I have used Photoshop 5.5 for several years, but not very often. Many times I have filled a circle or rectangle with color. but lately I have two thing going on that I can't figure out. When I fill a circle or rectangle, the color goes outside the marching ant's and fades. The second thing is, using the rectangler tool, the corners always rounds. They use to not do that. I would think it is a simple setting in both cases.

What I want to do is drawing circles with an outline (I know how to do that) but with a filling (background) colour which has a transparency of for example 50%. Is that possible and how should I do that?
Must I enter the outline and the filling part on two different layers to get the transparency for the filling colour?
I added a patten fill to my libray, saved my default setting so it would stay, now everytime I draw an object it is automatically filled with that pattern fill...I even deleted the pattern fill from the library, saved default settings again, restarted corel, and it still fills an object.

I am creating some geometric patters with the transform tool. Basically a shape is rotated about a center point. When the shapes are combined they create some quick interesting shapes. However, is there a way to fill in the gaps in the combined shape automatically, without having to manually use the smart fill tool?
Breaking the shape apart does not work, because the geometric pattern is based on the overlaps. I included a jpg of what I am doing to circumvent the manual smart fill, but is there an easier way, especially where the geometric patterns become very complex.
I can take the object, trim from a background, break apart that trimmed shape, then color it, or group or shape into a single curve, then align and group with the original object. But just looking to see if there is another easier way.

How can I use the bucket-fill option to fill an area surrounded by a dottedline?
The dotted line is a path; so if I use a line for the dots, the bucket-fillworks.
But how can I step back after filling to change the path's line into dotsagain?
When I use the fill tool to simply 'fill' a selection, it does not completely fill it. There is an ivisible barrier or line that prevents it from filling all the way to the edge. Do you think I have my settings wrong?

I am having the above laser cut out of acrylic. The laser needs to have everything that is black use a Fill and no Outline. The way it is in the file now, there is no Fill on the circle, but there is a black Outline. If I tell it to have a black Fill and no Outline (like the laser needs) I end up with a solid black circle which the laser will engrave as a solid circle instead of the "ring".
I want to fill in a circle with letters, not a paragraph of text, but where the few letters fill into the circle space. I 'm using CorelDRAW GSX5

is there a quick way to fill a circle/ellipse/polygon object with a bitmap image/ photo? I have a bunch of photos i would like to put into these objects and would like to have them filled/fitted into the objects and clipped by the outer extent. I guess a picture fill of some sort? Or a mask?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Adobe Photoshop 7.0 in Windows 7 Virtual XP mode, since the program won't run in Win7 64-bit mode. It used to run fine in 32-bit mode. It runs OK in the virtual XP mode, but I find that the circle tool in the painting or clone stamp functions always has an arrowhead in the center of the circle. It never used to, just the circle for painting or cloning. How do I get rid of it? Changing the settings in the Preferences menu does not work. Also, the virtual mode doesn't seem to allow updating program files, although it updates XP files. I tried to download a Photoshop update file. There was a prompt asking where it should go. But when I selected a place, and clicked OK, the Next button did not come on.

next i would like to Duplicate the layer and then select the Vector Mask Thumbnail in the layers panel so that when i select the Pen tool the Intersect Shape Areas is available
however, i cannot seem to get the Vector Mask to be available it is always grayed out no matter what i try to do.

Usually the tool cursor is a circle the size the tool is set to, that is, it will be 60 pixels in diameter when the tool size is set to 60 pixels. Sometimes, the tool cursor changes to a gun sight-like icon. I have no idea what I'm doing to cause that, but I'd like to know in order to 1) stop doing it, and 2) maintain my sanity.

View 4 Replies View Relatedto fill with the paint bucket ... or make sure i have a fill color selected. I have already tried that. Everytime i make an object, and close it off, it doesnt fill. And if i try to fill the object, it fills everything. And yes, i double check to make sure i am closing the object. After i get done drawing the shape, i can right-click with the pen tool and open the "Fill Path..." option, and tell it to fill it, and it will. But i want it to fill in when i am done drawing each shape. Is there anything that i can do to make this happen.

Older versions of Photoshop would fill in all the paths at the same time so I don't see why the pen tool would be capable of doing that in a newer version.
