I have been trying to create adjustment layers but my photoshop just doesnt respond normally. When I click on adjustments > curve, I should be getting a new layer linked to the curve icon in my layers box. But all I get is the curve icon, I can't modify this "layer" coz I get a message saying this layer can't be edited because it's empty (applies to any kind of adjustment). Here's a screen cap
I'm having trouble adjusting the levels on a layer after I've previously added noise to it. Basically I'm trying to add a simple snowstorm effect to a painting I'm currently working on.  The way I normally do is: create a new layer, then fill it with solid black, after that I go to filters>noise>add noise, then I add about 150% noise and check monochromatic, press ok, after that I go to image>adjustments>levels and adjust it so it leaves only a few white spots and then I press ok, but this time nothing happens after I press ok in the levels window and the image stays the same.  here's the system info:
I am trying to move a layer with photo or adjust and then I get to see this sign. What am I doing wrong? Can you explain to me what I should do differently.
I have a text layer with width given at its creation. When I later open text editor and enter some wider text, it is wrapped to second line. So I would like to enhance the width of the layer to prevent this. When I add width to the layer using "Layer Boundary Size" menu item, text layer gets converted into standard bitmap layer . I don't understand the logic why a text layer isn't preserved on change of its size .
Is there a way how I can adjust size of text layer without its conversion to a bitmap?
I usually use FW for my styles-based graphics (menubars, text effects), but have recently begun to experiment with PS.
However, I've noticed that when applying a style to text (Baltic Sea Ice, for example), even after I rasterize the text layer, I am still unable to alter the color by changing the hue / saturation in order to match a precise color scheme. Is there another way to do this?
i'm trying to edit the contrast and brightness of my greyscale image, after using the cutout filter. Is there any way that the cutout filter can be applied on the fly while i'm changing the contrast and brightness/shadow and highlight options so that the changes i make get applied through the cutout filter? As at the moment i am having to guess when setting my contrast, shadow and highlight settings before applying the cutout filter.
create alternative versions of existing winamp skins which varying colors. What's the most efficient way to import the pieces into Photoshop and adjust the colored portions only without selecting them with the lasso, etc. For example, the blues in the following screenshot:
I have several shots like this and of course the flash is entirely too bright, and an awful red background to boot. I just caught my dog under the covers so I really didn't have much choice in lightning. It was this or solid darkness.
I've played with brightness/hues/levels and I just can't figure out how to make these turn out decent.
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
I have found that when I use the Layer Styles on one layer and then make a new layer or select a shape that creates a new layer that when I go to add Styles to the new layer/new shape the previous layer is affected by how I set the Bevel & Emboss, Direction, Altitude, Drop Shadow etc etc.  For instance, let's say I have a ...  BG > New Layer > draw an ellipse and then add a Bevel with an > Angle of 89 and an Altitude of 30 and then I add a New Layer > open the Styles and go to change the Angle to say +89 or whatever and the Altitude to say 45 ... the first Layer/Shape Effects change.  How I can keep one Layer from being affected by an other Layers Effects'?  I have found that if I Rasterize a Layer Effect that I can add a "double" effect on the same layer but I haven't tried the to do this with separate layers. However, for most of the work I am doing I cannot use the Raster because everything needs to be true vectors.  I have a Dell Laptop/Windows 7 Home Premium that's a 64 bit
I have attached a logo I am working on. I have used the Stroke feature to put the black line around the letter "T". However, no matter which I choose "Inner" "Outer" or "Center" option, the stroke still seems to leave a curved edge to it, as you can see in the photo attached.
I would like it to be completely squared off.
I was thinking this has to do with the type of brush that the stroke feature is using. Can this be adjusted.
I often use the Image>Adjust Variations option in Photoshop but do not see the option in Photoshop CS6. I know we are still only in the BETA stage but I hope it is not going to be dropped. I like to use it for quick fixes on small portions of the image every now and again:)
I have an action set for text and I want to fiddle with a few of the actions, change the feathering and so on, without having to recreate the action. It's not an image adjustment like "levels" or "contrast", the action layer is called "make text" and contains a series of steps that it won't play individually. Is this possible?Photoshop CS4
I have just switched to Photoshop from Fireworks, and so far I'm not happy. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to adjust the dang hexadecimal code inside of Photoshop CS4 for the desired color!
how to adjust the scroll rate when you zoom in on an image? Back in version 5, PS used to automatically adjust the scroll rate when you zoom in on a pic so you're not scrolling really fast past the area you're trying to work on, but now (using PS7) when I zoom in on an area of a picture, the scroll rate doesn't seem to change so when I try to just slide a few pixels horizontally or vertically, it quickly jumps to the far end of the picture.
The scale of the horizontal ruler is slightly larger than the vertical ruler. If I zoom so that the distance between 0 and 1" is 100mm on the horizontal scale, it is 94mm between 0 and 1" on the vertical scale (sorry for the mixed standards). This makes images look compressed vertically on my screen. Portraits make people look more "chunky" than they are. Is this adjustable? I am using a Lacie electron19blueIV CRT with resolution at 1280x1024.

I am putting my pictures onto DVD. When I play the DVD some, not all, of my pictures are shorten and stretched, which makes them hard to see. I have been told that it is a resizing issue, but I can't seem to figure out how to change the image size.Â
there is a way to allow photoshop to save files with names longer than 31 characters. I am creating a Photo Gallery and want the name of the files to contain the names of the persons in the picture.
I read the help docs but can't find where to modify the Save Options.
Is there anyway to adjust CS4 and Photoshop so it can work with a 23" Samsung Widescreen monitor so the image does not distort? The user has it set for 1024 x 768 but it can go up to 1680 x1050?  I am wondering if there is a setting with CS4 to allow for widescreen monitors.  Â
I'm using CS4 in Windows 7. Our products have green text screenprinted on them. In the photos of some of them, the green is washed out or is yellowish. How can I adjust just the green text without affecting the rest of the photo?
I don't use Photoshop a whole lot, but just wondering...  I've created a rectangle with a different colour stroke. I decided that I wanted a slightly different size of radius and an entirely different colour of stroke. Do I keep having to make new ones, or is there a simple way to edit the one that I have already made?
I need to include several pages of pdfs in a book. The pdfs are scanned text documents, image only, with no security applied. When I open the pdf on my mac pro with photoshop cs6, I can make adjustments in the curves dialog, but when I close the dialog the adjustments disappear. The history pallette shows the action, but nothing happened. Also can make visible changes in a curves adjustment layer, but when I flatten the image the changes disappear. I've tried opening the pdf as grayscale, rgb, and cmyk; same result. I've also saved it in several different formats, then reopened it; same result. The file initially opens as a background layer with a locked symbol in the layers pallette. If I duplicate the layer and delete the background, the locked symbol disappears, but photoshop still won't accept changes made in the curves dialog. I tried it with cs4, and had a friend try the same things with on a pc; same result. Levels adjustment won't work, either.
I added 3 different Hue Saturation Layer(s), colors Red, Yellow, and Green -Â split in 3, to a concrete image, in Photoshop. I am trying to get a really bright, sunny yellow color, however I can only get light yellow Hue Saturation Layer. How to adjust Hue for bright yellow (sunny) color?
