Photoshop :: Resizing Rasterized Text
Sep 30, 2005
I'm fairly new to PS and I wonder if someone could explain this behavior:
I started out with black vector text and a logo in Illustrator. I rasterized it and saved it as an EPS. I opened the EPS in PS 7, specifying dpi of 600 with anti-alias checked. (I'm not quite sure why it then rasterized a file that was already rasterized, but that's another question).
On my screen, it looks great! I zoomed in close and the edges are nice and smooth. However, when I try to resize it to be smaller so I can use it on the web, it falls apart. The edges become very jagged and when I do Save to Web and put it on a web page, it is very fuzzy.
I've resized color images before for the web without this fuzziness. Am I getting this effect because it is black and white? I thought trying to resize it to be a bigger image results in poorer quality, not resizing it to be smaller.
Is there some technique I'm missing?

I have white text on a yellow background...I need to change the background to white and the text to green. The rasterized text is part of the yellow background (ie it's not a seperate layer). Any attempt to change the colour or select the text invariably doesn't catch all the aliased pixels....with my resulting text not looking as smooth as the original.

I have a set of images of complex text that has already been rasterized into pixels. My client would like the images transformed with a different background color and different foreground (text) color.
Just replacing the 2 colors of course does not preserve the antialiasing which provides the smoothness. And when I try hand-editing the aliased pixels it takes forever and always looks pretty bad.
Ideally there would be a way to transform the color schema globally so that the 2 foreground and background colors are changed as directed, and all "intermediate" antialias pixels adjust "accordingly". Does such a transformation exist -- can you specify a color transformation that adjusts 2 colors at once?
Or is there a more painstaking process of masks and such? I've tried several versions with masks, selects, feathering etc. but haven't found anything yet that gives professional antialias quality to the final recolored result.

I have applied a 3D>Extrude and Bevel on my text. Now problem is that when doing it, my border(part that is extruded) causes a color banding, since it rasterizes the gradients. See my image below.
How do I take away those nasty lines?

I'm trying to finally utilize iLogic and all of its functionality (after using the basic features of inventor for the past 3 or so years) and I was wondering if there was a way to use iLogic (or some other feature for inventor) to resize text in a title block field of an IDW based on the length of the text entered (i.e. if the part's name was "Cam Retainer" the text height would be .12, but if its part name was "Spacer Cam Retainer Bushing" the text height would shrink down to .085 or something) so that it would still fit nicely into the text block?

For years I was using an older version of PS. I am new to CS6 Photoshop. I cannot figure out how to resize a text box. When I chose the box with the text tool, the borders of the box do not show up. To see the border I must hold down the option + command keys. I cannot change the size of the box without scaling the type.
Also, when I click the box with the move tool, I cannot see the border of the text box. I cannot even copy the text box.

My character box says my font is size 12 but when I try to place it on my icon it almost fills it at 100x100.
When I try the same on a different pic, it comes out the right size.
This is happening on photoshop and jpg files. As far as I'm aware all settings are the same. I tried reseting the text tool, but it's still the same. This only happens on some files. Is there a option i've ticked by mistake? I've had PS a few monts but not had this before.

My experience with Photoshop is self-taught. I use Photoshop 7 and am currently using a trial version of Photoshop Elements 12. I found an image of a rounded corner rectangle. I changed the background color to a shade of red (R102 B8 G0), and then created the word BLOG in white. The original image size is 487 x 487 pixels and looks great. When I resize the image to the icon size I want (30 x 30 pixels or 25 x 25 pixels), the red background color bleeds through parts of the text and just doesn’t look as good. What do I need to do to resolve?

I am a molecular biologist trying to use either photoshop or illustrator to label data (I have both programs, 1 may be better than the other for what I need, but I am not sure). The data I want to label are essentially pictures, of varying size, with a resolution of 50pixel/cm (around 127ppi).
The best analogy of the transformations of my data would be a picture of some random object taken next to a ruler. I need to label the ruler, then remove the actual ruler and just leave the labels. I have several of these pictures, and I label them like this individually.

After opening pdf in photoshop CS6 (win 7 64 bit) there are thin (1 px) horizontal and vertical lines. Pdf was created by distiler from PostScript from InDesign (InDesign -> PostScript -> Distiller -> pdf). Same pdf rasterized in photoshop CS4 does not produce this lines. Is this a bug?

When I open my eps filel, which is a business card created by an outside designer, I get a checkered card and I am unable to see anything (it says rasterized generic eps format). I can open other documents, but not this one.
What can I do to see it correctly? If I hit cancel, the screen goes blank and no card shows; if I say okay, it shows checkered.

I am using Photoshop CS6
I'm in the process of preparing vector graphics for an After Effects motion graphics project. I decided to use the new vector features in CS6 because I am more friendly with the PS interface than I am with Illustrator.
I've created several vector shape layers that now, after some work, now look like rasterized graphics. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I am sure I have not rasterized them myself.
Also, when I import the graphics into After Effects, it gives me no option to collapse transformations or continuously rasterize the layers.
Have I done something to rasterize the shape objects in Photoshop? New shape objects I create are vector. Do I need to start over?

I need to be able to re-size images that are large than 1MB in order to put them on our MLS site.
My previous computer had 2 arrow icons on the desktop.
One was for re-sizing horizontal pics and the other for re-sizing vertical pics.
I could simply drag/drop the image file onto these re-sizing icons and they would be re-sized.
The smaller file size thumbnail would appear on the desktop.
How can I get these re-sizing tools on my new computer's desktop?
I am using CS6.

Placing an bitmapped .eps file from Photoshop, sometimes the file comes in at the dpi it was saved at, (say, 1.25 inches wide and 1200 dpi) and sometimes at 72 dpi (and a couple of feet wide).
Is there something the creator of the .eps file has set in photoshop that is causing Illustrator to interpret the incomoing dpi?
I realize a 1.25 inch 1200 dpi file has the same information as a 26+ inch 72 dpi file, but it causes an extra key stroke (a recorded action to resize the placed file). Not all the time, just some times.
I open the customer's .eps file in Illustrator and it opens at 72dpi/26 inches.
I open the customer's .eps file in photosohp, hit "save" and open it in Illustrator at 1200dpi./1.25 inches.

When resizing paragraph text, the default is that the shape size changes, but the text properties stay the same, so if it was a 12 pt before, it will be a 12 pt after.
IF you hold ALT while resizing, it will reduce the size of the text and move tabs so that it gives the same appearence as before. This is great. A 12 pt might be reduced to an 8 or 6 pt or less.
BUT if you select the paragraph text with a bitmap OR an Object that completely overlaps it. Holding alt looses the ability to maintain perspective and proper proportions.
I can reproduce on video if you need me to.

Regarding Gimp version 2.8.2, I'm posting text to a picture, the trouble is when I highlight and try to resize the text it disappears. The text layer is still on top and the eye is still visable, so the text should be visable.. I have tried different fonts and colors and sizes with no success, things I can check to make this work again?
I did just reinstall this version today ( a couple of times ) and that is when the trouble started.

I have some groups of objects (artistic text, polylines etc.) in CorelDraw X5 and want to resize them.
Resizing the groups reduces/enlarges the font size of the artistic text accordingly. However, is there an option of resizing the groups while keeping the font size the same? In the ideal case I'd like the text to appear where it should in the resized figure but at the same font size.

So occasionally, when working on customers files, outlined text becomes warped when resizing or using Pathfinder. For instance, I have "III" written and outlined, but for some reason if I resize this, the middle line become thicker than the other lines. Other text changes as well making it very hard to make the necessary changes to my artwork without ruining the text.

I was wondering if there was a graceful way to change a thick stroke or outline in PS CS6? Normally I would be lazy and just use the paint bucket tool, but since this is for a higher profile client than I am used to, and it is a for print project (I normally do web projects) the quality is just not good enough. The lines I want to change are the yellow outlines of the yellow hand in the following logo:
Currently, the best approach I can think of is going back into AI and changing the outlines and strokes there, however that is going to be a lot of work because of the way in which different objects overlay each other means a lot of slicing, cutting, and moving things around. Is there an easier way to do this in PS?
