saving transparent GIFs with Photoshop CS2. To save gifs I use the Save for the web command
If I place a solid background and select it as the trasparent color, the image background remains solid (no transparency shown)
If, on the other hand, I remove the background layer on Photoshop the image is transparent but looks jigsawed and the borders look very bad.
What's the correct procedure to create a transparent GIF?
I am working on a Mac (Snow Leapord) with Photoshop CS6. When I try to save a sliced and transparent PSD in the Save For Web dialog box with PNG-24, the transparency dissapears once exported. I have the transparency and interlaced boxes both checked. The images appear transparent in the Optimized Save for Web dialog box, but the transparency dissapears once exported out of Photoshop.
I never had a problem with this when I was using CS4...
I'm using photoshop 7. If I save for web and save as PNG and preserve transparency, it seems to be showing up on forums as transparent for some of the people, but I still see a white box behind my siggy on colored pages. I'm also seeing the white background on all of the buttons on the forum, and the creator of the forum saved them all as PNG and she sees no white. Does this have something to do with the version of IE I'm running (which I'm pretty sure is 6)?? I've asked several other windows users on the forum if they see the white background and they say no! I see it on all 3 of my computers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have photoshop7. I have designed a web page in photo shop. I am trying to send it to someone so that she can place it on her web page. I have for example some font that has, inner glow,bevel&emboss,and color overlay. How do I save it so that it looks the same on my photoshop page as it will on someone elses page. When I save it as a transparent gif it's coming out on her page with the correct colors but instead of having the emboss effect it looks like it's stroked in white. I have tried doing it few ways now but no luck. I'm sure I'm missing a step some where.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using Photoshop 7.0 for awhile now. I haven't upgraded to any other version yet because the original 7.0 actually has a certain bug in it that has been very useful. The bug has something to do with transparency, alpha channels, and TGA files. Somehow this bug lets me save transparent TGA files without creating an alpha channel. All I have to do is save the image as 32 bit and it will come out exactly how I made it. No white backgrounds, just smooth transparent edges. Its easy since I don't have to waste time manually painting a black/white map. I'm wondering if theres a way to do this in the newer versions, but after trying the demos it seems like there isn't. I don't know much about alpha channels, but I make dozens of TGA images with clear backgrounds so I really hope there is an easier way around this. To have to manually color the clear/solid areas with a paintbrush and lasso for each image seems like a nightmare. I wanted to get CS4 but I think it would be easier to just stick with this old version for this reason.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a logo that I want to layer on top of a background image that will together act as the header for the webpage.
The easy thing to do would be to create an image on photoshop layering the background image and the logo, with the logo blend effect, and then save and upload. Problem is that I want the background image to resize with the browser window - without resizing the logo.
Therefore, I figured I could save the background image and logo files separately, and then layer them using HTML and CSS. For it to look comparable therefore, I want to keep the background of the logo transparent. I would also like to set the blend mode of the logo to linear dodge (add) - so that whatever size the background image is scaled to, the logo remains the same size, with the same blend mode. The problem is that when I save the logo as a transparent png file (24-bit), it is not maintaining the blend mode.

Is it possible to save an extracted image as a JPEG file with transparent background? I would like to use the following image of a Christmas ornament without the white background.
Using Photoshop 7 and the magnetic lasso, I had no problem extracting the original image from a white background. I then open a new transparent canvas and copy the extracted image to this canvas. However when I choose to save as a JPEG image, I'm back with the white background. I see in the Matte menu I can choose other backgrounds, e.g. black, grey, etc.. But is there any way to save the extracted pixels without any background.
The reason I ask is that I want to use this extracted image in PrintShop, a card making program. I would like to be able to insert the image of the Christmas ornament without any background. Very often in creating a card you've already created a colored background. It would be nice to be able to insert the ornament without the rectangular white background.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm making a .Gif with transparent background. I've added an alpha channel on all layers and erased background I don't want to move in all layers except the last one. I've set it to combine the layers in the "Save As" pop-up, dithered the image (positioned,) and enabled dithering of transparent while converting to index. Looks fine in Gimp, but after I save it, the alpha layer saves as solid black instead of staying transparent to show the first layer's background. I would like to stay positioned indexed instead of automatically as it keeps the integrity of the image better. Is there a step I missed in keeping the layer's transparent after saving?

I've typed in the text in the color that I want. I've clicked on the magic wand, clicked on the white space and I get the checkered background. But it also covers my text and then when I try to use the saved image, it's all completely transparent.

i created a logo in adobe illustrator cc and i wanted to saved it for web in order to be able to copy and paste the logo where ever I wanted but the image looks extremely pixelated after saving as an png, and for web.
I need to strip my current image of its background color so that the background color on my website goes thru my image. In other words I need a transparent background for my image.
I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.
I have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHey, I'm having troubles with applying a gradient tool to a rectangular marquee in Photoshop CS3 for Mac OS X 5.8. Instead of getting a black color to fade into the background, I just get the black color.
And I'm click and dragging about 1.5 inches long. Sometimes I end up covering the entire picture with that color, not just the object (even though the object is selected). Gradient maps and layer masks don't seem to work.
I have an image with several layers. The background layer is transparent. When I merge the layers, the background becomes white. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or didn't do that prevented my background from staying transparent.

When I use this logo in documents it is totally transparent with only the circle showing. We are trying to put a gray tone over the existing area of the plan. what is weird is that I did the exact same thing to another view & it works perfectly with the region in the background & all the wals & doors showing up correctly. I can't figure out what is different between one view & another.
I've tried changing the filled region to be "moved to back" but nothing changes. if I override the graphics of the element & change it to be transparent the it goes away all together.

All looks good in Model Space but when I do a print preview from Paper Space the hatch appears to be completely solid in color again and has no transparency.
I tried searching the forums for "Transparent Grid" and "Transparent Hex", but I could not find anything.I would like to create an image which is a Transparent Grid or Hex which I could lay over other images, like maps for roleplaying games.
I tried to use the eraser tool to remove all the white space from the image "TransparentHexes.png" (see attached). It was long and labor intensive, but when I tried to copy the image and lay it over another image, it removed the transparent parts and made them white space again, completely covering the underlaying image.
Perhaps there is a way to use the "Paint Bucket" to replace white with transparent? And how do I lay a mostly transparent grid over another image?

I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
Is it possible to save a picture like this in formats like .jpg, .bmp or .gif ?
If i try to save this picture, the transparent turns white.
suppose to be a transparent gif - and it is working on FIrefox and Opera - however, on my machines, IE is showing a dark blue background for some reason...the transparency is not working...
I know that IE has issues with .png files and transparency.
