Photoshop :: Basic Image Extraction

Feb 23, 2009

how to crop a section of an image and paste it into another picture. Im pretty lamen when it comes to PS so the easier the better. What i am trying to acheive and learn, is to outline the shape of an item in a picture and copy that shape to the clipboard, to paste onto another picture. EG in the pic below id like to separate the BARN and GRAIN SILO form the background, so that i can paste it into another pic.

I would consider myself intermediate photoshop, but to the photoshop community most likely a nub. anyways, I have been trying with different ways to extract this breaker from an image, with all attempts looking edgy and not professional.

GIMP :: Remove Background In Basic Image

Oct 14, 2011

I have a basic image and I just want to remove the background and be LEFT just with the image (i.e. No white background).

I have opened the image with Gimp and on this image I was able to "add alpha channel" which I believe needs to be done. Do I need to do anything after I add the Alpha channel?

This is what I did next:

The image is 100% and background 1.1mb. Select Fuzzy tool and position cursor over the background and click. The image and the image background have the moving dashes going around them.

Next I hit the delete key and the background goes checkered. Still there are the moving dashes around the image and the background outer square. Next I hit autocrop and I am left with a reduced checkered background around the image.

My question - what do I do from here. I just want the image with no background what so ever; also is there anything I need to do with saving too.

Previously I have saved this and when I go to use the image it appears to be much the same as the original with a white background.

Photoshop Elements :: How To Reset Text On Image Back To Basic Black Text

May 20, 2013

Using Elements 9 I was adding black text to a .jpg image. Somehow during the process, the text being entered defaulted to a "wavy, illegible set of characters". Spent 30+ minutes looking at FAQs and have given up. I want to reset to default simple clear black characters. Closing and restarting Elements does not resolve this issue. When ending a newly entered set of text - still get "wavy, illegible set of characters!"

Photoshop :: Background Extraction

Mar 13, 2007

I just tried a demo of OnOne's MaskPro 4. Although I've got to spend some time with it, it appears that this may be the answer to the 'background removal' issue we all wrestle with. It's features may already exist in some other extraction plug-ins,

but they're new to me. Following their tutorial movies, I was able to eliminate a complex background and maintain at least 80% of the hair detail. I'm sure that once I get a feel for what I'm doing with it I'll be able to hold 95-98%.

Photoshop :: Opinions On My Extraction Job

Mar 11, 2007

I had a picture of some flowers that I took and I thought they came out pretty nice but the background was a mess. I have extracted before, many times but not really much with the extract tool. So I decided to give myself a project and to extract this picture using the extract tool and the history brush which I also never use. I knew these tools were available but always took alternate routes to extract.

I also sharpened the flowers, etc. It took me quite a while but it was a fun and educational project and I wanted to share my results and get some opinions. Here are the 2 pics, any comments are appreciated as I would really like to be able to master this technique. If you click on the extracted image you can see a bigger version of it.

If you had this picture how would you extract the person from it..(show sample)
I know its low-res, pixelated at the edges, the works but assume this is the job you got...

I've been giving it a run most of the afternoon just as a exercise on low res extractions which is often the case for me...I am normally ok at low-res extractions.

Photoshop :: Placing Mask Behind Extraction

Jan 30, 2007

I used to work with another artist at a graphic design firm and he showed me a really cool way to put like an empty black, blurred mask behind people cutout or extraction which gave an illusion of depth. The mask really helped make the subject not look like an obvious knockout. He went through the steps and I should heave written it down, but failed to do so and lost the techniques.

I have been experiementing with doing a female model with flowing hair, like you see on the better fashion mags, saving the sel in channels and doing my editing there. Then I have tried using channel copies and using layer masks and it's still not the trick or result the PS artist was doing.

how I might be able to pull this masking technique out of the hat?

The old blocks still export fine.

Well its the case. With the same order in target and source models (A-B-C)

Incidentally, I've extracted data from the same drawing in 2012 and 2013, and it all works fine in 2012.

AutoCAD VB :: Text Value Extraction To Excel

Mar 8, 2012

I have a favor to ask. In my drawings i have two distinct layer names (Say "ew" and "ns"). On these layers i have numerous plain text numbers in 5mm increments which are repeated many times throughout the drawing. What i would like to do is be able to start a VBA macro, have it ask the user to select an area by window on the drawing file, and have VBA look up and count the sum of all instances of each number occurring in the selected window. Then dump them into an excel spread sheet which i will then manipulate from there. An example output would look something like below: "NS" Layer Quantities... Height 25 30 35 40 45 and so on Total 56 33 62 39 50 "EW" Layer Quantities... Height 25 30 35 40 45 and so on Total 56 33 62 39 50 The ouput would require two rows of information. The top number would be the number on the drawing as text item and the lower row would be the total number of times that number appears in the selected area.

AutoCad :: Data Extraction Tables

Here at the office we use a template I created using Data Extraction. After creating the table and inserting it, it works just fine. Then, if you make changes to the door or window you can click the "Download Changes From Source File" and it will update the table ... However, after saving it and trying to work on it the next day, it somehow unlinks the table I have in my drawing and I cannot "Download Changes From Source File" to update the table ... I checked under XREF and it shows it is loaded and I have it reading from the same path I saved it. I would like to know if there is a way to re-link the table to the .dxe file or how to prevent from it un-linking new tables?

Photoshop :: Basic Layer

Feb 19, 2009

I open an image/ Background layer. I duplicate that layer, and apply a Levels adjustment that I'm happy with.

I decide to do an "effect" layer such as sharpening, etc., but I want to be able to control the effect of the "Sharpening" Layer with the Opacity Slider, without effecting the Levels Layer below.

If I Duplicate the Levels Layer, or select Layer New-"Layer Via Copy" for the Sharpening Layer, moving the Opacity Slider, on the Sharpening Layer, will also effect the degree of Levels adjustment on the Levels Layer, as it's a Duplicate of that layer.

"New Layer", or "New Layer From Background" doesn't seem to work either?

1. Photoshop, is it a generally easy program to learn?

2. Do you need to buy a book/tutorial or any of that stuff to really handle Photoshop or can you just tinker with the program and in a few months be able to handle it like a pro?

3. How do you add a border to an image using Photoshop?

4. How do you add letter or even a sentence in an image using photoshop?

Photoshop :: Basic Color

Feb 13, 2006

I am making an image which will act as a border for a website. So i am using a color to blend to two together.

Which i thought would be easy seen as i had the HEX code for the color i was using. I have set the background of my page to the color (#CCFF99), and i have tried to fill in my image with the same color, but when they are both on the page, they look like a completly different shade.

Am i doing something wrong, or am i asking too much that i want the same shade on both an image and a page. I thought that was one of the plus points to HEX codes, so that i could have the same shade over and over!
