Photoshop :: Zoom To Print Size Feature Completely Removed From 13.0.2

Dec 11, 2012

Adobe decided to remove the 'Print Size' button/option from the 'Zoom' tool in Photoshop 13.0.2..I use this heavily as I run a print lab and I often need to show people on screen what the size of their print will be (I have set the correct ppi for each display in preferences).

I am absolutely amazed they could remove a feature like this without any warning in a minor update. The irony is that for the first time ever retina displays have enough resolution to assess sharpness without going to 100% and the 'View Print Size' is more useful than ever before.

I will probably have to roll back to the last Photoshop version on all systems but before I do, any way to get the 'Print Size' option back?

Photoshop :: Print Size Menu Removed In CS6 Version 13.0.4

Apr 8, 2013

In Photoshop CS6 under the view menu "print size" has been removed in version 13.0.4. Until 13.0.3 it was still there. Is there a good reason for it? Any known alternative? Workaround? I did use it a lot and miss it. On my main workstation I even went back to 13.0.3.

My guess is, that for "print size" showing the correct size on a given screen, the relevant screen resolution had to be set in preferences, and one had to know it, otherwise "print size" showed inproper size on screen. That might have led to remove it to not confuse retina screen users?

Photoshop :: Drop Down Zoom Level Removed In CS6?

Aug 8, 2012

if you have used CS6 you may have noticed the Applications bar was removed. According to Adobe it was removed to make more vertical "real estate" for the workspace which makes no sense. When maximized it uses zero additional vertical space but that's another argument.

As part of the Applications bar, there was a drop down menu for a few preset zoom levels. 25, 50, 100 and 200. I got addicted to using this drop down for the work I do in PS and specifically 100 and 200% as I'm also zoomed in make minor changes and I want to jump to 100 or 200% to see what the changes look like at size or zoomed out.

drop down menu like that for zoom in CS6? I know the original shortcut ctrl-1 was for actual pixels but I have that and all the other keys close to the left ctrl/shift/alt used for other functions. I rarely take my right hand off the mouse as I work and that was the best way for me to zoom quick to 100%.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Elements 8 - Print Not Printing Completely?

Jan 24, 2013

From time-to-time, I seem to have had a temporary printing issue with Photoshop Elements 8, whereby the photo I was trying to print would not be printed completely, but part of it would be cut off, as if the printer's print-head would not be receiving the data from Photoshop past a certain point in one particular plane.

Up to this morning, I had never encountered any printing issue with Photoshop CS6, which I have had, and printed with, for the past 6 months or so. This morning, however, I encountered the same issue, for the first time, using Photoshop CS6. It is now printing properly again, but why do I occasionally encounter this with either software?

When I normally print, I like to print photos to exact sizes, but which vary greatly, and so I prefer the technique of creating a new blank A4-sized document and dragging my photo into this document and, by using Free Transform, size the photo to my exact requirements, before printing onto good quality A4 glossy or sometimes matte paper.

What happened this morning was that, using the technique above, I was trying to print a very small passport-sized photo over to the right-hand side of a sheet of A4 paper, with the blank document in the portrait orientation. My photo was only partially printed, and cut off past a certain point in the horizontal plane. By dragging my photo further towards the centre of the blank A4-sized document and reprinting onto the same sheet of A4 worked fine. After experimenting a little by printing the photo in various places on the same sheet of A4, I discovered that the photo was not printing past a certain point, in the horizontal plane, towards the right-hand side of the sheet of A4.

This cut off point was consistent in every printing attempt. There was a certain point to the right-hand side of the sheet of A4, where, in the horizontal plane, it would simply not print past. By measuring this cut off point in the horizontal plane, it is 4.8cm from the right-hand edge of the sheet of A4, in its portrait orientation. After resetting all tools, turning the PC and printer off and then on again, launching Photoshop CS6 and retrying, it seems to be printing correctly again, and I am able to print my photo anywhere on the sheet of A4, without anything being cut off past a certain point.

Photoshop Elements :: 12 Organizer - Zoom Feature Reverts After Instant Fix Application

In PSE12, Organizer, when I zoom in to see a photo, and apply Smart Fix or Rotate left or right. when the program finishes, I see the save icon, then the screen zooms out to the page with the first file in the folder.  Quite annoying when I'm trying to see the effects of the Smart Fix.  I have to refind the photo and zoom in again.  I'd like to stay where i was until i get a chance to look at the corrections.  How do I stop that?

GIMP :: Why Image With Most Of Pixels Removed Is Creating A Larger File Size

Mar 5, 2011

I've been using GIMP to make GIFS for a long time now, but recently the "optimize for difference" option I've used is having the reverse effect it should have- ie, it's making the file larger. Here's an example. It's the exact same image, same dimensions, same amount of colors. The first one is unoptimized, each frame is a full picture, and it's file size it ~149kb. The second one is the same as the first, except optimized with about ~50% of the pixels removed from each frame (except the first frame obviously), and yet it's file size is ~155kb. I can not for the life of me figure out why an image with most of it's pixels removed is creating a larger file size. [URL]...

3ds Max :: Imported Model From Sketchup - Zoom Feature In Viewport

Nov 14, 2013

I imported a model into 3dsMax from Sketchup.

The model is a 5200 sf interior building space that I had applied materials & components to in Sketchup.

Now that I am working on the model in 3ds Max, I am having some issues with the application of materials to the objects. Basically, some of the objects kept some of the materials that I had applied in Sketchup; however, some of the materials did not come through into Max. When I try to remedy this and apply the correct materials to the object, it is linked/grouped to several other objects in the model that I do not want to apply the material to.

I have tried to make a copy of the material in the material editor and then reapply to the object, but it still applies it to several other unrelated objects.

Also, I seem to be having trouble with my zoom feature in the viewport....my zoom will sometimes work, but sometimes it will zoom all the way to extents of the model, and won't let me zoom back into the interior of the model space; I don't know if this problem is related to the previous issue.

I created a property ("PLAT") for Parcels and want to hyperlink it to a PDF.  How do I make that happen?

Do I have the ability to limit my layers to my Zoom Factor?  I see other GIS Maps that have layers limited per how far you are zoomed into the drawing.

Can i adjust my Map Feature 'hatch' to be more faded per our color table or even send it to the back and still have the abiltiy to list my features after i publish to DWF?

I draw a circle 1" from the top of the image. The circle is 3" in radius.

When I print the circle is nearly .25" smaller in radius and slightly less than 1" from the top.

Why is the output not in the same placement and proportions as the image on the screen?

Photoshop :: Why Is CS6 Zoom Change Window Size Is Different Than Previous Versions

Sep 23, 2012

Why in CS6 when zoom changes window size and a floating window fits in Photoshop window or on other display screen do I get scroll bars where a select all selection marching ants are not visible on all four sides till I drag out the window to get rid of the scroll bars so I can see all of marching ants.

In previous versions of Photoshop space for scroll bars is present but there are no scroll bar, select all marching ants are visible on all four sides when an image's window fits in Photoshop window or on second display. Is there a way to make CS6 work like previous versions? Also if I just open a document and Photoshop fits it to Photoshop window or second display the floating window is correct without scroll bars.

When I go to print, I click "scale to fit media" (which is an 8.5 x 11 paper sitting in printer)  image prints smaller  with a bar on one side.  .

AutoCad :: 2012 Layout Print And Designjet T2300 / D Size Incorrect Print Rotation

Jun 13, 2012

I have a template with layouts of different sizes that had been working fine with a previous Xerox 6204. My D size and E size automatically oriented with the 36" side parallel to the roll feed. I have since moved to a job that got a Designjet T2300. On this machine the D size orients the 24" side parallel. This wastes 1' of paper on the left and uses 1' extra as it runs the 36" side perpendicular. I have been unable to rectify the problem. I have tried printing in portrait, that actually cut off some of the image. I have tried all types of rotation within the driver and layouts. Tech support had me going into the machine settings and set rotation to 90. Nothing. There is a warning that "HP utilities" is not installed. Could this be a remedy? When the tech came to set up the printer he installed the necessary drivers but mad no mention of this utility.

Revit :: How To Change Sheet Size For Zoom

Feb 21, 2012

We are trialling Revit for the first time and have made good progress in modelling a building we have already designed.

We have set up an A1 title sheet to match our existing one and have successfully printed at A3 by using the Center option with zoom 50%.

However when the zoom sheet size icon is selected the view zooms to an A4 Landscape view and I would rather it zoomed to the extents of the A1 frame but I haven't been able to redefine the sheet settings. Where I can find these settings?

I have opened all Metric Title block families from A0 to A4 and they all appear to zoom to an A4 Landscape extent. Amusingly the A4 Metric Title block is Portrait.

GIMP :: Pixel Size To Print A Certain Size

Oct 17, 2013

I want to create a template whereby I can make a series of images that I can save as jpgs, upload to my blog, and people can print them. When they print, I want them to be one quarter of a sheet of paper (fit four to a page).

I tried creating a new image using the "inches" specification and those inches seem to have no bearing on inches in real life once printed.

So then I figured that a sheet of paper is 8.5 by 11 and I want a resolution of 300 dpi.

So 8.5 times 300: 2,550 pixels. Times that by 0.25 to get a quarter of it: 637.5 (which gets rounded to 638 pixels).

11 times 300: 3,300 pixels. Times that by 0.25= 825 pixels.

So I put in for 638 pixels by 825 pixels and 300 dpi. I created my image. I saved it as a jpg at full resolution. I uploaded it to my site and tested out the printing.

It took up most of a sheet of paper. Not even close to being a quarter of a sheet.

GIMP :: Print Size Changes In 2.8 To Wrong Size

May 7, 2013

I've been using 2.6 and created a template for multiple business cards on a standard 8.5 by 11 sheet. [URL]

However the later versions ... 2.8 cause distortions when I try to print. ( Canon MG 2120) The standard 8.5 by 11 mysteriously converts to 7.997 by 10.349 inches .... and a weird 318.870 ppi appears. This obviously distorts my template and the 2 by 3.5 inch cards become odd sizes. When I open the template in 2.6, it works perfectly.

What has happened to the later version? i can't reset to inches and even using the 2559 by 3300 pixils with the 1050x600 card sizecan't be printed accurately So I'm now creating in 2.8 and opening in 2.6 to get my sizes correctly.

I love the expanded tools for drawing in the 2.8 ... but this feature is a nuisance ... along of course with the terrible sizing scale for the brushes. SO hard to calibrate the smaller and moe common sizes. Another bad feature.

Have I missed some adjustment somewhere. Using the same printer, same download gives two different prints sizes in 2.6 and 2.8.

Illustrator :: Same Print Size / Same DPI But Different Size On Screen?

Jul 10, 2012

lately I've been started working on Illustrator, since I've always loved the vector pen tool in Photoshop, but I've notice something...

let's say I want to work on an A4 page. I start a new PRINT document, and set the A4 size at 300 DPI. If I do that on Photoshop, I'll get a huge white page that at 100% goes way out my screen, but if I start a document with the same size in Illustrator, I get a page that's smaller than my screen (at 100%).

I guess it's normal because those programs might work in different ways, but I'm concerned about it because this way, in Illustrator a 1pt size brush will always be bigger than in Photoshop.
