Photoshop :: Can't Download Updates From The Update Option In CS 5.1
Jun 10, 2013
I can't download updates from the update option in PS CS 5.1. Also having trouble installing the update directly from ADOBE. The program is crashing my system on a regular basis.
I have just purchased Photoshop CS6 and ran the updater from within Photoshop. I know some of the updates worked but not all. So I ran it again 3 or 4 attempts now have failed with this message:-
It has failed to install - Extension Manager 6.0.6 Update with the error message -Installation failed. Error Code: U44M1P7
I have found a solution on the forum- Download and install the updates manually. Go to [URL]...updates and download the update that you are trying to install. There is no update available there which refers to Extension Manager 6.0.6 Update
I opened the Adobe Application Manager and run it for updates, it reports I'm good - no updates! But when I then try for an update from within Photoshop I still get the same message telling me I need to instal ExtensionManager 6.0.6 UpdateI have tried to find the error log from within my system - but failed misserably (I am on Windows 7-64)
where do I go from here? Do I need Extension Manager? What does it do? Is it vital I install this update?
I have used PS CS 5 and 6 for a couple of years and never had a crash until I downloaded the current Camera Raw update. Now it crashes in the middle of every edit session. Can I remove the update, or is there some other fix?
I have tried to download the trial version of PS CC repeatedly. The downloads were unsuccessful but the download window says I am up to date and will not let me try again. How do I work around this?
I ran the Update option once, mainly to get the ACR 8.2 version. It looked like all the files downloaded successfully and that the update process started. Then nothing.
- Clicking Update has no effect. There are absolutely no error messages. - Downloading the ACR 8.2 file and trying to run the AdobePatchInstaller.exe file does nothing. - Removing the Adobe Application Manager (AAM) Cache accomplished nothing. - Trying to run the AAM does nothing.
A popup message just informed me that there are 9 Adobe updates available and to launch AAM. Which, of course, accomplishes nothing.A support person on Live Chat said this is a known issue.I'm running Win7 Pro, SP1, 64-bit, 8Gb RAM, GeForce GT 630 Nvidia chipset graphics card.
I have Photoshop CS6 installed via Creative Cloud, now I have updated Lightroom to LR5 and I wanted to update ACR from 7.1 to 8.1 but in the Photoshop menu the Update option is greyed out. How to update ACR to the current version?
I don't want to have the original files on both laptop and desktop.
I want to make a copy of a Lightroom 3 catalog to put on my laptop so while on the move I can be geo-tagging and keywording to 8000 photographs. I don't want to drag an external drive with me. I just want to be able to work on the catalog metadata and have all the updates/changes stored there (on the laptop)(in the catalog) and then transfer the catalog back to the desktop (to the primary archive) and have all the updates/changes pushed back into the DNG's or the XMP sidecar files alongside the CR2's. These changes would be only keywording and possibly writing GPS data into them….NOT image edits (that would probally require access to the original image files)
As a test, I tried "exporting as catalog", TWO images (with the source images "unavailable"). I flash-drived the resulting catalog to my laptop. I opened the catalog in LR3 and made changes to the metadata. I tried both "saving metadata to file" and "updating DNG previews" (which would be useless anyway since I could not write data back to the missing originals) and also tried doing nothing and just closing LR, then pulling the flashdrive and plugging it into the DESKTOP.(knowing the changes are stored within the catalog itself only) I open the 2 picture catalog in LR and see the keyword updates. Hurrah!
I switch over to the master catalog. All I want to do is import the updated metadata (keywording, contrast, etc…) back into the master catalog and push the data into the original DNG or XMP. On import I select "replace: Metadata and develop settings only" (with or without "preserve old settings" checked) and click import. Voila! NOTHING HAPPENS and the updated keywords are NOT picked up.
I know that the metadata updates were carried out because they showed up when I opened it separately in LR! For some reason they don't seem to making through the import process to the master catalog…
I am trying to adjust the white balance using photoshop elements 11, all the information I have come across tells you how to do it using the camera raw plug in. This has been updated and still I do not see it listed when I click on the file menu. I take photos of antique gold lockets using a light house and even though the custom white balance is set on my camera the photos are still coming out too canary yellow. I need to be able to adjust the colors so that they are more antique rose gold looking and have been reading different articles and videos on how other people adjust the colors and would like to try a couple of the ways I have seen but am unable as the camera raw plug in is not showing up as an option.
Illustrator CS5 every time import an image it automatically embeds the image and I loose all link information. I cannot connect to the image via the link palette via the update option or edit the original image. I have to relink the image every time I make an edit
I have a few lists in my form. The first one decides what information the other lists should have, so none of the choices are the same. I should first add that I have the "OK, Cancel, Apply" option.
Is there any way that I can make the other lists update automatically when I chose something in the first one? The only time they update is when I press the "Apply"-button.
I have parameters and rules that decide what lists should be shown at what option from the first list so I don't think that is the problem.
i bought adobe cloud and i started downloading all the software and deleting old version. I didn't know there was a special way to delete adobe application so i just dragged it into a program called app cleaner and it deleted all the files. But it won't let me put cs6 photoshop on my computer because it still thinks i have cs6 photoshop beta. how can i get photoshop back onto my computer.
As you might see in layer panel. there is a blending option applying on text. and when i try to applying new blending option i-e drop shadow or inner shadow to layer shape 5. it will mess with also to text layer.
i just noticed that there is no manual update file for ACR 7.2. most of our company computers are offline.
how should we update them without a manual update file?
[URL]..........
adobes says the final ACR 7.2 update is available through the CS6 update.well that is of no use when you have offline computers. This update will be released as manual update file too?! any infos?
When transfering images from Lightroom to Photoshop HDR for instance. message says update Camera Raw. Update attempts all come back to 'update server is not in service' --
Can't get the updates from Help Menu. Get a message that the Server might be offline temporarily or Internet or firewall setting might be wrong.I'm a number of updates behind and some things I want to do from LR don't come over correctly to PS. if I should reinstall.
old computer crashed. Loaded CS5 onto new computer but unable to get updates! I need to get camera raw! The tech support person told me to uninstall and reinstall and that would resolve the issue- well, it did not and I do not have another few hours to wait on hold- any thoughts? I was able to have it deactivated from my old computer.
I installed some updates the other day and... I don't know why something has gone wrong and I can't work anymore cause ps keeps crashing anytime... so, how can I uninstall the updates and try to reinstall them?
I installed the CS3 Extended trial. I then purchased a hard copy of CS3 Standard and I entered the product key and activated CS3. When I go to Help, Updates, it finds two updates I need - Flash Lite 3 Update for Device Central and ExtendScript Toolkit 2.0.2 (I already have Device Central and Toolkit 2.0.) When I try to install the two updates, I get the message saying they cannot be installed and that I need to uninstall my software and reinstall it and then try the updates again. Do I really need to uninstall CS3 and reinstall it?
how to handle Adobe updates in CS3 so that you are informed about the updates but can choose when to install them? I recently downloaded the trial version of CS3 and today it updated a number things automatically. I would rather have the option to update and install on my preference.
I recently installed Photoshop CC and the CC app recently updated both my own CS6 and CC. I find that I now cannot resize images using the "image size" dialog. Any changes I try to make in dimension or resolution are ignored.
Before, I simply entered the resolution and size I wanted for the image. Now I cannot .I have tried suggestion here: e.g., deleting pixels when cropping, etc.
I previously had a few CS5 apps installed. They were volume license versions of some sort available through the school I was working at. (I don't know the details of the installation — the school network guys did it for me.) In these apps, the Update command was also unavailable ... I sort of assumed it was something odd with the install (maybe the update manager was not included) so I downloaded and installed updates manually from Adobe.com.
I have since left the school and dumped the apps. I just picked up a personal copy of Photoshop CS6. I find that the "Updates" command is still unavailable, but this is a regular install so I am crying foul.
I found this page about disabling the update manager for CS5 and CS6. I checked and sure enough I had a copy of AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat with updates suppressed, as mentioned in the article. Must be left over from my previous CS5 install, as I sure have never touched that file myself. However, upon removing it, my "Updates" command is still not available.
Is there some other way that updates can be disabled that I have not found yet? Is there a way to launch the update manager outside of the application?
Can't believe it makes one iota of difference but am using WIN7.Is there any reason not to delete old folders in Lightroom and PS when I upgrade or install later versions.
Example: I have 5 folders of updates (plus 4.2) in my Adobe folder for Lightroom starting with 3.4 up thru 4.1.Can I just delete everything except 4.2? I have PS CS6. Can I delete the CS5 folder?
Since I installed Photoshop CS6 on my Mac OS 10.8, I haven't been able to successfully install an update. Every time I get the error U44M1P6, which tells me to try installing the update manually. Which I do, and I get the same result.
I have been asked if I've changed anything in Photoshop's folder or something similar, and I haven't done anything to it besides installing one extension using Extension Manager, and keeping Photoshop's icon on my dock.
