i wanted to know how they make a scrapbook page in a desktop background resolution. I made mine at 300 dpi resolution in a 500x500 px canvas, but when i tried to set it as my desktop bg, it was only a small piece of art centered. Having it stretched all over the bg made it look REALLY stretched.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to make the background of some images transparent so I select the backgrounds and try to delete them, though sometimes if it was white the background remains white and other times it pops up with the fill panel asking me what I want to fill the area with and transparent pixels are not an option, and other times I know I have deleted the background and it has shown me the checkerboard pattern indicating that it was indeed transparent.

I was hoping someone could explain how I would go about making the white backround from the piece of paper trasparent, so I can put the writing on the picture, making it look like part of the picture.
I'd like to only select the drawing in this pic so I can bring only that part in an other pic. like, make the background transparent...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm designing a header logo for a website with Photoshop CS4 (Mac) but am struggling to understand how to get the background transparent.
Â
In Photoshop I've designed the logo using multiple layers. Prior to saving I've disabled the background layers (used for testing purposes), thus leaving a transparent area behind the logo (shown as a checkerboard pattern). However, I don't understand what the next step is. I've tried "Save for web" as well as flattening it first, only to result in a white background. I suppose I don't need to flatten it then I've also messed around with the transparency and matte options in the "Save for web" window but to no avail (yes, I know that I need to save in either GIF or PNG though for the latter I don't know the difference between PNG 8 and 24 and which of the three formats I should go for).

As for "Matte"; is this the color in the image which should be made transparent? So that in my case with a logo containing white among several colors I should make the background something entirely different from the logo as a background layer and choose "Matte" for that? I've also experimented with that but to no avail.
I have an image of a girl on a white background. I need to remove the white background perfectly, so that her image is on top of a teal one. I tried masking and using the magic wand tool and deleteing, but she has all this hair. Is there a quick way to make the background transparent, so that the white just disapears?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was able to do the fire technique and had a great time. What I want to do is kick it up a notch and make a youth sports poster with Fire (just for my kids team). I want to have fire surrounding the kids (big wall of fire in the background) Not really sure how to do it. I know I can follow the directions with the text and take it a bit further, but hoping for a little direction to start. I have a fairly decent working knowledge with Photoshop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to create a background that begins with one color and gradually changes to a lighter color.
This type of background is on both the side panel and main panel of the page.
I am not looking for textures or vertical or horizontal lines.
Just a simple effect.
How would I go about creating this type of background?
I would like to make the black background of the image below tranparent so I can paste it on something else. I tried blending modes (the best were screen and linear dodge), but it would not look good on a white background. I do not want to use magic wand, because it would not look so natural and blended. Is there any way, using alpha channels maybe, to make the black transparent?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have product shots that require me to get a perfect white background whilst retaining the hair outline of the product. I have look at curves and levels but can't seem to get the right masking or layers that keeps the products properties. The main problem i think is because the product itself is a light colour against a background of what should be white.

the steps to make the background transparent
I have an image I'm making the background transparent on, but it's making part of the image itself transparent. Am I going to have to use the eraser in order to not make the part of the image transparent and just the background? Or is there another option I can use, cause the fuzzy tool isn't working out .
View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen working on this one for a while. Tried some searching on the site here, but I just haven't found a good solution for my needs.
I have rounded logo for my business. I like to paste it into emails and some marketing materials in either a jpeg or png format. The problem is the background of the page keeps showing up in the export file. Any quick solutions to this? I have pasted a copy of it in the text here.
I have an image that is a cellphone picture of a magazine picture. It is 1952 X 3264 pixels tall and skinny. It is mostly blackish but has a red line drawing in it.
I would like to make a layer(?) that is 4352 X 3264 (4x3 ratio) that is all black then put the original image on it (as a different layer?). After that I would like to put a very light smoky-haze over it all. Lastly resize it to 1200 X 1600 and reduce the file size to a reasonable size.
Is there a plugin or tutorial on how to do something like this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Gimp 2.8 and am a new user. How to make an image's background white. I have a watercolor painting that I have scanned into my computer, however you can see some shadows from the grain and edges of the paper. I have tried some different ways to change the background completely to white, but I feel like maybe I'm missing out on a quicker method. So far, the one I've been working on is taking me longer than it took to even draw and paint the picture in the first place. That method was to use the fuzzy (lasso) tool, make a rough outline of my painting, use the quick mask button in the bottom left hand corner and follow up by using the pencil tool to make a more precise line around the image.
Another tutorial I found showed I should use the Select by color tool, select an area that should be white in my image and press Ctrl+x. However, when I pushed ctrl+x, I saw no change in my background and my image remained outlined in the shifting lines that the select by color tool causes.
Is there a way to achieve a plain white background with out going through the long process of tracing around the detailed image?
It should be noted that I'm not hugely familiar with Gimp as I've only used it a couple of times with tutorials. So, the more basic you can describe something, the better. I am also running Windows 7.
I want to create a collage of small pictures. I would like some of the pictures to be rotated, but not at 90 deg or 180 - at smaller angles off normal. I do not see how to rotate an image by a preselected angle, or rotate on the fly.

As a second question, for the pictures I want to make the background [usually a solid color, white] transparent so I can overlay one object with another.
How do I make just the background fully transparent, without affecting an object?
I am new to Gimp and would like to ask if there is a way to make a good worn out effect more or less like this on a black logo. The problem is that they are using a fork for it and I am a student and can't afford a fork.
The aim is to make a black print on transparent background with transparent scratched "holes". Are there any tips how to do this?
