I have 24 layers in my current design and am almost finished. But 15 min. ago I did hear that they changed the size, it was vertical to large and I have to cut out a piece.
Is it posible that I remove a piece somewhere in all layers and keep the drawing, created with the rec-tools and others, correct on their layers? Most of them are already rasterized.
I order not to hide components, i want to make a break sketch and remove a piece from a part from an assembly in the isometric view in a drawing. can i do that?

Is there any way on earth to switch back to the standard modal type window for Adjustment Layers? Forcing us to use them in a Palette window makes me want to go get a root canal. I've had CS5 for over a year and simply cannot use it due to this and some other issues.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor some time now i experience a really strange problem with my layer masks: the parts of a layer I hide with a black layer mask are still slightly visible in my picture - like these pixels still have an opacity of about 5%. The colour in the mask is definitly black and not dark grey (this was my first guess what could be wrong). I have no idea when this problem started, but I believe it was not there when I started to use CS6 (which I still do and on which the problem appears).

The aim is to list all block attributes if the 'blockName' exists in drawing and return True afterwards. Oppositely it should return me False and print nothing to Editor if blockName does not exist.
How to remove a portion from this part. I need the beige colored "lump" removed and it needs to be smooth with the other suffaces.
I can copy the surfaces and then do a patch, but the new surface does not look right. It has a buldge in it.
Also tried "Delete face" which I use all the time, but it does not work here.

I sell clothing online, and I'm looking for the best way to quickly remove the price from an image of the retail tag. Everything I've tried seems to be tedious, so I don't think I've got the right tool so far. I just want to be able to do what was called a "Smart Erase" in my old Digital Image Pro program -- I simply drew a quick outline around the area to be erased, and then clicked on the erase button, and the price was gone off the tag (it inserted the same background area there).
is there a method to project the sketch onto the part so that i can then remove 2mm of that shape from the part....?

I've just started learning AutoCAD and came across my first obstacle I don't know how to work around. Here's what I'm trying to do.
I draw two lines and two circles and then trim the excessive parts as in the picture (in general it can be an area composed of various types of lines, straight lines, arc, and likely with rounded corners).
Then extrude to the height 2. This makes 4 surfaces (green). Now I build a solid 'around' the surfaces. In this example I draw a rectangle and extrude to the height 1 (red). And my question is: how do I remove the part of the solid that's enclosed within the green surfaces? Subtraction doesn't work as I don't subtract solid. Slicing doesn't work either as it's more than one surfaces. For the same reason I can't turn it into a solid.

I have a jpeg with a white background and solid colored clipart image. I need to remove the colored part of the jpeg image with magic wand in illustrator cs6 and make it a vector image. The magic wand doesn't seem to do anything in illustrator. I did it in Photoshop and saved it as a PNG with trnsprnt background opened it up in illustrator and it was all jagged. It is such a simple image, only two colors, blue on white.

I replaced a part in an assembly with a new part number, it shows the new part number in the browser. but when I switched from model view to Vault view, the old part number still shows there. I checked in and checked out the model assembly file, it did not work to remove the old part number from vault view. I also checked the BOM, the old part number is not in the BOM.
How can I remove the old part number from vault view? will it cause problem in the exporting BOM text file?

I have a drawing with a bunch of layers that cannot be deleted since they are nested in block definitions. However, the blocks are not in use and cannot be purged. I think it is because they are referenced for point styles, that are also not in use. Is there a way to delete the point style in order to clear these layers and blocks?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a Gimp newbie, using 2.8.4. I have a png image that's 530 pixels wide. I'm trying to merge it with a white background layer that is 960 pixels wide. I need to align the image to the right side of the background layer. This is what I did:
- opened my image
- created background layer (960 px wide)
- made background layer the bottom layer
- clicked on Alignment tool
- clicked the hand cursor on the image (530 px wide)
- made the background layer the active layer
- set "Relative to:" Active layer
- clicked on the right alignment arrow
The image did move to where I wanted it, but most of the image from the right edge disappeared, so all I've got is a small portion of the left side of the image in the middle of my background layer. Then I did the following:
- merged visible layers with Expand as necessary
That action merged the layers, but all I have is a small part of my image near the center of the background.

I have an assembly in which the thickness of each of the layers in an assembly are generated from a part file that is split via a sketch. I use the Make Components tool to break the part into the individual layers, which also spits out an assembly.
Is there a way to push the thickness value of these parts that will update automatically if the thickness is changed in the parent part, in order to reference this property on the drawing?
I was just wondering as to whether its possible to keep the checkered base which you get when you remove part of an image or have it transparent to stay in the created image.
I am sure you all know this.

View 6 Replies View Related I set up our company log which gets embossed on most parts as a sketch block in an .ipt. The .ipt contains nothing but the sketch block. To use it, the designer only needs to derive the Logo.ipt file into their part and then use the scale setting to set the derived block to the desired size for that part. The result is a scalable set of line geometry that can easily be used for extrusion or emboss that is standard for all users. It works beautifully, that is until you try to use it in a sheet metal part in 2012.
For some reason, when this same part, which works perfectly in normal parts, is derived into a sheet metal part an error pops up stating that, "Selected part does not have any geometry that can be derived." Say what?
I was able to find a workaround by directly copying the block into the sheet metal part, but you no longer have the ability to go back and scale it if needed. Even more strange, when the block was copied over, it could not be deleted from the new part.
Is this just a bug with 2012? Why does it work in a normal part but not sheet metal?

I would like to simplify this assembly into one seamless part for FEM calculation:The assembly consists out of parts that, in reality, will be welded together. Due to their form, there is no way to place them exactly onto each other, therefore there are slight gaps between the parts:
Now when I try to merge the assembly into one part via "simplify" --> "create simplified part" and choose "single solid body with seams between planar faces merged", Inventor does not fill these gaps (even though it displays only one part in the bottom right corner of my window). Unfortunately, the remaining gaps brings "contact" problems in the FEM simulation.

I have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.
I have an assembly with 10 parts in it. We use many assembly features at the assembly level (Revolve cut, Extrusion cut..etc). How to find the mass difference of each part by comparing at its parts level and its assembly level.
