Photoshop :: Putting An Image Together

Jan 25, 2006

I am scanning a large image and I need to color manage the image as a whole. After putting all of these pieces together on a new window, how do make it possible to color manage the entire piece as a whole.... it needs levels and curves. If I do each piece separately, they will all be different.

I'm thinking that if I flatten the image, it will work? I don't know.

Photoshop :: Putting Other Images Inside An Image

Aug 21, 2008

I run a podcast, and I'm trying to create a banner I can use on forums and use in ads. There's one problem though, I have two pictures, one of me, and one of my co-host, and I want to put them kind of at the corners of the banner.

Is there any way I can do this? When I edit the image, the background stays with it, so I can't just do something like put one on top like in Publisher or Word. It's White, or Black, whatever color I want it, but I need it to be transparent...or better yet, non-existent.

The image should have "Diabolical Deranger" or "Deranged Diabolic"[which ever fancies you] written on it on a cool way with any cool background of your choice.. I'd suggest something matching with the text.. something dark and devilish? Also also, do keep in mind that it should be in a proportion to fit the facebook cover perfectly.

That would be cool so that I can have the title showing in that image of that video file.

Paint.NET :: Ebook Cover - Shrinkage Of Image For Preview Purpose

Aug 31, 2012

I've recently gotten into the craze of writing an ebook for the Amazon Kindle and decided to design my own ebook cover. The biggest problem I've come upon is the shrinkage of the image for preview purposes when people are browsing the Kindle selection.

The original size of my image is 2000 x 1200 (the recommended 1 to .6 ratio for Kindle covers). The book looks great in the original size, but when shrunk down to about 100 x 60, the text becomes pixelated. I've tried the various font styles (mostly sticking to the sans-serif), but all have the pixelated look. I use the built-in text tool for paint.net. I tried making the text as larger as possible across the book cover, but the text still looks pixelated.

Is there a plugin for text that is used for ebook covers to 'merge' them into the cover images to blend in more and not look so sharp?

Here are two versions of my ebook cover. The Original Size can be found here.

Photoshop :: Putting Image Name On Picture Using Photoshop Or Aperture

Oct 17, 2008

I recently photographed a wedding. All my photos are edited and ready to be sent off to be printed into proofs. I am wanting to give my client 4x6s of each photo I took rather than a proof sheet. In order for them to be able to choose which photos they would like more prints of, I am wanting to add, in small type, the image name of each individual image in a lower corner.

I know how to accomplish this manually, however given the volume I'm dealing with I'd like an easy way to accomplish this in one fell swoop as a batch process. I have either Photoshop CS3 or Apple Aperture at my disposal.

GIMP :: Make Cassette Tape Covers / J-Cards With Square CD Cover Image

Sep 12, 2012

I'm trying to take the square cd cover image and make a cassette tape cover, or j-card, with that image.

Here's a picture of a j-card template.

Right now all I want is the front cover, spine and tail. I wasn't sure if the templates I found were compatible so i tried to make my own template. What I did was make three separate ones. One for the front cover, one for the spine and one for the tail. I was able to take the square image and use the scale tool to make the image fit inside the front cover. The first problem I had was not knowing if the image quality was good enough to print. It seemed easier to use inches when I made the template and not pixels. So I made the front cover template 4 in by 2.5625 in. I exported the image as a jpg but the final image looked too small. So now I'm not sure how many pixels I need for a printable picture.

Now with the spine and tail most likely I'll just chose a background color and type over it...Artist, Album Name, Song Titles ext. My plan was to use the jpg images I exported and paste them together, then save that final image as a jpg. and print.

Photoshop :: Layers Magazine

Oct 21, 2005

I just wanted to say that I'm very impressed with the magazine. I'm an avid reader of NAPP's Photoshop User, but I enjoyed reading about the other apps in the creative suite, especially since I am trying to learn more about illustrator and indesign. The cover article on CS2 workflow between apps was a very enlightening read in particular.

One thing though: in the introduction letter from Scott Kelby, he mentions that subscribers received a special bonus 'issue' on InDesign packaged with the current issue (Nov/Dec). If anyone on here is a Layers subscriber who has the indesign feature and doesnt want it or is willing to part with it, let me know. I plan on ordering a subscription, so maybe I can talk them into sending me a copy when I subscribe.

Photoshop :: Printing Magazine, CMYK Issues

Feb 13, 2008

I've been using Photoshop

This is my problem:
I'm trying to publish a magazine for my community, and I'm using Photoshop CS3 to design the magazine. From what I know about printers and printing presses, they print using CMYK - therefore when I create my documents I've been using the CMYK 8 bit Color Mode. My resolution is set at the 300 pixels/inch, but I'm not sure what my Color Profie/Pixel Aspect Ratio should be.

I've also been told that most printing companies prefer PDF documents, and I don't know the right options to choose when saving my PSD's as PDF's through Photoshop.

I noticed my first problem when printing a sample at Kinko's. I had mostly black and white on my image, but I had a light yellow to dark yellow gradient as a background, and when it printed, banding appeared towards the lower part of the page where it should have been dark yellow. Basically that gradient wasn't smooth. I also noticed this on my computer when using a CMYK Color Mode, but it was less subtle (when I use RGB, the gradients are perfectly smooth from light to dark).

The sample I took to Kinko's was a:
Flattened image,
Then saved as a Photoshop PDF
As a Copy
ICC Profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

I just need to know the right options to start my image, and the right options to save my image as a PDF to ensure the best print quality with no sacrifce to color, gradients, etc.
