I am trying to make a template & so far so good. One problm I'm having is with my Vertical Text. I can make the text fine, goto layer---> raster & Crtl + T to rotate, but I am unable to find a way to make the letters go sideways down the side of the picture.

But I want the top of the letters to all face the left side of the picture.
There must be a way, but I just cant seem to find out how.
I choose the vertical type tool or the vertical type on a path tool or the vertical area type tool...and all I get are letters that are rotated 90 degrees clockwise that go down in a vertical line. The effect is the same as if I took one of these lines that I am typeing here and rotated the entire line 90 degrees clockwise. That is not the effect I want. I am tying to get vertical letters stacked on top of one another in a line going vertical. I watched videos and they simply pick the tool and it functions this way, but when I pick the same tool I do not get this vertical orientation of the individual letters, but the 90 degree rotated letter.Â
AI CS5 in Windows 7. Â I made a rectangle and converted it into a path. Type in the rectangle 16 words stacked one on top of the other. Used the Fit Headline for each word so it would fit the box no matter what the font size is. Attempted to use the Align tool, but it doesn't work. Used the Character flyout for spacing between each word, but it doesn't make and equal distribution. Â I am somewhat new to AI and mostly working in PS, but I don't like the type quality in PS so on to AI. I do not know ID in case ayone was wondering.
I have an Adobe Illustrator CS6 document with body copy set using 6.5 pt. Helvetica Neue LT Std. - Bold Condensed & Light Condensed. Â After saving the file as a PDF in Illustrator using the [Smallest File Size] setting, closing the file, and opening the newly saved PDF in Illustrator - the 6.5 pt. text is now 5.53 pt. with a vertical scaling of 117.65%. Â This PDF is for client review purposes - on screen or laser print - not for reproduction. We try to keep the file size as small as possible to make downloading and e-mail attachments manageable. Â In this case, my client is opening the PDF in Illustrator to double-check the text point sizes for legal & regulatory purposes.
If I save the same Illustrator file as a PDF using other settings like [High Quality Print], the text size is unchanged. Â Â I was able to repeat the issue using Helvetica LT Std in place of Helvetica Neue LT Std. Â I have attached some screen shots for reference. Â Illustrator Source screen shot

I have been using Elements 8 for some time and recently purchased an ASUS monitor that is at home in both vertical and horizontal modes. Can I change the Elements 8 format to work in a vertical format to accommodate the larger size possible with a vertical image. It is difficult to manipulate the functions in Elements when the mouse is working in a horizontal mode and you are viewing a large image in a vertical format. If the format of the Elements 8 software can be changes to vertical, any protocol (directions) to accomplish this?Â
While using the 3D extrude and bevel tool, specifically the isometric preset from the position drop down menu. I am noticing that when I expand the shape (in this case a perfect cube), the vertical paths are not exactly perfect, and are not truly vertical, but off slightly. Is this something that can be fixed or adjusted in the settings, or is this how the tool works?
I'm using AI CC now, but I noticed this problem in earlier versions of AI: If I want to place a one-word label on an illustration I move the type insertion cursor to a speific point on the screen image and click, but then the flashing insertion point, where the label will actually start, pops up elsewhere, usually a line or two above where the cursor was, and a pica or two to the left, forcing me to type the label, then move it into position rather than simply typing it in the right place and moving on. The problem is merely annoying, but I'd like to fix it. It's probably a matter of ignorance-I simply haven't read the right documentation, but I don't know what to call the problem. Where can I find out how to change the position of the cursor relative to the insertion point?
I want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
My Type Tool does not select type by double clicking or click and drag. (Windows CS 5 V15.1). This is what I have tried so far and the problem still exists. Â Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it. Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it. Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.
the type tool won't let me insert any type whatsoever in JPG or PSD files. I click the type tool and then click somewhere on the image and all it gives me is a dot but no flashing cursor. As I said, resetting my prefs/settings while starting up Photoshop did not help. Another weird thing it does is that when I go to Canvas Size for a medium sized image, it says that the width is 588 inches and the height is 288 inches.
Working on a poster in Illustrator. Have added area type, using the type tool. Now I'd like to increase the size of one line. I can't select or edit any of the type with the type tool. I moved the type to a new layer, saved, closed Illustrator, restarted my Mac (OS X 10.7.4). Looked in preferences, in case there's an issue there. No luck. Â By the way, I also don't see handles when in the selection tool any more. Don't know if that's related.
I have a type layer with some text in it (a headline, let's say). I click on the layer, I click on the Character Panel, and first thing I see is the color in the Panel is not the color of the font in the layer. Â I then click on any Panel property, and the text in this layer is replaced by text from another layer in my document ( a paragraph layer, let's say), but the color is not the same as the layer the text came from.
Now I know I can do that with hitting enter while using horizontal text tool, but the spacing is wacked and looks funy. And using the vertical text tool produces text you read sideways -
when I am trying to extract an element of an image from a larger image (using a layer mask) come across straight sections - but at an angle - at this point it would be nice to be able to put a "ruler" across that section and brush against it for a nice clean line. I tried creating a marquee and using the boundary box to position it - but when I rotate the marquee it wants to take that bit of the image with it...
In CS6 when I crop, the crop would automatically be vertical on a vertical pic, and horizontal on a horizontal pic. The new CS7 (Photoshop CC) doesn't do that.
I have downloaded photos from an Iphone 4s to my desktop computer. The photos are horizontal and when I rotate them to vertical and try to save them I get the message " could not complete your request because of a program error". I have no problem doing this with photos from my Canon camera.Â
I have the same problem that I have seen others having.When I click inside the image, it gives me a tiny square instead of a vertical bar.I tried to and did resize the image to 1024 by 772 and 72 ppi.
I'm using CS6 and CC. I seem to need to switch to ARRANGE- 2-UP VERTICAL, a lot to compare 2 images. Is there an easy way to switch back and forth without going to the menus? Can I make an F-key?
I have a sketch placed on a layer with the blending mode set to multiply. When I change the opacity of that layer, instead of a smooth opacity change, vertical gaps appear on the image on that layer.
I was wondering if the is a way to go from a Inventor file type to a Solidworks file type. One of our customers is asking for one or the other following file types: .asm or .prt. Â Â

I'm trying to make a code editor UI for a personal project I'm going to start. But I can't figure out why Photoshop is aligning my line numbers "off". Â I'm using the font Source Code Pro I'm center aligning the numbers. Â I'm using Photoshop CS6 on OSX.
I have vertical lines spaced at 1/2 inch in my printed pictures and would like to get rid of them. It happens with Photoshop CS-6 but not with Microsoft Photo Editor. I'm using a HP Officejet 6500A Plus and the color printing is fine.  Additional info: I am using Windows 7 on a Dell. Service pack 1, 32 bit system.  It happens with pdf files, jpeg, and psd. I am managing colors with the printer. I am using best quality printing. I have tried Color Smart and Adobe settings for RGB on the printer dialog page. I have tried telling the printer that I am using HP premium plus, plain paper and Other photo papers (My paper is actually Staples high gloss photo supreme).  What is remarkable to me is that I get high quality prints with the same printer, same paper, same settings using Microsoft Photo Editor - no vertical lines at all. However MPE is not very versatile, and the pdf I am currently trying to print will not load onto MPE. Â
How can I convert a grayscale photo to a vertical LINE B/W image (no grayscale)? I can't find a way to do it with the filters in PS CS6. Is there a plug-in that will do that? Â Mac OSX10.6.6. Photoshop CS6.
