Photoshop :: Why CS5.1 Converting Image

May 6, 2012

I am trying to create a card, using a standard layout size of 4.25 x 8.25. I have the resolution set to 300 PPI.

While adding layers, I am also adding in some images to the card for a newborn. The image res is 300 DPI, but once I open the image in PS, then pull it down into the new project, it auto commits to a 72 DPI. I can't for the life of me figure out why it is doing this.

I have tried going into the image>image size and changing it to 300 DPI, but even after I change it, when I go to the file information page, it tells me that the image is still set to 72 DPI.

Photoshop :: Converting Selection To Vector (image)

Mar 15, 2013

I have a logo that I created for test purposes at a lower resolution. Is it possible to take the active selection of the logo and create a vector from it without having to manually trace over it with the pen tool or adobe illustrator (I do not own illustrator). If I could do this within Photoshop that would be my preference.

Photoshop :: Converting Scanned-in Analog Image Back To Digital Original

Feb 23, 2012

I have a very large piece of artwork in my possession. The artwork was originally drawn in high-resolution on a computer, but a true digital copy of the original is not available to the public.

My copy of the artwork is large enough such that the original pixels can just barely be distinguished by the naked eye. I would like to scan it in at extremely high resolution, or take photos of it (multiple photos of various sections may be necessary for enough resolution). Afterwards, I am wondering if Photoshop, some available filter, or other image-processing program would be able to analyze this ultra-resolution scan and reconstruct a perfect copy of the original digital image?

The idea is that if I can see the original pixels with my eye, Photoshop should be able to likewise deduce all the original pixels of the original digital image, and reconstruct it as such via some algorithm, in the original resolution.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Converting Image Files To DWG

Nov 11, 2009

I'm doing an internship at school and need to convert alot of .tiff files and .dpf files into drawings. I also experimented with a program that converted the files from raster format into vector format. This is what I've found so far...

Able2Extract – Works very well when it does. Creates everything on 1 layer. Has options to use Autocad 2000 color palette or Autocad 2004 color palette. 2004 palette usual fails. Program works 50% of the time.

Aide PDF to DXF – Worked very well, once. Tried multiple floor plans and it came out chicken scratch.

AutoDWG VectorNow - Terrrrribllleeeeeee.

AlgoLab Raster 2 Vector – Miserable failure.

Any decent programs to convert these files?

Illustrator :: Converting Design (Logo) To Image

Jan 14, 2013

I've created a logo, and I'd like to use it in some PDF documents. I've tried several different methods for converting it into an image, but the image quality really degrades when I do. Maybe I'm expecting too much - since the vector image is essentially perfect - but it seems like there should be a way to come up with a decent looking image. Is there a "best practice" for this process?

Illustrator :: Printing To Epsom Inkjet - Color Image Converting To Greyscale

Aug 6, 2013

I'm trying to print colour to my epsom inkjet but for some reason Illustrator keeps converting my colour image to greyscale.

Now I've been using Illustrator for years and this is a new problem I've not come across before.  Is there something I can do to stop it doing it - maybe there's a setting that has accidentally switched on that converts all to greyscale.

If not then I suppose I'll have to revert to "turning it on and off again"!

Photoshop :: Converting Full Colour Image To 2-colour?

I have the pantone reference numbers for the 2 colours it is to be converted to. I am familiar with the hue/saturation tool, but this just seems to convert it to one colour, and you have no fine control over the exact colour you want.

Photoshop :: Converting For The Web

Oct 23, 2012

Whenever I want an image that I have edited in Photoshop to look good in a browser, I have to convert the image to my monitor's profile for it to look the way it did in Photoshop.  So, the workflow is 1) finish editing 2) convert to profile for my monitor's profile 3) Save for web...

Color mgmt makes my head swim but I sort of see why this is.  But my question is, most places on the web, I see people are just converting to SRGB for the web and I will say that that does not work for me at all.  Does that mean they are talking about converting the color space and not the profile?

I admit that my monitor in its uncorrected stated is way off.  That is to say, after I run the Spyder software my monitor colors look a LOT different.  I shouldn't think this would matter but I'm just throwing it out there.  I am a Windows user.

The reason I am asking this is because when I try converting images on export in LIGHTROOM to my monitor profile it does no good.  The image looks terrible in the browser.

Am I missing something?  Do I have a setting set wrong somewhere or does everybody have to convert to the monitor profile to get stuff to look right in a browser.

Photoshop :: Converting CMYK To RGB

Nov 22, 2011

I am trying to create a header for my e newsletter in Photoshop. I want to put the logo on top of a background of the same color as my logo. I have the CMYK ref for the logo, and this looks fine when I print it out. However, when viewed online or just on the computer - the background red is slightly brighter than in print.

I have tried using an RGB converter to change CMYK to RGB but this hasn't done anything.
