Photoshop :: Printing 2000 Images On 100 A3 / Record Action?
Nov 6, 2013
I'm working in Cs5 and I need to speed up my working process. So I have about 2000 images that I wanna print. I'm going to print them on A3 and on each A3 page I want to have 21 images. So it's a very simple process of just minimizing the pictures and putting them side by side, but almost 2000 pictures.
I made an action that I have to use for many images. The action creates an image, saves it, then closes it. The problem is when I try to run the action, it saves over the previous image. Instead of making new files, it just saves over the same one over and over. Is there a way to make it automatically save in succession?? (image001, image002, image003, etc.).
I'm trying to create an action which places my logo layer on the image in the corner. I have used the Align menu commands in the action, which aligns it to the edge. However, I would like to nudge the layer a few pixels in so that it's not completely at the edge. No matter what I try, I can't get the nudge events to get recorded into the action.
I'm trying to record a brush mode setting (eg clear, normal, behind) in an action.
But photoshop doesn't record anything when i click on the brush mode setting (it does record the brush when i click on it in the tool bar) Tools like the color picker also do not record, so the problem goed farther then just the brush mode setting.
I'm running Photoshop CC on a Wacom Cintiq Companion on Windows8.
I have a bunch of PSD files of some pretty expensive rings that were shot at hi-res and cropped.
Now, i have a canvas that is 996x1104 px.
All of these rings must sized to 540px width AND positioned on the canvas at x:498px and y:706 (the bottom of the layer must touch 706px, which I did by clicking on the little tiny box at the bottom of the little square made of little squares (that's next to the x and y positions when you are on Transform mode).
I made an action for all of these steps.
However, when I batch a group of these hi-res ring PSDs and apply the action, they are always in different spots. They all need to be set on y:706px so it looks like they are all resting on the same plane.
I found out why this is happening:
because when I position the ring when creating the action, Photoshop records HOW MUCH in pixels I moved the layer... NOT WHERE ON THE CANVAS IT'S POSITIONED.
This is what I need: to have Photoshop record WHERE on the canvas the layer is positioned.
I am trying to record an action for a simple white frame, to add to some photo. the way I do it, is first change the background layer to a layer 0, then (image/canvas size then put it at 5% relative, then control click the layer thumbnail to select the picture only, then (edit/stroke...width 20%...color white... location outside, (select/deselect, and I go to the layer blending mode to add a drop shadow. finaly save as jpg. stop recording.
But when I open the jpg file, the extention of the canvas is white and not transparent it show white. What can I do to have the canvas extention transparent as a jpg file ?
I am trying to record an action in Illustrator, and most steps work, except when I decide to create a new text layer, I select the type tool, type something into my document, and select another tool to complete the operation, nothing shows up in the action panel, it's as if Illustrator didn't see it. It works fine in Photoshop though.
I'm trying to record an Action in AI that, when editing text,
(1) goes to the end of the current line ([End]), (2) goes to the beginning of the current line while selecting the text ([Shift]+[Home]), (3) applies a swatch, (4) moves down three lines ([Down], [Down], [Down]), etc.
When I record this in an action, only the Apply Swatch command appears in the Action. Is this just how-it-is or is there a way to record text navigation in an action?
I recently found GIMP and think it is amazing. I've been a PhotoShop user for years, and actually prefer GIMP. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is holding me back from using GIMP exclusively, and that is the Record Action feature. I have to manipulate about 100 pictures per day - simply resize a picture to 6x4" @ 300 dpi, save it, resize again at 100 dpi, put a 10 pixel; black border around it and save it to another directory. I can do this to a hundered picitures in about a minute with PhotoShop, but it takes quite a while with GIMP.
I am trying to record an action to find the center of a polygon with the following commands
1. Select the object 2. Copy and Paste in Front 3. Select > Object > Direction Handles 4. Cmd+X (Cut); do not deselect 5. Object > Path > Average: choose both axes 6. View > Guides > Make Guides
All is good & well except that step 5 never gets recorded as an action step.
When I record a save for web action that exports my artboard in 3 file sizes. 100%, 200% and 400% it works for the first few files.
Then suddenly after a while the first export changes its width and height from 100% to 111%, but not just 111% width and height equally. No it pulls it out of proportion too.
When I manually enter 100% again it all pops back to the correct aspect ration. The 200% and 400% still behave as expected.
If I rerecord it it starts working again. But that defeats the purpose.
is there a way to record a script? i mean like an action for example click and select a tool , the hand tool , and let photoshop write the script (that have the command to select the hand tool) or is there a tool to convert an action to a script?
I want to crop several images to size, then add a white boarder, a drop shadow and a stroke. Is there a way to automate the process, so they are all exactly the same?
I have a new printer and recently upgraded to PS4 from PS2.in PS2 I could run a batch action on a folder of thumbs sheets and they would all print... not it stops at the print dialog box... any suggestions? I have to create the action in PS2 as PS4 was not cooperating.
I have two printers, so when I'm batch printing I run an action which I recorded, one step of which does a Print Setup to select the correct (normally non-default) printer.
If I've done this manually once then all is well, but if I forget to do it then Photoshop will GPF when I run the action.
I am interested in shooting with my D700 and lightroom 3 tethered. Is it possible for the image to be recored both on the card and on the tethered computer?
I have CS4 on a Windows platform, as a trial. I wanted to see if the printing issues that keep me from using CS3 in production were solved before I bought it.
Pretty much right out of the chute, I ran into problems. I use actions to get photos formatted to print. The action at the end, it calls Print (in CS2 was called Print with Preview). This Print step is done with modal control to allow different printers or settings to selected.
This action works fine in CS2 and in CS3. In CS4, the print comes out as a negative image. I have deleted the step from the action and re-recorded it in CS4, still comes out as an negative. Interestingly, if I use a CS2 Print command (not the new Print Preview version) in the action, then it works fine. The problem is extremely repeatable in different action or to different printers. If I disable the print step in the action and just print it without the action, it works fine.
I have 900 files I need to print out. I created an action that simply prints the current document, then closes it. The problem is, photoshop is printing the files out in random order. The files are numerically ordered, it should print in order.
I go to File -> Automate -> Batch and select the printing action that I recorded and set the folder that contains the image files. The image files are all labeled numerically from the data set merge I did within photoshop.
The problem is, even though this list is in numerical order, photoshop will print these out in random order. For example, the file folder containing the image files is listed below in correct order.
Instead photoshop printed them in this order: CustomMailer_Data Set 1, CustomMailer_Data Set 10, CustomMailer_Data Set 11, CustomMailer_Data Set 12, CustomMailer_Data Set 13, CustomMailer_Data Set 14, CustomMailer_Data Set 16
I really need this bulk action to print them out in order, what the program is doing.
I want to drag a watermark onto an image and resize it and record the process as an action. I can't seem to make that work. Is it possible? Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains the process?
I ran a batch action. The action performed on all the images, I did a save and close, but then I open the folder and the change did not happen. Tried twice. So next time, I choose instead of save and close to save to new folder. the batch ran action on all images ,and the new folder is empty. I've tried the override save as checked and unchecked.
I want to create an action to apply to several images. This had to be the result. But I want to use the action for a portrait or landscape image or 72 or 300 dpi picture.
I've created a simple action that just does auto levels and auto colour on an image, and it works fine. The problem is that it still takes me a while to go through every image and aply the action. Is their a way to set it to do the action to all the images in a certain folder, and then to save the result?
I want to prepare mutliple images for press release, that include a small border wtih copyright information. Simply every photo i work on must be submitted with a small border and the same text indicating copyright on all of them.
I import from light room and use a batch action to create the border. Thats simple enough, is it possilbe to create an action or script so that can i drop in a text layer into each of the images without a manually copying the layer text and pasting it into each file ... one at a time .
I need a way to take images of a preset size and slice them up into seperate little image squares which are each saved with a sequential number starting with the first square (top left) but in a grid type pattern - so the first square would be saved as '1-1.jpg' and the one to the right of it would be '1-2.jpg' and the one to the right of that would be '1-3.jpg' etc. Then the next row would be like '2-1.jpg', '2-2.jpg', 2-3.jpg' etc. and so on.
Is there anyone who would possibly be able to help write an action to do this automatically?
I know it's a large request but I'm not so good with complex actions and don't know where to begin with this.
Please help if you can. The final 'diced' images are to be used in a website which is a college project of mine, I'm fine with building the website, I'm just not so good with actions and really don't want to have to slice a number images individually (I'm currently estimating there will be a large number of little squares per image - something in the region 300 or so...). If anyone can help I'll work out the exact figures and dimensions so it can be done.
I am looking for an action or preferably a way to create one, that takes a GIF file with multiple images (=animation) and puts all images side by side and saves it.
