the following effect :
Seems like it would be simple enough to create manually (albeit require some time), but even more simple to automate through a 1-click plugin, if it's out there.
Does any existing action or plugin that produces a realistic "cut-out template / spray paint" effect like the one seen here?
I know I could accomplish this manually, but it would take a lot longer and I have a series of these I need done.
I'm wondering if there's a plugin to do a shader effect sort of like this photo. Something almost comic-bookish, using dots and such.I've looked briefly at the grid-based plugins, but haven't come up with anything solid.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Paint.net (love it!) and was messing around with effects and colors when I stumbled upon this one adjustment/edit . That allowed you to select several colors and make a a threshold and other cool effects with only the colors you selected previously. I thought it was really cool, but I didn't save the photo.

View 2 Replies View RelatedQ1: I am trying to do something that has always baffled me in 3ds Max. Something very easy to do in AutoCAD! Being a technical animator alot of my client supplied models are often missing components. Most notably bolts and other fasteners! This tends to look bad if they are missing so I take the time to put the proper fastener (in the EXACT center) of each hole. Pretty easy to do with AutoCAD snaps and a solid model but what about 3ds max?
Q2: The motor when imported from an ACIS file has the pivot set to the center of the motor. Unfortunately this pivot is off center of the motor shaft because of the electrical box on the side. How can I move the pivot to the center of the motor shaft accurately? Can I somehow move the pivot to the center of a sub-object shaft selection? Having this pivot (or an appropriate dummy object) at the exact center is critical when aligning other rotating objects. Otherwise the wobble looks bad!
The attached images is a motor (body object) with four bolt holes in the base that need to be filled with the bolt (4 times). how I might achieve this easily as well as Q2. Keep in mind that I will be doing this for hundreds of bolts in some cases.
trying to draw a hex nut in isometric...I've got the ellipse with the inside/outside dimensions but as far as placing the lines and connecting them to make the hexagon perimeter I keep coming up wrong..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a dynamic bolt that has a nut on it that can move back and forth but is constrained to the max distance set by the bolt length. I want one line type between the head of the bolt and a different line type between the end of the bolt and the nut.
Currently if I take my nut past the end of the bolt, the lines are all messed up?I'm new to dynamic blocks but liking them.
How to use dynamic simulation, i am creating a bench vise and woud like to animate it going in and out how would i do that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've assembled a bolt and a slide block that is constrained to a base plate and am able to put everything in motion. I have the slide block constrained to slide the distance of the base plate and when I reach the end the bolt continues to rotate when, if this was a real part, should stop. How can I get this bolt to stop once the slide block reaches its ending constraint?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project in wikiHelp under Inventor tutorials, Content Center, Create iMates. When I pull the object up in an assembly I can create an iMate and it will show that I made one. But when i go to the next page (Place Content Manually Using iMates), I can't get the bolt to snap to the iMate inside the object, the bolt just stays in one position the whole time.

1. When placing pumps,bolt-on walkways etc..etc..on to a metal frame at the assembly level do you place the pumps/walkways first and then add the bolt holes to the frame or do you create the bolt holes first in the frame and then place the pump/walkways on to the holes?
Trying to do some bolt pattern center lines. Been doing them for years and can do them old school way. But was wondering if there is a better ways. If you put a circle from the center of the bolt circle to the center of the bolts and change it to center the hashes never line up. So I always do small center line sections on each bolt hole. Then array it around to cover the entire bolt circle. But that gets time consuming. I am now doing a lot of projects with bolt circles and wondered if there was a better method.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to draw a "u bolt" in an isometric drawing. I found one solution, that served the purpose of giving the customer the general idea of the stands we are trying to sell them, but I'd like to know if there is a way to draw it properly.
I have attached a pdf to show what I came up with. Pipe Stands.pdf The only way I could think to get it to work (look right) in isometric view was to draw to vertical lines, make an arc across them with the elipseisocircle, and then use the path array to fill the U shape with the isocircles. This keeps the tubular shape, and the number of circles resembles bolt threads.
My problem is that the u-bolt is only threaded on the ends, the arched part should be smooth. Since this u bolt is to clamp fiberglass pipe to the stand, those threads (in my drawing) could cause damage. In this instance, I just explained this in the email to the customer, but I'd like to find a way to draw it proper.
I am using Autocad 2012 I have got a solid model with a lot of nuts and bolts, is it possible to get the nut to screw up the bolt (so it looks like it is moving up that bolt) also other parts also move it would be nice to make them look like they are moving to.

In a part file i cannot insert parts from content center, should i make an assembly? and then?
When inserting a bolt connection requiring a coutersink or counter bore, the bolt is not placed flush and is left standing.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen a bolted connection is used, the bolt changes in length as the stackup of hardware increases and decreases. I have noticed that if I do not grab the red arrow to adjust the length, the amount the bolt extends past the nut
seems to be only about 2 threads. What is the formula Inventor uses to determine this extended length?
I'm trying to constrain a length of ACME threaded rod to a nut so that when the rod is spun or threaded it shows it traveling into the nut as it will be grounded. I would like it to work as a driven assembly or if I was to turn or spin the rod by the mouse. I've reseached this for the last 2 days and can not spend any more time on it so time to ask the experts.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been working with Inventor 2011 - Pro and have not had any success with utilizing a bolted connection (blind hole) in an FEA stress analysis. I have reviewed and one suggestion involved a using a bolt placed "as custom" instead of "as standard". It appears however that there is a default setting that I currently have which doesn't allow this as a selection.
