View 3 RepliesCS6 is consistenly locking up in the selective color and curves dialog. i.e. I come to the selective color dialog and try to choose the reds and it is stuck on whites, which I used last and I can't change it. I have to quit and relaunch. The same thing is happening with the Curves dialog. I can edit the RGB curve , but can't select the R, G or B channels until I relaunch. It works for a while and then it just stops.

View 10 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop CS3 freezes after making an adjustment layer using levels. A description of where the picture is located on the computer (usually only seen as a mouse over) appears and is also frozen.
I am unable to save the file and have to end the program and lose everything if it is not already saved. I have Windows XP with service Pack III. I do not have this problem with CS2. I would appreciate any ideas.
My photoshop CS2 frequently freezes when I do simple commands such as altering hue/brightness and double clicking on a slice with the slice selection tool.

I have Windows 7 and plenty of computing power and disc space. I have tried reloading it 3 times plus signing off and on to my account.
I installed PS CS6 and it immediately freezes after it opens up. I can not do anything... nothing works. I have to use task mgr to close it down. This is running on a refurbished Dell PC with a SSD Win7 & NVIDIA Video Card. What gives?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with the 64-bit version of Photoshop CS6. Immediately after attempting to open an existing file or create a new one, Photoshop completely freezes, with no error messages/dialogues, and I end up having to force close it from Windows Task Manager. This happens every single time. I had this same issue with the beta, and it continues into the full release. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it multiple times to no avail.
I haven't had this issue with previous versions of Photoshop (CS 5 & 5.5), and the 32-bit version of CS6 runs fine. However, for obvious reasons, I would prefer to use the 64-bit version of the software to take full advantage of what my machine is capable of.I'm running this on a HP Envy 17 laptop, with an Intel Core i7 processor (1st-gen), an AMD Radeon HD 5850M graphics card, and 8GB of RAM.
I have a PC with windows 7. I have had photoshop on here for a year or so with no problems. I recently reformatted my PC and now for some reason when I open photoshop after it has finished installing, the grey window opens and just freezes. i've tried reinstalling 10 times and it does the same thing every time.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing frequent freezes on PS (CS6, 13.0 x64) when first using it each day. Rest of the time it seems to run very quick and beautifully. But most days I'm finding in the first five or ten minutes of using it, PS just stops. It then takes perhaps five minutes to do anything and if I have used the history brush or resized or anything while it was still fuctioning ok, then there is a frantic catch-up by PShop while it runs through all those unseen movements in one go.
Oddly, it won't allow any selections or painting or anything but it does seem to allow you to still look at pull-down menus (even though they don't respond if selected). So, an unusual type of freeze, not a total lock-out, just rendering it useless. Quitting (when it allows me to) seems to revive it and then I seem to be able to work ok.
Am on a new iMac with 3 TB Fusion drive - just wondering (worried) it is something to do with that perhaps? All my other CS apps working ok (I use Indesign constantly).
I have a new HP envy i7, 16GB, Win 8 laptop and am installing a new Production Premium Suite. I installed PS, Premiere and Audition. Premiere and Audition start fine, but PS freezes the moment it is started. Cannot access any menu items, and have to close nonresponding program via Task Manager.

ok, here is my problem:
when i go to File->Open (or Ctrl+O), the Open dialog box opens momentarily (blink an you miss it) and then Photoshop and/or Illustrator freezes. the only way to close it is through Windows Task Manager->End Task.
there is no official error message, Photoshop/Illustrator just simply freezes.
however, and heres the kicker, when i open the files directly from the folder (Explorer) they open fine, i can work seamlessly, no problem. it only occurs when i open from the program itself. i do not know if the other suite programs (Flash, InDesign etc.) have the same problem as i dont use them much.
experiencing urecoverable crashes (Windows freezes, have to restart the pc) when performing various actions. It seems to be happening only when something is going on in/with the document window, or when any modifications are made to the opened image. Using menus and other interface elements doesnt seem to cause any problems. The crashes usually happen a few minutes after the software has loaded.

I recently installed Photoshop CS4 extended, and I'm having some problems with Preferences in the edit menu. When I attempt to go to either "performance" or "general" under preferences, it freezes, then I get an error report and it shuts down.
Everything else has been working fine so far, though, and it's a wonderful program. My computer is a little older, and is on xp.
All of a sudden whenever I try and save a jpeg image in photoshop, all of the menu items gray out, including the close X, so I can't exit the program or do anything. The file doesn't actually get saved. And I have to ctrl+alt+delete out of it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 500 GB HD, 2 GB RAM, under Windows XP Professional.
When I opened 2-3 images in Photoshop CS2, and worked on one, the open screen would suddenly appear again, and was impossible to get rid of without stopping the program.
So I entered Control Panel and "repaired" CS2 with the installation disk. Same trouble still occurred. In addition, now when I open the OPEN window, and try to browse, nothing comes up for >120 seconds.
I am out of business and have to use PSE6. Would I benefit from uninstalling and reinstalling CS2, or does this sound like a Windows XP issue? My computer seems OK otherwise, but is not a speed demon.
I have photoshop 7.0 and have had no problems for years. Today when I was editing a photo it froze. It happened again when I click Image >adjustments>brightness and contrast....it freezes and won't let me close photoshop. I can minimize photoshop and work on other things-just not photoshop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been able to successfully INSTALL Adobe Photoshop CS3: Extended multiple times, however I have yet to actually successfully RUN the application. After installation, when I try to open the program, a window appears with "Adobe Photoshop CS3" at the top and it is simply a large grey box with nothing inside of it. My mouse cursor turns into an hourglass and that's it... I left it there for an hour and a half once just to see what it would do and it simply continued in an endless loop of nothingness.
I have a custom-built computer with an AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition, 2x2GB of OCZ 1066mhz Reaper DDR2, a Gigabyte motherboard with the GX790 chipset (SB750 southbridge), and a 2x1 Terabyte RAID 1 array.
It's running in a brand spanking new Windows XP Professional installation with Service Pack 3.
I have tried the following:
1) Uninstalling and reinstalling (same result)
2) Uninstalling all Adobe programs, Running Adobe Clean Script at level 4, running Windows Install Cleanup to remove any remaining Adobe remnants, and reinstalled. (same result)
3) Doing everything in step 2 again, then copying the CD to my hard drive, and installing from my hard drive. (same result)
4) Doing everything in step 2 again, then making a new administrative user account and reinstalling (same result...)
The adobe tech support guys I encountered came up with some pretty crazy (and flat stupid) explanations for my problems.
One guy claimed that my Serial was for CS1 and that somehow I'd gotten a CS1 disk that just happened to come in a CS3 box, with a CS3 disk label, which just happens to say "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended" after you install it...
i went to install CS9(.2,i think) on my laptop the other day and it installed fine, but when you start it the program freezes. when launched ,it fills in all the boxes etc and looks ready to go,but as soon as you try to do anything eg click on anything, the boxes all grey out and it freezes completely,so you cant do anything with it.
have tried reinstalling and exactly the same thing happened, yet it worked perfecrtly on another different laptop.i changed screen resolution and checked direct-x was up to date, with no joy.
My adobe cs4 collection (photoshop, indesign, etc) freezes upon starting. I've got fresh system install - windows 7 (x64), new ssd drive - corsair force, new motherboard and cpu - intel i5, 16gb ram ddr3.
Every time i open psd or indesign document i have to wait about 15seconds before the popup screen opens and the software launches. Same with acrobat AND with Office 2010 (wtf?). On my previous setup it started faster. I've tried unlockin Win7 options for best SSD performance, and reinstalled the graphics driver (geforce gt 220). This is a cs3 + upgrade to cs4. Everything else seems to work smoothly, system starts up very fast and such.
I have Photoshop CC on windows 8 machine with 16GB RAM and 2 GB Graphics card. The moment I starts the Photoshop, my machine freezes for 2-3 mins, disk usgae shooting to 100%. I have tried every steps to optimise my windows as well as photoshop. But the problem remains still.

it is a student master collection.
I bought the Adobe CS5 master collection from a deal at my university. This error only started happening today, it was completely fine for the last few months up til yesterday, so it doesn't have anything to do with my specs probably.
Whenever I try to copy an image (ctrl + c), Photoshop would freeze. No error, no popup or anything, simply a freeze. The mouse cursor doesn't even turn into that loading icon, but nothing would be click able and any animations (like marquees) would stop.

Also Photoshop CS5 has a lot of bugs when Flash CS5 is also open, causing a ton of crashes of either Flash or Photoshop. It's like these two programs don't like each other. I'm surprised this didn't go noticed during testing ?
I have 2 printers I print to from PS cs6. recently every time i go to print the print page freezes and i am unable to select the printer i want and all other options freeze up. i have to crt-alt-del to close PS and then reopen at which time i am usually able to print with whatever printer is selected--i cannot change printers.

While i was rescaling a vector layer in a psd doc in which I have been working all day, PS CC suddenly froze. And now PS freezes when reopening that doc. PS opens the doc but freezes before loading the layers
I can open and work in other PS doc.
Usually I'll be painting and I'll bump the middle button on my pen and then I'll get the spinning circles like it's thinking. I can still paint but I can't access any other menus or save or exit. It'll never recover and my system doesn't recognize it's frozen.
I have to force quit. I've updated my tablet drivers and Photoshop. I've tried disabling the middle button and it still happens.I need the middle button for parts of my work flow.'ve tried just avoiding hitting the button while working but it's hard to avoid.
