Illustrator :: How To Change Colors Of Different Shapes At Same Time In Assign Tab

Sep 30, 2012

Under the edit tab I can click on the link option and change the colors together at the same time, though this does not work when on the Assign tab.

1. Is there a way to get it to change the colors of different shapes at the same time in the Assign tab?

2. The blue circle in the color wheel is clearly changing the hue of the blue, though with the other two arms, the circle with the black ring around it, when I drag it to darker hues it changes both the star and the polygon while the other circle only changes hues sometimes if I drag it somewhere completely different. How does this process work?.

Photoshop :: Gradients And Custom Shapes

May 14, 2009

I'm using CS4 and trying to follow any number of tutorials and I get completely stumped every time at this point.

I'm asked to create a rectangle the size of my canvas and fill it. Fine. Then create a rounded rectangle overtop of it. Fine. Then I'm to go into blending options and Gradient Overlay. Fine. This is where I'm stumped.

They show the "gradient editor". I cannot find this for the life of me. Adobe CS4 docs state there should be a gradient preview in the info panel. There isn't because I'm not using the gradient tool.

Photoshop :: Vector Gradients In Layer Masks - How

Jan 28, 2013

if it's possible to add a GRADIENT vector mask to a vector shape layer?

I have a logo made up of various vector layers, and I need one of them to fade to transparency. I traditionally use a regular "black-to-transparent" gradient on the mask for this, but it's pixel-based. So my question is, with regards to the black-to-transparent gradient located in the mask of a vector layer... is there any way to make this gradient vector-based instead of pixel-based?

So I can resize the logo at will without affecting the quality of the gradient in the single layer mask.All the vector mask tutorials I found are for shapes (regular and irregular) but don't seem to involve gradient-based transparency <- which is what I need.

Illustrator :: Using Gradients On 3D Revolve Shapes

Dec 30, 2013

I am new to Illustrator and am trying to create a 3D dish that looks silver on one side and gold on the other. Is there a way I can do this? If I want to add further shapes to the top of this dish is it better to add these before applying the 3D effect? If so is it possible to apply the gradients to only part of the shape?

Alternatively would it be possible to use the gradient mesh in concave shape. The default mesh is convex. Is there an easy way to change this to concave?

Photoshop :: Gradients With Only Selected Swatch Colors?

Is this possible? If not is there a workaround?

Photoshop :: 16bit/65000 Colors = No Smooth Gradients ?

Feb 8, 2007

I'm currently working on a User Interface for a Wall Panel, but this Wall Panel has only 16bit (65.000) colors, i've tried a lot of different things but can't find a way to get smooth gradients, my images always have gradient banding.

I was wondering if there is a way to tell photoshop to work in 16bit mode ? (not 16bit by channel) so that the colors selected for the gradients would always be contained in the 65.000 available colors.

For the moment, the only way to get a 16bit image is when saving a file as a bitmap and selecting 16bit. But everytime i do this, gradient banding immediatly appear. Maybe photoshop bitmap encoder is just not that good for 16 bit mode bitmaps .

Xara :: File Exported To PDF But Transparent Gradients Showed As Solid Shapes

Sep 18, 2013

I have been working with Xara for two days now, and it's great! I am using the trial version of Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9. I created a file with a couple of transparent shapes (love the transparency tool - so easy!), and it looked great. I exported to .pdf, and the transparent gradient was all gone. The shapes are there, but have no gradient whatsoever.

I also exported it as a .jpg and the gradients are present in the .jpg. In other words, the .xar file looks great and the .jpg looks great. Just the .pdf doesn't work.

Illustrator :: Mesh Gradients Using Pantone Colors

Mar 18, 2013

I'm struggling to create gradients for screen printing purposes. The artwork will be printed on 12oz canvas using 3-4 pantone spot colors.

1) if I fill an object with a single Pantone color, create a mesh gradient from it using a variety of different opacity settings, say 100%, 50% and 25%, then play around with the mesh handles to produce a pleasant, mixed background, will a gradient of this type work for screen printing? I don't know if a gradient of this type will require halftones, as a linear or radial gradient would.

2) it's my understanding that when you prepare artwork for screen printing using spot colors, each color should be on its own layer. In an attempt to add highlights or shadows to an object, if I copy an object and paste it in front of itself, then apply a gradient using another Pantone spot color, say Pantone Process Black(100% to 0% opacity), does it matter what the blending mode is? Obviously you'll get different results based on the option you choose, but again, I'm concerned here only with screen printing. I can then place the gradient on the Black layer.

The problem is that I'm familiar with off-set printing, and apparently gradients have to be converted into halftones when screen printing, so I'm trying to figure out the best way of creating shadows and highlights.

Photoshop :: Combining Vector Shapes

Oct 16, 2012

Vector shapes, very cool! However, when I create the first shape, then choose a different shape, select Subtract Front, and create, it works fine—reverses out the fill, no problem. But if I have to redo the shape, still making sure Subtract Shape is selected, the second time, it doesn't reverse out. I've tried everything I can think of to inverse it... No luck! The only way I can get it to work on a redo, is by relaunching PS and deleting my settings. What am I missing?

Photoshop :: Vector Shapes Rasterized?

Aug 24, 2012

I am using Photoshop CS6

I'm in the process of preparing vector graphics for an After Effects motion graphics project. I decided to use the new vector features in CS6 because I am more friendly with the PS interface than I am with Illustrator.

I've created several vector shape layers that now, after some work, now look like rasterized graphics. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I am sure I have not rasterized them myself.

Also, when I import the graphics into After Effects, it gives me no option to collapse transformations or continuously rasterize the layers.

Have I done something to rasterize the shape objects in Photoshop? New shape objects I create are vector. Do I need to start over?

Photoshop :: Random Shapes Appear When Using Vector Mask

Feb 7, 2013

For several months I have had random shapes appear in my files when using vector masks. The scrambled imagery only appears at random and at certain zooms (over 25%) and will disappear upon restart of Photoshop. If I flatten the file, it will retain the scrambled imagery, but otherwise it seems to not actually corrupt the data, just the view on screen. I've been fighting this for months and have replaced drives, video cards, and it still persists.

The import is far to unwieldy as I can't even browse my library of eps files...

Is there a quick way to close them without removing the last anchor point and then connecting the 2nd last point with the first one?

I used to be able to copy a shape in Illustrator, paste it in Photoshop, and then duplicate the shape layer, removing what I wanted from each layer.

Now that doesn't seem to work, and what's worse, strokes are all messed up - if I apply a stroke to the whole layer, it isn't all visible. If I delete parts of the layer that are unwanted, certain pieces remain invisible, even if I apply a stroke (and fill, for that matter).
