Photoshop :: How To Change TIFF Grayscale Logo Into Blue
Sep 26, 2012
I've been trying to solve this problem for the past months. Everytime I needed our company logo, but everytime it failed and I setteled for the low resolution blue logo I allready have.
Â
So far I tried combinations of the following:
Â
changing .tiff into .PSD
grayscale into CMYK
Â
changing hue and saturation
Â
1 goto Layer - New adjustment layer - Curves - change the blend mode to "Screen"
2 goto Layer - New adjustment layer - Curves - change the blend mode to "Multiply"
Â
this all results in a slightly lighter or darker picture, but no color..
Â
Heinthis is the actual image

I have a 3 color logo: black, PMS 200U, and PMS 1955U. The logo was built in Illustrator and I have placed grayscale tiff ontop of it. The grayscale tiff is a stipple (dots) effect that I colorized to PMS 1955U in Illustrator, masked it out on top of the logo, and set it to multiply. Within Illustrator, the separations look good and it prints fine when printing directly out of illustrator.
Â
The problem is when I export it to a PDF/x1a and try to print it, it doesn't print properly. Printing from acrobat, it only previews and prints the PMS 1955U stipple and black. The flat PMS 200U under the tiff doesn't print. I've tried bitmapping the photoshop file and making the stipple monochromatic and still doesn't seem to work when exporting to a PDF and printing.
Â
Funny thing is, when I do the whole process for the CMYK logo (not PMS), it all prints out fine as a PDF/x1a.
How to get the logo to export and print properly?

I have a new Dell Vostro 1000 laptop, running Windows XP.
I'm the editor (copywriter, proofreader, layout person, etc., etc., etc.)for a quarterly journal for a non-profit organization. The journal is created pretty much entirely with PageMaker 6.5, with the photos being worked in PhotoShop 7.0. I know... XP and PageMaker 6.5 have some problems, but I never have or had this problem with my desktop, and the few problems I do have, I've managed to get around.
What's happening is, when I convert an image to grayscale in PhotoShop, it doesn't appear grayscale on my monitor... it has a blue hue to it... it also looks that way placed in the PageMaker publication. I'm sure it's just some simple setting on the laptop, but I haven't a clue what it is or where it might be or how to change it so that when I tell it grayscale, I actually SEE grayscale (not bluescale!). It's important that I see (at least relatively closely) how it will look in grayscale so I can adjust the contrast, levels, etc., as many of the photos are 100 years old and so need quite a bit of "playing with" in PhotoShop.

I was using Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) fine yesterday but today each image I open shows a loss of colour, everything looks like a blue tinted grayscale. The same with RAW files opened in ACR and all files opened in Bridge. When I open a JPEG version in Microsoft Image Viewer the colour is fine.In Windows, the thumbnails look fine with full colour in the folders. The loss of colour only happens when the image files are opened in Photoshop, Bridge and ACR.

I am cleaning up the Hard Drive on my Mac G4. My scanned images are taking a great portion of the 80 Gig drive. I finished clearing my external drive by removing nearly 60 gigs of images by storing them on DVD. I will do the same for the Mac drive.
My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:

I am trying to change a CMYK vector file to grayscale in CS4. I went to Edit/Edit Colors/ Change to Grayscale. The .AI vector art now looks gray on screen, but the title says "Icon.ai@100% (CMYK/Preview)". It still reproduces as a CMYK file and not Grayscale. I can't place this into a 2 spot colour document. What am I missing?

For CS6:
Â
I've had this problem before... where I go to hit a keyboard shortcut and end up in some sort of gray scale mode. I'm not actually in "gray scale" though; I'm still in RGB mode but the image title bar says "blue/8".
Â
I've tried everything I can think of, but now many of my options have been grayed out and I can't select certain menu functions. There was an easy fix with CS4 I found online, but I don't remember what it was and this seems different.

I'd like to change the white background to sky blue, to the left of the woodpecker in this photo I took.
I've been trying selections and then refining the edge with various settings. I've tried a selection with the barely recognizable branch on the bottom left and without the branch in the selection.
Once I have a selection with a refined edge I've been using Image>Adjustments>Saturation to change the color with the Colorize option checked on.
I can't get the white background to light blue without making it obvious. The blue sky and edge of the tree just doesn't look right (I forgot the term).
Would anyone have some advice on how to change the white background to a natural blue sky color and have it merge well with the bark edge? Removing the left bottom branch from the photo would be fine.
I attached the full photo scaled down to 500x375 and a larger section of the left hand side.

I'm new to GIMP. I've used Adobe Photoshop for years an years and no longer have access to the license. So I've been giving GIMP a test drive for a little while. I'm confused as to why when I apply a filter to my image or layer it changes the color to B/W or grayscale? I'm sure this is a relatively easy fix, but most filters I'm using don't have many options and I can't seem to apply the filter "as is". It always changes my whole graphic to grayscale. See "Before & After" attachments.

I'm importing TIFF images into a 3rd-party presentation software. Due to a problem in that software, it doesn't support 48-bit TIFFs. I opened my TIFFs in Windows Image Viewer, and they indeed are listed as 48-bit. The 3-rd party website simply said "use Photoshop to convert 48-bit TIFFs into 24-bit". How can I make 24-bit TIFFs?

If I have an image that has plenty of a certain hex colour A in it, and I want to change all pixels of that colour to another hex colour B, how do I do that?
I want it to intelligently convert pixels of other colours, i.e. a colour that is half-grey half-A becomes half-grey half-B, a pixel that is transparentesque A becomes transparentesque B, and so on.
How do I do this on paint.net or possibly with any online tool available.

I would like to ask some very simple, but not sure that there is some keyboard combination in Xara Designer Pro.
Basically I have to type a long text, some words with normal default black color characters, and some with blue.
My target would be with some keyboard shortcut maybe quickly change the color to blue and after black and so on, do you have some proposal to this?
Currently I am just typing everything in black and after one by one selecting the words and applying Set Fill Color to make them blue.
