Is there a way to create a fixed size selection rectangle that I can use whenever I want to take a selection from a larger image? Currently, I'm am doing this by trial and error and it's not fun.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I'm on the right layer, selected some text with the rectangle, clicked the move tool & tried to drag the selection (have the little hand showing so I'm in the right corner) but the box just expands the contents. (I tried both move tools, although I've no idea what the difference between them is.
I have used the move tool a little in the past, and it worked.
So heres a feature request i've not seen mentioned before: So ive made a selection, and this is at the bottom bar thingy What if i could click on the numbers and type my own dimension in?
I have two pictures and I try to copy a small part of one picture to the other.I did a rectangular selection of 2 cm square of the first picture and copied it but when I pasted it in the other picture the selection was now 4.68 cm square.
I suspect that's because the two pictures have not the same resolution. How can I keep the size of the selection from two pictures of different resolution?
I am using Autocad 2007 and when I want to select something by outlining it, the area that I outline turns a green color. Is there a way to toggle this feature off so that it does not change color, as in v 2000? Incidentally, what is this feature called?
In Photoshop, when I make a selection of an image, the rectangle selection tool stays within the bounds of the image (layer). I would like to do this in GIMP, but the selection is allowed to extend beyond the photo, and basically select blank space.
Basically, I would like to do this so that I can have a fixed ratio box and be able to move it to the very edge of the image without having to worry about making sure the cursor lands exactly on the edge. I'm sure it is a simple option to select somewhere

I have just upgraded from X4 to X6 and found that when using the paint tool, the cursor disappears at the end of the action, and appears again when the cursor is moved again. This happens when the user interface setting is set to 'Shape cursor for brush tools".
More of a concern for me is when the Eyedropper tool is set to 'Select sample', (the one I always use), no rubber rectangle is drawn to show the area that is being sampled. That is, it is supposed to draw a dynamic rectangle in a similar way that the rectangular mask tool selects an area with a rectangle changing size with movement of the cursor. The eyedropper samples the correct pixels, but does not draw the enclosing rectangle.I have tried running it in all comparability modes except for 256 color and 640 x 480 resolution, which aren't options for me.
X4 didn't exhibit these problems so I can't understand how it can't be a bug, especially since the rectangular mask tool draws the rubber-banding rectangle without a problem. At this point would be preferring to be using X4.
I have a rectangle that is the correct width (X) but the wrong height (Y). How can I stretch it so the height is exactly 200? I think I know all the features of the stretch command. I can select the right nodes using a crossing polygon and stretch it an arbitrary amount with the cursor. I can also add an exact displacement to the size it was before.
The trouble is that all changes are based on the existing size. And it wasn't an exact size in the first place.
So how can I set the height to exactly 200? The SCALE command is no good as it scales X and Y the same amount.
The obvious work-around is to draw another rectangle the correct size on top of the old one. But that's an admission of failure. Am I missing something, or is there really no way to stretch something to an exact size?
I create a new illustrator document (Illustrator CS5 - v15.1.0), in that document I create a rectangle with the rectangle tool (fill: white; stroke: black); I save the document (.ai-format; create pdf compatible file active). The file size messures 3.2 Mb. Why is that? It's just a simple rectangle with 4 points…
I am currently working in a Illustrator file that is 10% of the final print size. This is because the final size is 8,9 x 5,8 meters (15 x 7 times A1). It is therefor all my sizes have to be the EXACT size. Any flaws in sizes will be 10x as big on the final print.
So I am creating 15 x 7 A1 rectangles in my composition of 891 x 588,7 millimeters. 10% of a A1 should be 84,1x59,4mm. However, when I create a rectangle by this very size, Illustrator automatically changes it to 83,961 x 59,267 millimeters. This will result in a 5 pixel blank space on the 15 side, which means 50 pixels on the final size. I, but especially my boss ( -_-' ) would like this to be 0 pixels.
How to fix this auto correction? I think it will have something to do with the millimeters to pixel correction.
i've some trouble with a specific document. I could not align any rectangle or define a specific size. For exemple, i choose 600px x600 px in the top "menu" bar, illustrator change the values by 599,641 px
It's the same in inch, mm..etc.. The second thing it's if i choose a specific coordinate to place the rectangle , it's change by illustrator.
I have not the problem on other document.
It's a 21 cm 21cm @ 300 dpi, proprotions 1
No grid activited or anything else to force the magnetism
how I could keep the same radius of a rounded rectangle, when I'm adjusting the size of the rectangle. if you treat it like any other object, your radius will grow/decrease along with your rectangle.
I have a picture of a gravestone on the wall of a church. Because of access I had to take the picture from below so that the resulting image is a regular trapezoid, being longer at the base than at the top.
How can I make the image into a rectangle? Effectively I need to expand the width of the image at the top whilst keeping that at the bottom the same, with everything between being expanded in the right ratio. I am not worried if the images of the brickwork around the stone are distorted - I can remove them.
I made a red rectangle and then positioned white text over it. I'd like to repeat that a dozen or so times in the image, just changing the text.
I assume I need to 'group' the text and rectangle so that I can move them together (I don't want to have to repeat the tricky positioning every time). And then just edit the text - but so far it's eluded me!
I'm using PSP8 but hopefully the approach is similar in later versions.
Even better, any script I could download that would make this sort of 'boxed label' simpler?
I'm looking for a way to select a rectangular region, then pull it from one of the center bar points to create a rectangle with a curve. Why?
Our company has a nice graphic that it paid for, and I've got a high resolution version of it. I want to create a graphic of some of our products, and instead of having the boring looking "stamp styled logo" at the top or bottom of my graphic, I'd like to add it in as a new layer, then bend it around the image.
After I tried to correct the perspective of a building I couldn't remove the rectangle. Every time I uploaded a picture, the rectangle was there. How can I close it?
I was wondering if there is an option in Paint.net to crop pictures not in the usual rectangle shape but like using scissors, like someone that cuts a drawing he did on a sheet of paper with scissors, which means to crop in any shape that I want.
Attached there is a picture made through PhotoScape where big outline rectangle is rounded. I am trying to do similar one through PSP. Drawing I found some difficulties:
a) How to create a rounded rectangle? I tried to use “rectangle tool” but I couldn’t find adjust to make it “rounded”.
b) Considering the possibility to create a “rounded rectangle” and applying “shadow drop” on it, will the shadow appear “rounded” as well? Or is there something to do?
c) In some tests I made applying “shadow drop” on a normal rectangle (as a new layer) the only adjust I could make after that was on “shadow size” (dragging the mouse). I couldn’t find a way to access effect properties to readjust attributes as “opacity” or “blur”. How to come back to “shadow drop” configuration panel (attached) to readjust settings as opacity or blur?
