Photoshop :: Sampling Color From Outside Interface

Oct 28, 2012

Everything is in the title,

When I select the eydropper and I drag it outside Photoshop to sample a color of an image (in another window) everything seem to "move" in photoshop until I reach that image. When I say move it's the view that's moving not the layers etc.

How to make photoshop "view" stand still while i'm dragging the eyedropper out ?

Photoshop :: Smart Object Sampling Technique?

However, I ran into the following scenario:We have a big PS file full of pixel art & photographs, some of both are smart objects. We'd like to resize a bunch of them, but need bicubic for some, nearest-neighbor for others.

Is there any way to set sampling techniques for each smart object?(If not, where does one post feature requests? ;D)

Photoshop :: Eyedropper Current Layer Sampling

Apr 17, 2012

Using the "current layer" sampling setting for the eye dropper before I apply any top layer adjustments (adding a top layer with a different blending more or adding an adjustment layer) it works fine. When I use any adjustment layers or any layer that has a blending mode, it affects the way the eyedropper picks color especially when set to current layer.

For instance, If I paint a new blank layer with random colors, I create a black and white adjustment layer on top of that one, I select the first color layer I go to pick a color using the eye dropper with the current layer sampling set, it picks a grey color (which is wrong). BUT!! if I open up the color picker with the color layer selected it picks the correct color. Now, if I delete the black and white adjustment layer, and I am back to only having the color layer, I then go to pick a color with current layer sampling still set, it chooses a grey color again?!?! There are no more layers on top of the original color layer I painted first, and yet it chooses a grey color?

I am working on Photoshop CS5 12.1 64bit

Photoshop :: Sampling Color While Using Paint Tool

Oct 13, 2013

The other day, Photoshops started acting a little funny. Specifically, when using the paint tool, I'll hit option (alt) to sample a color to the foreground but it is sampling to the background instead. I have tried to reset all tools and no dice. How i can reverse this? it is screwing up my whole blending procress.

Photoshop :: Clone Stamp - Sampling Location

Jul 9, 2013

One of my computers is having an issue with the clone stamp.  When using the clone tool, sampling a location creates a copy of the layer you are working on that moves with the cursor.  Restarting PS or rebooting the machine does not work.  Its a Mac running os 10.7.5 and CS6.

Photoshop :: Sampling Color Using (Option) Key While Brush Tool Is Selected (CS6)

Sep 17, 2012

I am used to "Option" clicking on a color, while using the Brush tool, to set the foreground color. In CS6, it is updating the background color instead, even though the "Info" panel clearly says "Click to choose new foreground color" when I hold down the Option key. What setting am I missing?

The foreground color is the active color in the color swatches.Manually selecting the Eyedropper tool and option-clicking, updates the foreground color. Simply clicking, updates the background color.

The 3ds max help says "Unified Sampling mode is easy to control and renders much more quickly than the multi-pass sampling used in previous versions of 3ds Max" How can i test this against my previous settings. As an example, my final renders are normal 1-64 with 0.05 as the spatial contrast, how would I be able to test against this setting in unified sampling mode?

Lightroom :: Down - Sampling During Export?

Apr 24, 2013

I use Lightroom to manage a digital archive of historic photos at our county library. The images are scanned as TIFs at 600 ppi at the original size; images <3.5 scanned at higher res. Those are the masters to which I add metadata. These images all have a long dimension of somewhere between 2500 and 3000+ ppi but they are not consistent in size.

Now I want to export a set of JPG files that are the same  physical size as the original, but a resolution of 300 ppi.

The way I did it before LR was to run a batch action in PS Image Size where I changed the resolution to 300, checked Resample Image and let it go.

I've tried a lot of different combinations in the LR export panel; changing the quality reduces the file size but it still shows the same number of pixels and the physical dimensions that it will default to is twice the size of the original. So I 'm interpreting that as it compressed the file more, but it didn't actually downsample and throw away pixels.

The only other way I'm seeing to do this is to select images of similar size and then telling it to Resize to Fit with a specific dimension at 300 dpi and "don't enlarge" checked. Or, continue using the Photoshop batch action.

[I also create a 1-inch JPG that we use for online display and an index book so LR will work fine for that. But our patrons often want a jpg copy of particular files and, unless they ask for the higher resolution version, we give them the JPGs at 300 dpi original size.]

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Bands - Multiple Surfaces Sampling From One Design Profile?

Jun 26, 2013

I have 2 different surfaces (Existing Ground & Proposed Pipe Invert) that I want to have the elevations shown for in a profile data band, but I want them to show at the design profile's PVIs (Proposed Road).  Is it possible to set up a data band style that samples at one profile's geometry points but displays the elevations from these points from a different profile?  My workaround is to set the data bands to all sample from the design profile first and label over the design profile's data band but I'm hoping for a cleaner solution.  Attached is an image showing the profile view in question.

Photoshop :: CS5 Paint Bucket Colors Do Not Match Selected Color Picker Colors

Jun 28, 2012

I recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine. All licences were validated so no problems there. Now when using paint bucket in Photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.

If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket. But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into Photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.

Photoshop :: Colors In Print Preview Not Matching Colors In Soft Proofing

Jul 7, 2013

Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.

I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. See attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Default Fill And Outline Colors Automatically Set To Last Colors Used

CDX5: Whatever color I select for fill or outline is now set as the default color for fills and outlines without expressly setting it as such. Until now when I left or right click a color with nothing selected it allowed me to set it as a default fill or outline color for graphics, artistic text, or paragraph text. It does not do that now.

Is this a "feature" that's been added that I somehow enabled? In any event, how do I turn it off?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Change Layer Colors To New Set Of Colors?

May 8, 2012

We are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.

Example:

Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.

I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Colors 1-9 Appear As White - Colors 10-22 Are Wrong?

Dec 7, 2013

You can see in the attached screen cap that colors 1-9 appear as white on my screen and that colors 10-22 are not correct either. This is only occuring in one specific drawing.  Is there a preference that I switched somewhere that would make this happen? I have double checked that everything is ByLayer or ByColor that I can think of. If I insert this color chart into other drawings it looks fine. using C3D 2012.

I would just restart my drawing, however it is the new company template file that I have invested many hours into and would really like to be able to keep working with it and not start over.  Or is there a good way to import and overwrite all the Prospector settings into a blank drawing?

Photoshop :: Colors In PS Seem To Be Better Than In BMP?

Jun 5, 2006

I'm working on a design for a web. It's quite colorful with bright colors. In Photoshop it looks exactly the way I want it to look, but when I export it as JPG, PNG or even BMP then the colors seem to be a bit lesser bright... they don't look that lively anymore.

What could be the problem? I understand that PNG and JPG may have some restrictions, but at least BMP should be able to reflect every pixel the way it is shown in Photoshop, isn't it?

Photoshop :: Colors Look Different

Jul 28, 2009

When I open a picture in Photoshop CS3 or Camera RAW for editing and then save that picture, and then open the saved picture in any program other than Photoshop, the colors and tints and saturation are very different. I am pretty sure this has to do with my color profile in Photoshop, but I've checked many online sources and my color settings seem to match up more or less with what's recommended. My camera is set to sRGB and Photoshop is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, and this is happening both with JPEGs and RAWs, from two different Canon cameras. Pictures look more natural when viewed in Photoshop than in other programs (I think), even before any editing...how could this be? The weird things is, when I go to Edit > Assign Profile and then select "Lighthouse (D65 G2.2 A34.29)" from the drop-down menu, the image in Photoshop now looks exactly like it does when I open the same image in an image viewing program. What does this mean? Also, when viewing my photos in Bridge CS3, the colors look like they do in Photoshop until I zoom in 100% and the photo finishes loading the actual pixels, at which point the colors dramatically change. How can I edit pictures in Photoshop and Camera RAW when what I'm editing is not what's actually seen?
