View 6 RepliesI am attempting to export some file that have alpha channels to a program that will only accept GIF format.
When i try to save the file in Photoshop it will only allow me to save it as a copy, unlike photoshop 7 and when i export the file the alpha chanel does not export making the transparency solid white
Is there any way that you know to either save the picture in native GIF and not a copy or export the transparency?
im trying to add an alpha layer or alpha channel to a bitmap and save in BMP format.
I am using Photoshop 6.
how do I find Format - instant alpha?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere is a big bug in the CS6 , tiff file format have change, and when i generate a tiff file ( flaterned image with alpha layer) in photoshop CS6 or after effect CS6,the alpha layer can not be used in indesign CS5, i need to open my tiff in photoshop CS5.5 and save it agin to get a working image.
If i open the image generate by CS6 ( photoshop or after) in photoshop (any version) or indesign CS6 alpha layer is working fine, but not in the previous version of indesign ....
I'm having the hardest time trying to get an flv with transparency.
I have a series of numbered photoshop files. Each file contains one partially transparent layer (no mask), and when I open the files as an image sequence, the transparency looks good. However, when I export to FLV with Alpha enabled, my FLV doesn't seem to have an alpha channel.
Is there a way to export an alpha channel to apply it to new file?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi once exported images (blurred) without any background. I used these in flash afterwards.
I was shown how to do this with chanels or masks but i cant remember the procedure -
again - im looking to save (pict, tiff, ....???) files from photoshop WITHOUT a background colour and keeping opacity (transparent gifs are not good enough).
Been doing this for years... from After effects CC Composition, Save frame as, File, Photoshop, RGB+Alpha etc - and its worked fine exported with transparency like you'd expect.
Updated Photoshop CC this morning and suddenly alpha channel not being recognised...Bug...or have I gone mad in the last 24 hours??
I am using X4 and am familiar with chroma keying and setting backgrounds but I am trying to export the video with the alpha channel so I can create a flash file with transparency to use for walk on video (where the person appears in the foreground of the site with wmode set to transparent).
I have Corel Motion 3D and some of the kbase was suggesting I needed to use that to export with the alpha channel but it would be a lot simpler to be able to push it out from X4. Even if I can do it as non-flash file I can take it to something like Ijoysoft and convert to flash.
I think this is related to Xara's inability to export alpha transparency properly. I've talked about this before, somewhere. Feel free to find the old post.
The thing is, without a decent export the feature is largely useless isn't it? .Xar is almost never the destination format.
I can get round the edges issue by printing to PDF instead of exporting, but then the bounds of the original bitmaps are visible. So neither solution is any good at all. Surely this is a massive problem?
I tried exporting a container, but that didn't work.... Is there any other way?

I haven't tested every single combination yet in the publish menus. To save me trying them all, is there any option that works to publish all the shots in a sequence together with alpha channel?
I have a sequence of CFXa clips with matte output connected in CFX, I duplicate the sequence and commit cfx... every clip has a matte container. So far, so good. Now I want to output the whole sequence as individual shots with alpha.
Tried the EDL option, changing file type to OpenEXR... no alpha. Tried EDL, changing output type to movie and then selecting ProRes 4444. Alpha was solid black.
Is it possible to get publish to create individual movie files for each shot at all? Everytime I try this it writes one continuous quicktime file even though I select a shot number token. Writing individual shots seems only to work with image sequences, is that the case?
I have created a logo using Illustrator CS5 and need to import it into a video sequence in Final Cut Pro 6. The logo has a transparent background. It seems FCP 6 will import both native .ai files as well as .tiff files, but when I open them in FCP 6, the alpha channel (transparent background) is no longer there; there is just the logo over a white background.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a few MOV format videos that I need to rotate and re-save with PS CS6. I've never tried video editing with Photoshop, and this must be the most basic of basic starts in my next career as a film producer. I assume I just go to Image > Image Rotation as one does with image files? Then when I export the video, and select QuickTime MOV format, the resulting file does not actually have any video in it -- only audio. And despite having no video apparently, the file size is huuuge.
I have QuickTime viewer installed, but do not have a licence for QuickTime full version. Is that it?
Shall I just export to mp4 and be done with it? I would prefer to be consistent... so that I have all MOV files (I won't have to rotate / edit all video files, only some).
I have to send a company a photo in RGB format - I can convert it from JPEG to RGB, but can not get it to export out of Photoshop Elemement 11 - Also I really am not sure what RGB is, perhaps I don't need to know - I got a file onto my desktop that I believe was saved as RGB, but can not remember how I did it? Also can I share from Photoshop Elements 11 to other sites such as Istock or FB?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is not a specific Photoshop question, but a general, portable graphics format -- not for web page display, but for sharing with different graphics designers, who might be using different graphics editors PhotoShop, PaintShopPro, GIMP, etc. A format that preserves layers, vector graphics, etc., for editing.
Is there any general, standard format that preserves all these editing features but is portable between most sophisticated graphics editors?

View 1 Replies View Relatedany difference between alpha layer and alpha channel? I mean has to be right? I just don't know what exactly that would be if there is. I'm trying to figure out some more stable uses for computer graphics when building textures with alpha layer or alpha channels. So far I get a flicker from opengl bug when using alphas. So I'm wondering if I use Alpha layer and something with a solid color underneath the geometry if I could achieve a more stable result where alpha sorting. Possibly clearing it up where my alpha layered geometry stays on top vs bleeding through at times it seems.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some fotos that are apparently too small for the 1920 x 1080 format of my film.
What do I need to master about the relationship between three items (canvas size, image size, and document size) so that I can smoothly resize a bunch of images in Photoshop for export into Premiere Pro in that 1920 x 1080 format?
I will be constraining my proportions... if the images are too big, I will do a Ken Burns "zoom out" effect in the film.
Resolve the problem with export to PLT format? Since one day my X5 starts export objects larger than they are to PLT. Ex. text which should be 200mm wide is in PLT 250mm.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trialing the DG&P of xara. I am creating embroidery files in another software. I need to import in .emf. Most of my clipart, etc that I use is jpeg or png. I am wanting to take those into a program, create the vector file, and import to the embroidery software so that I can manipulate/simplify how I need to to create the stitch out. So, when I am in xara and I bring the image in, I select all and choose export in the .emf format....I figured that out. But, when I bring it into the other software I have a blank page. So, I figure I am missing something. Is there a quick way to convert the outline I bring in (in png) to vectors so that it can export and be manipulated in the other software in .emf? or do I trace the file in xara as I would in the other software, have a rough sketch, and then export? Where is the best info on what to do? I am pretty good at following tutorials and lessons but before I buy I just want to make sure it does what I am wanting it to do.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Revit Architecture 2012 and am trying to export a project file in a .fbx format to start using Autodesk Showcase which I just downloaded a free trial for. For whatever reason, Revit won't let me export any file in a .fbx format. Instead of being able to click on that as an option, it's greyed out. Is there an update I need to download or an fbx plug-in I need to get to utilize the fbx exporting function??
PS: I've put myself in the 3D view which I know can be an issue of why the fbx export function is greyed out.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a created a video using my Sony XE105 handycam in HD and edited it successfully using X2.
I can then export it to WMV format and view the file in superb quality in windows media player. However, when I try to export into FLV format, I get the message about converting and it sits at 0%. I have left it for over a half hour without any movement before deeming it as having "hung" and trying again.
I'd really like to export movies in FLV format rather than WMV?
I have been using Xara Designer Pro 7 for almost a month now and love it so far, but I cannot seem to export graphics in the PSD format. I never had this problem with Xara DP 6. When I go to export, I have tried it both ways, as "Selected Images" and "Entire Page" and all I get is a blank image.
I would really like the PSD export to work because I design web pages in Xara and then bring them into Photoshop Elements 9 or Photoshop CS5 or Fireworks CS5 to slice them up for html pages. This worked great in Xara Designer Pro 6.
I know this probably an issue for Xara support, but I figured I would ask here first because I might get a quicker response. Maybe I can doing something wrong? Do I need to do something with layers?
