May 30, 2012It's a right click command when using the pen tool and instead of doing that every. single. time...
it would be easier to just make a keyboard short cut but im not sure how to assign shortcuts to right click commands.

Sep 12, 2008I know about the keyboard shortcut keys for the toolbox -- for example, G will activate the Gradient/Paint Bucket tool, whichever is active at that time. I'm wondering if there is a way to use the keyboard to toggle between these two, so I can switch/select one or the other without using the mouse to select.

Apr 8, 2009Having just upgraded to CS2 after years of using Photoshop 7 I am finding that when I try to move or nudge a selection with the keybord arrows (R-L-Up-Down) nothing happens,I end up using my mouse which is a pain and not very accurate in some cases. I'm on a new Dell with XPPro and have tried 3 different keybords with the same result.

Apr 23, 2009I have CS2 with Windows. It has been working perfectly but just recently some of the keys will not respond eg F7 for the layers.Also when trying to put Text on an image the text shows as a line ---------- but shows what is written in the layers comp.
Very annoying as I cannot gauge properly what I want to do.I'm not sure if it is something I have maybe altered in the set up unbeknowingly.

Jul 10, 2008I'm running PS-CS2 and it seems that all my keys are out of wack. None of my shortcuts are working. I go to check out the shortcut setting. Everything is fine until I get to the symbolled shortcuts. The / is an upside down question mark. The [ is actually a U with a ^ above it. Which is suppose to be the decrease brush size, but I found that in to be the Windows Start shortcut. I'm on a laptop and wondering if it made it made the compact keyboard into a full-size.

I use a Mackbook Pro (with Lion) my keyboard sometimes stops working when I use Photoshop (CS6, but happened the same thing with CS5) (mainly when I do digital painting with a Wacom, but just happened now, when I wasn't use it), and it doesn't work at all (not just with Photoshop)
Sometimes it starts working again on his own, but sometimes it doesn't so I need to restart the computer. Is there any Terminal command I can use to try to do like a restart to the keyboard?

Jan 26, 2012I'm using Mac OS X 10.7.2 on an Intel Core 2 Duo IMac. A few months ago I downloaded PhotoShop 5.1 after having used every previous issue of PhotoShop without a problem.
1. Often when I have Photoshop open on my desktop but not actively using it, it will freeze and I'll have to force quit and restart. When I installed the latest version of InDesign and Illustrator they would also freeze when not in use, however removing and resinstalling them seemed to fix the problem for them, but not for Photoshop.
2.I will be working along on a project when suddenly all of the alphanumerical keys on my keypad won't work. I ultimately have to restart the Mac to get them to work again in any program. This never happens with any other program and I have tried othe keypads, even one just out of the box, and it's always the same.
I have removed and reinstalled Photoshop twice, but still the same issues.I have called the Adobe helpline and tried all of their fixes, but it still happens. They resolved that it must be my Mac. But Mac says because it is related to a specific software it is not their problem.
Photoshop :: CS6 - Toggling Tools With Keyboard?
Aug 20, 2012This new behavior of PS in which you can press a key to select a certain tool, and then pressing the same tool again will select the next tool within that tool category. Is there a way to turn it off? Its making my workflow a mess at the moment. Since in the past I've never needed to depend on looking at what icon I'm using to know what tool is selected, now having to look every time to make sure the right sub-category tool is selected is getting unbearably annoying. I already had my key assignments directly linked to sub-category tools and my workflow was fast since I never had to check anything, I just had to press 1 button and thats it. Now I'm having to take an extra step thousands of times in one afternoon because I end up always not being on the right sub tool.
If I didn't have the 5D MKIII I'd just stick with CS4 but I'm cornered since CR7 is so much better than Canons DPP software.

Jan 3, 2012I am having issues with my newly installed Photoshop CS5. Most of my keyboard functions are not working, as if Photoshop did not recognize that keys were eing pressed.
When creating a new document or saving a file, I cannot type anything into the document name field. Same happens when trying to create a new folder to save in.No tool shortcuts work (M for marquee, B for brush, V for move, etc.). On-canvas brush changes ([ and ] for size, { and } for hardness) also do not work.Most regular shortcuts do work (Cmd+Z, Cmd+S, etc.) but "advanced" shortcuts do not work (Cmd+Alt+Z, Cmd+Shift+Z, etc.).
I used Photoshop CS4 before with no problems. Other Adobe programs (Dreamweaver, Flash, Acrobat, etc.) are working normally.

cmd-l : lock selected layer or group
cmd-alt-l: unlock selected layer or group
cmd-alt-c: copy layer style
cmd-alt-v: paste layer style
Copy layer style is listed in the keyboard shortcuts dialog. For some reason it wants to raster shape layers so that's totally unusable.

Oct 29, 2013I updated my Mac and everything was fine until i had to restart it. My Photoshop's keyboard short cut became all random like this:I tried restarting my computer again but it has not changes.
The most weird part is that when i tried to change the short-cuts, it won't work even though i clicked on accept and "ok". Is there a way i can turn this back? It wasn't like this when i first got this back at November.

Jun 10, 2013I want Ctrl+Shift+S to do SAVE AS. I set it as such in the keyboard shortcuts, but when I do that key combo, all I get is this: The mouse pointer changes to this. I can move it around and draw a box (in the background of PS, outside any open images). I want it to go away and do SAVE AS instead.

Photoshop :: Keyboard Becomes Unresponsive When Using CS6 / Have To Restart
Aug 23, 2012Since I upgraded to Photoshop CS6, I've found that every once in a while the keyboard becomes unresponsive. I can't tell whether anything specific that I'm doing triggers it, but I'll be editing an image and will press a shortcut key and find it doesn't work. It doesn't happen when I first open up an image, but usually after I've been working for a while. As far as I can tell (it's pretty random) it seems to happen when I'm using a tool to apply an effect to an image, like this last time it happened when I'd been using the Spot Healing Brush repeatedly on a photograph. (Of course that could be correlation without causality, since I'm a big fan of the Spot Healing Brush and tend to use it quite a bit whenever I'm editing photos). Note that the modifier keys still function, but all of the letter and number keys are unresponsive.
Sometimes - and lately it seems like it happens always, there's a sound associated with the shut off. It's possible that the times I didn't hear the sound I had my speakers off. It's a brief clicking noise - and I don't think it's any of the built-in alert sounds on my Mac, since I just listened to all of them and I recall this sound being different - but the sound is definitely coming from my speakers and is not a mechanical sound from the machine. The only way I've found to get my keyboard responding again is to shut down Photoshop and restart.
I'm on a Macbook Pro, 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, with 8GB Ram; I'm on OS X 10.7.4 (not quite ready to upgrade to Mountain Lion).

Jun 12, 2012Keyboard shortcuts will work for a little while, then suddenly stop. I can still select tools 'manually', clicking the icons, but pressing P for the paint brush tool or E for the eraser will have no effect. So far as I can tell this happens at random. It has also been fixing itself at random, after some undetermined amount of time not working, but then it just happens again.
'Use shift key for tool switch' is already unchecked in my preferences.
I'm on Photoshop CS6
Mac OS 10.7.3
I've got like 580 gigs of free disk space, and 8 GB of RAM...

Jan 15, 2013In CS4 I used the keyboard command, command+space bar, to zoom in to a area I selected with the marquee tool. I used this all the time. With CS6 the same keyboard command works differently. I don't have the option to select the area I want with the marquee tool. Is there a way to do it in CS6?

Photoshop :: No Keyboard Shortcuts Worked
Nov 19, 2012I was madly working along, and suddenly, no keyboard shortcuts worked. I wrestled with this for quite some time. Then I realized that I had two layers selected, instead of one. When I selected only one layer, all my keyboard shortcuts returned and began to operate as normal.
I'm just wondering whether this is a feature to protect the user from unwittingly altering more than one layer at a time, or whether it's a bug?
