Photoshop :: Selecting Solid Colors With Eyedropper?

Oct 24, 2013

Where is the option to have the Eyedropper only select solid colors and not multiple colors when sampling colors? I select the Eyedropper tool and do not see any options for this in the control panel.

I only have options for Sample Size, which layers to sample from, and whether to show sampling ring.

Photoshop :: Why Eyedropper Targets Changing When Selecting Adjustment Layer

Apr 5, 2013

Consider this simple document with 2 layers and an adjustment layer:

Note the eyedropper targets. They read as expected:

Now, observe what happens when I click my adjustment layer (this is a new Levels adjustment that has NOT YET BEEN TOUCHED - so there should be NO CHANGE)

It doesn't matter whether the adjustment layer or its layer mask are selected, the results are the same. Here are my eyedropper settings:

Proof Colors is off. I can't think of any other setting to play with. This looks like a pretty huge bug to me, and it's not something I remember from earlier versions.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6 :: No Marquee When Selecting Area With Eyedropper?

Nov 30, 2012

when the eyedropper is selected, and the 'Select sample' button is pushed, no marquee is drawn when selecting the area to be sampled.Actually, it will often leave an XOR artefact at the beginning of the rectangle where the mouse is first clicked. (At WM_LBUTTONDOWN) this would be fixed in update #2 as I use this feature all the time, and having no marquee makes it very awkward to use.It should be an easy fix as marquees are drawn successfully when selecting a rectangular mask area and the Rectangle tool etc., and it seems sensible to me to call the same subroutine for all rubber rectangle actions.

Illustrator :: Eyedropper Selecting Outline Color Not Underneath Layer

Nov 30, 2013

What i do is use the direct selection tool and click an anchor and then click the eyedropper tool on that anchor point  What is happening is the the outline color is being selected. So i found out Illustrator CS6 you have to hold shift while clicking the eyedropper.  I tried that and still can't get the color of the underneath layer, the fill color stays white?  Here is pic:

As you can see in the navigator window, the shade of red is that of the outline and not the apple underneath the outline.  I tried shift+eyedropper and white is the only color that get's sampled.

When I try to get any color from a browser window (both safari and firefox) photoshop will shift the color slightly.

The background is a gradient mesh(ignore the crosses). I used eyedropper tool(shift-click/normal-click both gave the same result) on the background and it gave me a strange result. As you see the back ground is blue-to-black gradation but the color picked is green-ish from nowhere.

Photoshop :: Colors Not Selecting Right

Oct 4, 2004

I want to alter a simple image from one color to another. The image is a gif image and I want to change it to color code #EF8216. Should be simple enough but when I type that in it gives me a color close to that but not that color (even though it says it is #EF8216). I have used CatchColor to test this and PhotoShop CS is not selecting the right color. I have tried using different ways of selecting the same color but none work. I need the color to match with part of my web site which is using #EF8216. When I use the bucket and save it, you can tell the diffence very easily with the naked eye.

How can I get PhotoShop to select the color I want?

Photoshop :: Selecting Colors/Areas Of An Image...

May 19, 2008

I have a question about selecting sections of an image to copy or edit, and the best/easiest way to do it. I've been using the Pen to draw a line around the edge of the section(s) I want to edit, than tidy up the lines, convert it to a selection, and go from there. But this can often take a very long time.
if there was a better, faster and/or easier way to do this, or if using the Pen tool is probably the best way?

I'll use

this image
as an example (for lack of a better example image). Perhaps I want to take the dark blue area of the skirt, chest and feet and edit them to a different color (maybe I want to turn them red, for instance). Obviously the image has shading so not all of the colors are exactly the same, so the Magic Wand wouldn't help much.

To edit these sections, would using the Pen tool to drag a line around the edges and convert it to a selection be the best way, or is there another better way to do this?

It may be a stupid question, but I just thought I'd ask just in case there was a simpler way for me to go about editing my images.
And if it makes any difference, I have Photoshop CS2.

GIMP :: Selecting / Recoloring Only Certain Colors?

Jul 21, 2012

Using it to design minecraft textures. The textures are quite small, each block being 32x32 pixels and arranged in a 512x512 pixel sheet. Basically, I'm making a lot of small icons. Now, what I want to do is select an area, and change just some colors within it - like changing all greys for green or all reds for blue. I cannot find how to do this, apart from using the Wand to select the parts by themselves and change - it is possible, but veeery time-consuming (due to low resolution, every pixel that goes wrong will be noticed).

Illustrator :: Cannot Find New PMS Colors Pantone And Solid Coated Charts

Feb 11, 2014

The problem is when I try to find it in the PMS charts in Illi CS6 or PS CS6, those 336 new colors are not in my Pantone + Solid coated charts. I ran the adobe updates and it updated what it needed but I'm still unable to find it. Am I looking in the wrong chart? The name matches that of my PMS book so it just doesn't make sense. I scroll through the Illi chart and also try to use the "find" section.

I am having a problem with a delay in selecting an object and selecting a command.

When I select an object the pointer has at least a 3 second delay before it starts moving around normally again. It is the same with selecting a command. This has started to get tedious. It has worked fine in the past so I don't think it is a RAM/graphics card problem.

Photoshop :: Eyedropper

Dec 18, 2007

I'm in the IT department of a smallish company where a few people use Photoshop. A user is complaining that previously when using the eyedropper tool, she was able to click once and it would populate the foreground color and once to populate the background color. She says that she never had to hold down Alt or use X to swap the foreground and background.

Is this user just confused or is there some sort of setting that would allow one click with the eyedropper tool to populate foreground, then one click to populate the background?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Mouse Selecting / Not Selecting?

May 15, 2012

OK, today, or actually just this afternoon I've noticed it has become much harder to select items with the mouse.

Points, nodes, etc...anything where you'd typically hover the mouse over the item and it highlights for you to select it.

For example, lets say you want to project a point from another sketch, or select the center node of a line, etc.

Never really had an issue until this afternoon where now it seems I have to be right on top of the item and I cannot budge one bit or it won't select it. It is now taking me numerous attempts to select things like points (zooming in does not work, points scale accordingly).

Is there a setting somewhere? I can't seem to find such under Tools>Application Options and the like.

Photoshop :: Eyedropper Tool In CS5 - OS X 10.7.3

May 22, 2012

My eyedropper tool has suddenly gone awry. Selecting the eyedropper (or alt clicking the open window while on another tool) makes the colour selected the background colour and not the foreground as it always has done. Whereas and alt-click with the eyedropper selected makes the colour the foreground one.

Not a huge problem but one that's getting increasingly annoying as I try to work and keep painting the wrong colour.

Using OSX 10.7.3 and CS5.

Photoshop :: Using Eyedropper With Curves

Oct 17, 2013

When using Curves to increase contrast for an image, I see that some people will use the eyedropper to define an anchor point on the Curve to manipulate, and others just seem to drag on a spot on the curve without first using the eyedropper.

1. Is there a reason to not use the eyedropper, and instead just drag a point on the curve?

2. Won't using the eyedropper always be more accurate than just eyeballing a spot on the curve to drag?

Really annoying as it slows down my workflow when painting. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this, there doesn't seem to be anything in the prefs dealing with this. Also reinstalled ps a week ago which fixed it, but has now happened again!

When I am using the Brush tool in Color mode and I hit "option" to invoke the eyedropper it will crash as soon as I choose my source color.

Here is a link to the text in the crash report:

Photoshop :: How To Use Eyedropper To Select Color In A Layer

Aug 30, 2012

if I bring a photo in to Photoshop, at that point I have just a layer and the eyedropper will work just fine selecting which ever color I want from that image. However, if I then bring in and place a second image into photoshop, so that now I have two layers that I'm working on, the eyedropper will not select any color on that new image. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure it out. I just want to be able to select a color from that second layer image.
