Photoshop :: Kodak Color Control Patches

Sep 23, 2013

I have been emailed the file of a painting by someone (on the other side of the world) who needs me to print some good quality copies of it on my R3880. On one edge of this is a strip titled  'Kodak color control patches' which is to enable me to obtain a good colour match on my reproductions. Any easy to understand click-by-click instructions as to how I use these patches. Also do I need any further software or hardware? I am using Photoshop CS5 with Windows.

Photoshop Elements :: Photos Look Like Film Negatives After Color Correcting

Aug 1, 2013

I tried following Scott Kelby's instructions for color correcting digital images in PSE 10. I was entering the values he gave for the R,G and Blue channels. I got off track and probably missed a step. Anyway, now when I try any of the auto correction features, my images look like film negatives and not like a regular digital image. How can I re-enable the auto correction features (levels, color correction, etc.) ?

Corel Ventura :: Kodak Color Management Corrupted?

I just tried to restore V10 defaults using F8 but the problem persists:Ventura 10 interface is corrupt and icons in the toolbar are hidden; I can see the desktop through the V10 toolbars. Only when I mouse over them they appear. But not all icons will appear.

If I try to run the color management dialog box I get printer driver errors. Is there a way to restore V10?

In the meantime I'll try to remove/reinstall V10.

AutoCAD 2013 :: PDF Underlay Is Un-useable

Aug 19, 2013

After loading a single 24x36 road plan and profile PDF drawing as an underlay, Autocad is so slow and jerky I couldn't work with it. The PDF file size is about 1 MB. I need to load at least 10 more, so it is a hopeless endeavor to use the PDFs. I'll have to convert them another format such as to JPG to get the job done.

How to use this functionality, but if the performance isn't greatly improved it might as well not even be included in the product.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: With Useable Multileaders

Jun 1, 2011

I am adding some complex details to my block library, and I want to include about 20 different multileaders in each block so that I have immediate and consistent access to the annotations.  I may use an individual block many timess in a drawing, but each instance of the block may only require me to use 4 or 5 of the multileaders.  I also want to be able to manipulate the multileaders in the same way as I do any regular multileader (change their position and location, landing length, align, etc) and even align and position them with other multileaders that are not part of the block.

How do I create or use a block in this way?  I essentially want to create a dynamic block of some sort, but I don't really know where to start.  Am I trying to do the impossible?  Would it be easier to just create a visibility parameter to keep the mleaders hidden, go into the block editor at every instance of the block, copy the mleaders I want to use, and paste them into the drawing?

Photoshop :: Transform A 4-color Picture Into A 2-color One At Reasonably Good Quality?

The problem I met is at the galley.I could, or migh, only be able to get a 2-color printer at reasonably good price.

The original design is 4-color. But the actual detail is not very important. They are book covers, which only need to protect the book.

Photoshop :: Color Picture To Color + Black And White

Dec 22, 2005

I have a color picture which I took, of a red berry bush. I want to remove all the color except for the red from the berries. I know how to lasso the berries, but I can't remove the color from the bush/background and leave the red berries.

Note: I did this once a couple years ago, and can't remember how I did it..I have some memories, but probably remember just enough to make me dangerous. I have done some searches but obviously the results are numeorus and I haven't found what I am looking for yet.

I know the solution involves selecting the berries and then inversing it and then setting all 3 colors to 0 for the background.

What I can do is
1) lasso the berries

2) inverse
what I can't figure out
1) it seems like there was 1 step about layering which enabled me to get started, but I don't remember this, it does seem like I am missing something very basic when I try to do this

3) Where is the color scale, the only thing I can find is the grayscale option which switches the entire project to black and white.

Photoshop :: Convert Color Picture To Grayscale And Another Color

Oct 1, 2005

I have a color picture, and I want to convert it to B&W, and then I want to add another color to it (for example – red). I don’t want to paint some areas in it, I want for example to keep all the red parts of the picture, or only part of the red parts.

It something like in the movie Schindler's List, in the B&W scene where you see a little girl with red coat.

Photoshop :: Open Kodak PhotoCD Files In CS5 - Is It Possible? (Win XP)

Jan 3, 2012

I have some old Kodak PhotoCD files (.PCD) that I would like to open in PS CS5.  After searching the KB and forums for info, I found the file "Photo CD.8BI" in the Goodies folder on my CS3 disk and copied it into C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS5Plug-insFile Formats.  Unfortunately, PS CS5 still will not open the .PCD files.

I could install CS3 again and use the Photo CD.8BI plug-in there, but I'd rather not install CS3 if I don't have to.

Any way to open/convert .PCD files in CS5, or is the .PCD format so old that it can't be done?  (I'm using Windows XP Home.)

Photoshop :: Kodak Photo CD Conversion Issues

Mar 6, 2008

The Kodak Photo CD seems to be obsolete these days, but I have a number of old Photo CDs from years ago, so I have an interest in converting the files to some other format in the best way possible. In trying to do so with Photoshop CS2, I've noticed some issues:

1. Highlights are washed out. This is not so bad when the highlights are in the sky and I just lose some cloud detail, but it's quite unpleasant when the highlights are in people's faces. When I try converting the files with Paint Shop Pro, results look somewhat inferior in other ways, but there's more detail in the highlights, so this seems to be a Photoshop problem.

2. Photoshop provides the option of 16-bit colour when importing from Photo CD, which looked good to me, so I used it. I've only just realized that, as far as I can tell, the Photo CD images contain only 8-bit colour information, so I've just been wasting space by saving large TIFF files with 16-bit colour. I wonder why Photoshop provides this useless option! Or does it have some purpose unknown to me?

Has anyone found a good way of converting Photo CD images that doesn't wash out the highlights?

Photoshop :: Scanned Negatives

Jul 22, 2012

I'm hoping I'm posting this on the right board, I'm still trying to learn where everything is at in this group.

I'm working on scanning some old mounted slides using a Canoscan 900F. I'm scanning them in as high resolution as I can and saving as .tiff. The file sizes are around 80 mb with dimensions in the vicinity of 6432x4352. I'm using Windows 7 and the scans looks good when I review them in the photo gallery, but when I open them in CS6 and look at the size, it's showing the actual size of the negative. I can change the view so I can see a bigger picture, but when I try to print it, it wants to print at the small size. I'm thinking I'm just missing something. How can I take the scanned slides and set them up so I can print larger prints. I would really like to do a couple as 8 x 10 for a Christmas present. What am I doing wrong?

Photoshop :: Images Display In Bridge As Negatives

Aug 18, 2013

I'm working on a textbook that's a mix of new images and pickups from the previous edition. I've noticed that many of the new images I've created with transparent backgrounds and saved as PSD files in CMYK mode display as negatives in Bridge.

I just now made some edits to a legacy file that was displaying properly in Bridge. I added some layers, deleted other layers, and saved the file with no color profile, and as soon as it refreshed in Bridge, it was a color negative.

what's going on here? I'm using Photoshop and Bridge CS5.1 on a Mac running  OS 10.8.4.
