Photoshop :: Ring Effect
Apr 14, 2006I am trying to create a ring like the one below. This one is scanned from a business card and is not very clean. I want to make a high resolution image that I can wrap around a sphere using about the same angle.
I have played around with the Ellipse tool and then tried to skew or distort the image, but I am having the most trouble with the two places the ring is broken and comes to a point.

Oct 23, 2008I am trying to create this shape, but have it so it is scalable for a logo image. I have tried making various ellipses and putting them on top of each other, then skewing them and going back to trim out the "tails" of the rings. It never seems to come out clean, and the top edges of the rings always seem square rather than rounded.
Does anyone know of a better approach to this. I apologize if there is already a tutorial or thread on this, I searched, but didnt find anything on my own. I would be using it for both print and web.

Mar 28, 2003At tut "Multi-Layered Ring effect", step 4 we find this paragraph:
"Rename this channel to bevel. Once you have renamed the channel to bevel go to Filter/Blur/Guassian Blur and choose a value of 8. Then Guassian Blur it again with a value of 5, and one more time with a value of 1."
Why can't we put a bigger value to the gaussian blur effect, instead of repeating it three times with differents values? If i put 14 for the Gaussian value once, isn't it return with the same effect?

Mar 26, 2003i'm learning the tut "Creating a Multi-Layered Ring effect", then when i've got at step "5", i had some problem, it tells us to "ctrl click" layer alpha1 at channels window, then go back to layer window and keep selected ring1 layer, but it doesnt work, cause i can't keep both layers selected, when i go to the apply lightning effects and change all the values to those mentioned at the tut, all i have back is a dark image, nothing alike to that one at the tut.

Sep 19, 2013I have binded an alignment drawing into another drawing. I am still able to use the alignments for calculations however they do not show up in toolspace. What is the reason for this? Can i export the alignments and import them without having issues now?

Sep 28, 2006I have a picture of the erath, (globe). I am wanting to make a ring like staurn, so when you look at the globe, the ring will follow a curve, go around the back of the globe and then come out around the other side and join up. Basically as you see in a picture of planet Saturn.
how do i build this effect. I have tried the warp and transform tool, fine but getting the efffect that the ring goes around the back, comes out the other side is proving some what difficult.
how do I make the ring hide around the back of the globe??? I also have tried different layer and moving them about.

Dec 29, 2011i need to send a drawing out to a clent of our's. it has a XREF with it . so here what i do. open drawing, purge it, go to xref manger highlite the referrence, right click, hit bind, Bind Xref/DGN underlay window comes up check bind hit ok it go thur it stuff. the xref disapear from the drawing but it still shows in the xref manger with a coment on the command line that say : Error : at least one of the specified xref failed to bind for an unknown reason.

Jun 1, 2012I'm having tons of trouble with the hair system for a character I've made. One that I'm very stumped on is for the rigging. I have a skull cap with hair on it and then the character separate. I have created a skeleton with which I want to smooth bind to the skin. While the smooth bind seems to be working, I'm having issues with the hair not following the global skeleton when I move it. The character herself moves, but her hair stays put and I don't know where to go from here to make her hair follow. I have tried combining the skull cap and character. I have tried grouping the skull cap and character. I have tried just about everything, but the hair will not follow. The most I could do was make the follicles and skull cap move, but not the hair. Any way to get the hair constraints to move along with the hair system after it has been binded, that would be great too as I have used hair constraints to form her hairstyle.
