when I place a SmartObject from an external file PSP CS3 seems to store it in the current file; if I change the external file, the placed object does not change automatically (I have to use the replace function to apply changes in the external file).
Is there any way to use external files as SmartObjects and apply changes in the external files automatically?
when using smartobjects that though the abilty to use filters works fine on their own filters cannot be applied while using actionsHas anyone else noticed this strange behavior? My Thoughts is that this is a bug left over from when filters could not be applied to smart objects that was never adjusted in the actions coding.
I have pasted a vector graphic from AI CS3 to PSP CS3 as SmartObject. Is it possible to use this vector graphic (without rasterizing) as the vector layer mask? If so, how to do this?
I'm currently trying to place a watermark on my images, and I'd like it to appear a certain distance from the edge, regardless of the image's size. I tried using the "Place" command, but I don't think there's a way to specify a distance from the edge.
I have Photoshop CS2 and have ordered InDesign CS3 after looking at a trial download. If I am shooting in camera raw and I want to transfer a part of an image onto a page without the background from the image, what is the best method for preparing the image... I don't necessarily need step by step instructions just to be pointed in the direction of the best method. For example we are working on a book about firearms in a museum collection and want to place some of the photos without backgrounds and some with backgrounds.
I am trying to create an action that would open a muli-page PDF file, select all the pages and place each page on its own layer, in the same Photoshop document.
Right now, it makes a new document in Photoshop of each page? Is there anyway to do this? With or without making an action?
How do I open or place a new layer BELOW the ORIGINAL. I have tried dragging and that doesn't work. I have tried control/click when I create a layer and that doesn't work.
A jpg image I'm working with loses resolution when placing. I'm suing a canvas of 695x423, trying both 72 and 300ppi (there's no difference). What silly mistake could be overlooked here? The shift in resolution is akin to looking at a image in InDesign in standard vs high quality.
placing text on a sphere. I've seperated a golf ball from a different picture and would like to place text on it, any ideas on making it look as if it was there when the picture was taken?
difference among placing bounding box, media box, crop box, bleed box, trim box and art box -- maybe even with some pictures or diagrams? (Photoshop Help is not very clear on this topic). Bounding box and media box make sense,
I am resizing a very large jpg image from 1544x1024 px to 170x113px using PS CS3. When I then place the image in Illustrator the image only fills 40x17px. I have tried saving the image as a jpg & psd file and the same thing happens.
I used to work with another artist at a graphic design firm and he showed me a really cool way to put like an empty black, blurred mask behind people cutout or extraction which gave an illusion of depth. The mask really helped make the subject not look like an obvious knockout. He went through the steps and I should heave written it down, but failed to do so and lost the techniques.
I have been experiementing with doing a female model with flowing hair, like you see on the better fashion mags, saving the sel in channels and doing my editing there. Then I have tried using channel copies and using layer masks and it's still not the trick or result the PS artist was doing.
how I might be able to pull this masking technique out of the hat?
how to go about making a frame or edging around and image such as the photo example.
This is what I was told to do, but cannot make head to tail from it:
Magic wand outside the picture. Select>Inverse. Stroke - set to 1 pixel and desired colour. New Layer Move Marquee box to desired position Stroke again Move 2nd layer to back
i have a client who has asked me to include her company logo, along with text, on a digital photograph which i then will have printed. writing text on a photo in photoshop is simple enough, but i don't know how to drop the logo (i've been sent two copies, jpg and tif) onto the photo.
I wanted to copy some text from open office into a new page in Photoshop cs3. I know you have to treat the text first, but how? I need to edit it in Photoshop.
I tried to use Acrobat and convert the text to a PDF, but the PDF couldn't be edited after I pasted it into a Photoshop page.
There's a way to do this in Illustrator, I think. but I couldn't find it. And maybe HTML would work.
I have Windows 7 with CS6 13.0.1 x64 installed on my D drive because my C drive is a 60Gb SSD. I have my cache set up to use the D drive. In my setup for cache, I have the D drive listed first and it is checked. Below that my C drive is listed and is NOT checked.
Every time I bring up Photoshop, it impolitely places a ~4Gb file (Photoshop Tempxxxxxxxxx) in C:. Now normally I wouldn't mind this, however the drive is only 60Gb and contains the Windows 7 OS. This doesn't leave room for much else.
How can I tell Photoshop to put this file on my D drive?
I am trying to figure out how to automate/make an action that will allow me to batch place an image onto numerous other images much like a watermark, but with only adjustment layers and their layer masks.
I created a shape with text in it to be used as a watermark and want to use it on different images, however, the images will have different sizes after they get cropped.
How can I position the watermark in the same place on all my images regardless of image size?.
I run Photoshop Cs6 and this has just recently began, after it has been working fine. After placing the image I would go to select my tool to edit the picture and it crashes.
I can place the photo just fine its always afterwards when I try to do something to it dose it crash, its like the smart object is protect it from editing as the moment I click on any thing even to merge visible it instantly crashes.
I am still able to open the pictures and edit them this way with no problems, its just after they are moved onto a different canvas dose the problem emerge. I run Windows 7 Home Premium
When I try to place a picture in photoshop CS6 either from drag&drop in the application window or from the place command, my image gets automatically resized based on the resolution (pixels per inch) of my document.
Example:
I create a new blank document, 1000*1000px @ 300ppi.I have another image that I want to place in the document and this image measures 500*500px @ 100ppi.I then go to File->Place and the image that appears is way too big. In the Info panel, it says that the image is 1500x1500 and the transform settings at the top indicate that the image hasen't been scaled because both width and height are at 100%.If I cahnge my document resolution (no resample) to 100ppi, the image has the right size when I place it.
Is this normal? Because it has never done that with past versions of Photoshop. If it is normal, is there a way I can change this because placing an image based on it's physical (printed) size makes absolutely no sense. 1 pixel = 1 pixel.
Figure 1 are my grunge brushes i want to be using. Figure 2 is showing that my grunge brushes are not showing up in the menubar. Whenever i download and place any new brushes in my brushes folder. Even after a restart they never show up in figure 2. So what keeps happening is all my brushes keep getting piled up in figure 1 and it makes it impossible to find the ones i need.. And evne if i click on load brushes they still end up in figure 1 and not in there own seperate section within figure 2. Photoshop keeps classing my brushes as one and keeps grouping them all up into an existing preset.
When I place an image it seams to always place it in black and whit. I have uninstalled and it is still doing the same. When I open the same image in a new doc its fine.
I need to place an image underneath skin and I was wondering how to do this effectively rather than just placing the image above the picture and blending the layers. The image is off a cartoon eye that will glow different colours and I am trying to blend it into an open palm. Kind of a mix between David Blaines eye tattoo, and the clocks from the film In Time
I recently placed text on an arc in Photoshop and found that it appears to stretch the text as well. I placed the same text on a circle in Illustrator and then placed it on top of the text in Photoshop. When the two lines of text were then made to have letters of the same height, the letters were not the same width (Photoshop letters were wider). Illustrator appears to maintain the aspect ratio of each letter when placing text on a curve while Photoshop does not.
Is this known to happen? Is there a way to place text on an arc in Photoshop that does not distort/deform the letters of the text in any way other than to place them on an arc?
