I have cropped a person from a photo and moved the image into another photo. I now want to increase the size of the "person" I moved while keeping the background the same. I'm sure it's a simple procedure but after a couple of hours of frustration.

I'm trying to use the quick selection tool to take part of an image out and combine it with another but when i click to make the first selection a "Could not use the Quick Selection because the result would be too big." message shows up. I havent even made a selection so how would it determine if it's too big? I just don't get it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an artwork that eventually be used for laser cutting. The artwork was created by Illustrator. I would like to identify very small cuts so I can eliminate them. My thinking is that it will be easier to do the analysis after rasterizing the artwork and use Photoshop for the job.I was thinking to select by color the color that marks holes (white). This will yield a selection of multiple regions (clusters). Now I would like to filter out (or in) all the clusters that meet some size criteria (contains less than X number of pixels, or that the perimeter size is more or less a value) in order to identify the small clusters.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am making selections of models off of a white background. I use the quick select tool and refine to make a clean selection. I go in and use the clone tool to remove the "halo" that is still there to make a super clean selection with no light bleed on the model. I put a black layer underneath to make sure that I got all of the remnants. I save the selection and turn it into a channel. I apply the layer mask and everything looks good. I flatten the image and put it on a white background (this is the desired form of delivery for client) Image saved and closed. When reopened, I make a selection using the channel and there is a distinct halo effect still present. I have tried making the selection and going over it a couple times with the brush at 100% and it works a little bit, but not entirely. I have already spent a lot of time going through cloning things out so it looks good, delivering the images, then they are sent back because of the halo.

Anyway, my first inquiry here is a simple one having to do with selection. When I used PS I would at times use the wand selector and then open a new file which already had the dimensions of the selection. Thing is, when I select something in Gimp and open up the new file it still has the same size as the main image from which an area was selected, i.e., if the main image was 500x500 and I selected something 100x100 the copy was still 500x500.
And I can assure you it has nothing to do with remote viewing and foreign embassies.
So heres a feature request i've not seen mentioned before: So ive made a selection, and this is at the bottom bar thingy What if i could click on the numbers and type my own dimension in?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a need to repeatedly 'copy' an area of a certain size (say X by Y) from a number of images.
I can set the size, by eye, using the rectangular selection tool and then simply move that to each area on the image I wish to copy - no problem.
But I want to do the same size from a number of different images (and will be doing this over a number of different sessions/days etc.)
I have to use the Image > Canvas Size option to resize the size of my canvas to a wanted size. However this means a lot of trial and error to get the canvas size the same size of my current selection. Is there a quick function that would resize the canvas size to my current selection?
View 2 Replies View RelatedPreviously, every time I selected an object (line, shape, text...etc) the program gave me an option to rotate or change the size of the object by creating a square with four points around the selection. I could then click and drag a corner of my selection thus rotating it and/or changing it's size.
Now, for some reason, this feature has been disabled and the only way I can manipulate the object is by physically typing in a new percentage for it's size or by going to the Object>Transform Menu. Did I accidentally hit a key command that disables this feature?
I have two pictures and I try to copy a small part of one picture to the other.I did a rectangular selection of 2 cm square of the first picture and copied it but when I pasted it in the other picture the selection was now 4.68 cm square.
I suspect that's because the two pictures have not the same resolution. How can I keep the size of the selection from two pictures of different resolution?
Is there a way to create a fixed size selection rectangle that I can use whenever I want to take a selection from a larger image? Currently, I'm am doing this by trial and error and it's not fun.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I am in page setup manager and want to use the "Adobe PDF" plotter device, I can't set a paper size other than the standard one like letter, legal, 11x17 ect. I need to have the "Adope PDF" plotter to print a Arch D size paper but that selection dosent even show up.
I have troubleshooted all the usual supects, of going to properties next to the printer selection bringing me to the plotter configeration page, where in the device and documents tab I then proceed to the custom properties selection, where the adobe document properties page comes up and under the adobe pdf setting tab...I still cant change or find the Arch D 24x36 paper size under the adobe pdf paper size selection tab other than the standard seletions.
I'm trying to scale a pattern to fit the entire canvas without tiling it over the whole layer. To try to do this, I made a rectangular selection box, then dragged and dropped a pattern into the box. This created a new layer called "clipboard". I right clicked the clipboard layer, then left clicked "Scale Layer". Then I entered a width and height in pixels that matched the size of the canvas. The selection does expand, but it doesn't fill the entire canvas.

I then created a Custom iProperty which consisted of the following "formula": Finished Material Size = <Thickness> x <Width> x <Length> Lg.
eg. of Finished Material Result : Finished Material Size = 6 x 25 x 300 Lg.
The problem comes up when dealing with diametrical components as the above formula will only populate for square or rectangular parts. Which would work if I could use iLogic code to populate the Finished Material Size iProperty. I have tried but failed.
First I created another user parameter called "Geometry Type" which has a drop down selection of either "DIA" or "SQUARE, RECTANGULAR".I then created the following iLogic code to set 0 as the value for the "unused" size parameters

I have been continually annoyed, when creating a vector mask-heavy document, with trying to select vector mask points by dragging a rectangle only to find that it instead selects a layer higher up which has a larger vector mask.
The only workaround is to manually select the points of my mask or to drag a rectangle from outside the canvas, meaning I have to zoom out or scroll to the edge - sometimes annoying if I am zoomed in quite far.
I know that the move tool can be set to automatically select a layer, depending on what part of the image is clicked, but why is there not an option to turn this off for vector editing?
If you look closely in the attached picture, there is a spot of light blue on the player's helmet, that looks like a mistake (think it should look like the grass behind it)...though it actually may be part of his helmet.
Regardless, I'd like to take it out. My idea was to select the blue with the quick selection tool, then bring that selection out to the grass, select the grass with that size/shape of selection, copy/paste and then bring the grass selection into the blue part so it looks like grass in what was the blue part.
The problem is I don't seem to be able to move the selection without taking the blue with it (so it's not an empty selection and therefore can't select a piece of the grass.)
I have Photoshop CS5 on a Mac OS 10.7.4 My problem is that when I am using curves or a slider, my selection does not stay in the same place. For example, I chose the number 8 on a slider, after I release my selection it will either go one number after or before my selected number. I have had this problem since I got my computer, December 2011, but it has only recently started to frustrated me because of having to use Photoshop a little more than I usually do.

Thus far I have tried channel selections and the calculations tool + all the normal quick selection tools and I just cant get it to work without spending hours adjusting things. The end effect I need to achieve is a perfect white background without loosing any of the detail if possible. On a side note I have also tried taking the photo on blue, green, black and white backgrounds but due to the number of colours present in the products its just not working for me.

I'm done selecting the person and have gone back into normal editing mode. I then inversed the selection created within quickmask to select everything but the person in the background. When I click delete, the background vanishes and the person become opaque.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I have mad a selection with say an ellipse marque, of say 100px and now I want to fether that same selection outwards, ie to start the feather 10 px outward of the 100px selection so that the 100th px has a 100% transparency and the 110th px has a transparency of zero,thus making the new selection 110px, how could I go about doing it. With the current feathering of the selection, it feathers only in the marquee already selected, not outward, and you cannot place negative feathering px. I know that there is most likely some sort of a ration where you would expand the selection by a certain amount of px, and then apply a ratio of feathering to it to enalble it to feather outside of the 100px marquee.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I select a hatch or polyline or any object with grips for that matter, and hold down shift to select multiple grips on the object or objects and then press my middle mouse button to pan or scroll it to zoom, the grips that I have selected de-select, meaning I have to set up the view so that all the grips I want to move are visible before selecting them.
This is only happening on some drawings (although it is most of them) and only when I use 2012 not 2011. Which system variable it is that has gone screwy that I need to reset? or is it something else?
I have a flexible sub-assembly in my top assembly. Sometiems I'm trying to demonstrate to others how a mechanism in the sub-assembly works using this flexibility feature. It works great, but when I move just one little part of a flexible assembly, Inventor displays the wire-mesh of the entire flexible assembly, because technically the entire assembly is selected, even though I'm only moving one part. It clutters up the screen very badly, detracting from what I'm trying to show.
Is there a way to prevent Inventor from displaying the selection lines? Either only when I'm moving a part in a flexible assembly (which would be great), or to just turn them off completely when I'm presenting like this? I know I can turn off pre-select, but that doesn't work, because once I start moving a part in the flexible assembly, the assembly is "selected" and the wire-mesh displays.
When creating a selection Command using the PromptXXXOptions and PromptXXXResult. The entities are selected on the current view, but once the selection ends the entities return to an unselected state.
Is it possible to leave them in selection mode.
I want to this, because it will be better to use Editor.SelectImplied() instead of saving the last selection object Ids.
