The tech support person told me to uninstall and reinstall and that would resolve the issue- well, it did not and I do not have another few hours to wait on hold- any thoughts? I was able to have it deactivated from my old computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the CS3 Extended trial. I then purchased a hard copy of CS3 Standard and I entered the product key and activated CS3. When I go to Help, Updates, it finds two updates I need - Flash Lite 3 Update for Device Central and ExtendScript Toolkit 2.0.2 (I already have Device Central and Toolkit 2.0.) When I try to install the two updates, I get the message saying they cannot be installed and that I need to uninstall my software and reinstall it and then try the updates again. Do I really need to uninstall CS3 and reinstall it?
View 26 Replies View Relatedhow to handle Adobe updates in CS3 so that you are informed about the updates but can choose when to install them? I recently downloaded the trial version of CS3 and today it updated a number things automatically. I would rather have the option to update and install on my preference.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Photoshop CC and the CC app recently updated both my own CS6 and CC. I find that I now cannot resize images using the "image size" dialog. Any changes I try to make in dimension or resolution are ignored.
Before, I simply entered the resolution and size I wanted for the image. Now I cannot .I have tried suggestion here: e.g., deleting pixels when cropping, etc.
I previously had a few CS5 apps installed. They were volume license versions of some sort available through the school I was working at. (I don't know the details of the installation — the school network guys did it for me.) In these apps, the Update command was also unavailable ... I sort of assumed it was something odd with the install (maybe the update manager was not included) so I downloaded and installed updates manually from Adobe.com.
I have since left the school and dumped the apps. I just picked up a personal copy of Photoshop CS6. I find that the "Updates" command is still unavailable, but this is a regular install so I am crying foul.
I found this page about disabling the update manager for CS5 and CS6. I checked and sure enough I had a copy of AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat with updates suppressed, as mentioned in the article. Must be left over from my previous CS5 install, as I sure have never touched that file myself. However, upon removing it, my "Updates" command is still not available.
Is there some other way that updates can be disabled that I have not found yet? Is there a way to launch the update manager outside of the application?
Can't believe it makes one iota of difference but am using WIN7.Is there any reason not to delete old folders in Lightroom and PS when I upgrade or install later versions.
Example: I have 5 folders of updates (plus 4.2) in my Adobe folder for Lightroom starting with 3.4 up thru 4.1.Can I just delete everything except 4.2? I have PS CS6. Can I delete the CS5 folder?
Since I installed Photoshop CS6 on my Mac OS 10.8, I haven't been able to successfully install an update. Every time I get the error U44M1P6, which tells me to try installing the update manually. Which I do, and I get the same result.
I have been asked if I've changed anything in Photoshop's folder or something similar, and I haven't done anything to it besides installing one extension using Extension Manager, and keeping Photoshop's icon on my dock.
I'm trying to update my newly purchased and installed PhotoShop CS 5.5 on my iMac (less than a year old) using the "Updates" link..I get an error that says, "Update Failed. Updates could not be applied. Unable to write at location "Users/[my computer name]/ Library/Application Support/ Adobe" provide write permissions to this location and try again."I can't tell if it is a PhotoShop issue or a write permission issue on my iMac.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have CS5 and wonder if there is a SIMPLE way to check to see if it needs any updates since the newer software version of Apple was applied to my computer. The website seems extremely confusing unless you know exactly what you need and what you are looking for. Photoshop has begun to run slower on my IMAC.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn Oct 20 I updated Photoshop CC, and during the update it asked me if it could install an updater to monitor my CC apps. I allowed this to happen. Two hours later, Win 8 tried to update and failed for the first time, giving me a message that Windows could not configure features. I figured it was the newly installed monitor from Adobe that caused the problem so I found the file and disabled it. The file's name is AAM Updater 1.0. A couple of hours later, Windows updated itself with a huge update. I have left the Updater disabled to avoid having the problem again.
Is AAM Updater a necessity for keeping Photoshop updated or active? Do I have to have it running in the background ALL the time? If so, and if it prevents Windows from updating, how can I work around the problem?
I'm creating a text portrait in Photoshop CS5 Extended 10.0.4 x86 with all updates installed, running Mac OS X 10.6.8. I'd like to be able to draw a path and use the text tool to add text on the path. However, there are so many text-on-a-path layers close to each other in this file that Photoshop tries to outsmart me. Instead of allowing me to enter text along a newly-created path, it jumps to another nearby text layer at random and starts editing that layer.
I can only make the type on a path tool work if I drag the newly created path away from all the other text areas, enter the text, and drag it back. But as the portrait increases in complexity it's almost impossible to find problem-free areas to drag these paths to, and it's very time-consuming.
I just tried to install updates for ACR 5.3 and PSCS 11.0.1.They downloaded ok, but all the updates failed to install. I tried this from Bridge and also from PS, same results.I'm on XP Pro, Quad Core, 250G C-drive, 500G storage and scratch drive, 4GB memory on board. Is there a problem with Adobe or my computer?

It makes my sys really slow.
Notice on Adobe site indicates that update 13.0.5 is available for Photoshop cs6 Extended--non Cloud version. However when in the program itself using the update didn't show any updates for Photoshop CS6 only Illustrator cs6. And this update on the Adobe download site only appears to be available for the mac and not the pc.
So where is this update and what is the Adobe play to keep CS6 Suite of non-cloud products up-to-date.
After the most recent update - when I opened Photoshop CS6 again, my workspace was all messed up . The worst of all: the curves panel has disappeared, and does not appear in the window menu.
What happened? There isn't even an option to get the curves panel back.
I have CS6/CR 7.2. I have had this issue where my file dates became changed (8000 odd files) so I had to restore 23000 files from backup .
When investigating trying to find out what happened. when I open a JPG from Windows Explorer, photoshop is set to use Camera Raw for jpg files on open (ok). If I cancel the dialog, nothing happens (ok). If I click Done or Open Image, the file itself has the "Date Taken" time updated - 7 hours ahead of the original correct time.
This pretty much matches the date issue I have on the 8000 files. Is this expected behaviour? Why would Camera Raw update Date Taken and did it choose 8 hours because I am in the PST timezone (GMT-8 or currently GMT-7 with daylight savings)?
I have reproduced this on 4 or file random files - taking copies and comparing afterwards.
I have just purchased Photoshop CS6 and ran the updater from within Photoshop. I know some of the updates worked but not all. So I ran it again 3 or 4 attempts now have failed with this message:-
It has failed to install -
Extension Manager 6.0.6 Update
with the error message -Installation failed. Error Code: U44M1P7
I have found a solution on the forum- Download and install the updates manually. Go to [URL]...updates and download the update that you are trying to install. There is no update available there which refers to Extension Manager 6.0.6 Update
I opened the Adobe Application Manager and run it for updates, it reports I'm good - no updates! But when I then try for an update from within Photoshop I still get the same message telling me I need to instal ExtensionManager 6.0.6 UpdateI have tried to find the error log from within my system - but failed misserably (I am on Windows 7-64)
where do I go from here? Do I need Extension Manager? What does it do? Is it vital I install this update?
I'm finding a really strange and inconsistent bug when managing my Layer Comps. I am dependent on Layer Comps, they're behaving inconsistently in CS6.
When manoeuvering between Layer Comps, the updates I'm making to save a Layer Comp and move on to another are SOMETIMES not working. I set a comp, move to another, go BACK to the original one and it's messed up.
I can't download updates from the update option in PS CS 5.1. Also having trouble installing the update directly from ADOBE. The program is crashing my system on a regular basis.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter every point update, some of Photoshop's preferences get reset (interface colour is the most noticeable). This also happens with point updates to Illustrator and InDesign.

The new Smart Sharpen (Photoshop CC) is very nice especially the possibility of enlarging the preview window. However the update when adjusting the sliders is quiet slow despite the fact that I have a rather powerful configuration.
