I want to prevent Photoshop from auto-adding hyphens between a more-than-one-words file name, when I save an image with "Save for web & devices" option.
For example I want to save the image as "my image.jpg" and not "my-image.jpg", as Photoshop does. PS CS5, win7-32bit.
Recently installed AutoCAD 2014, and I'm currently trying to type the text:
TC1: 2/90 x 35 MGP10 studs with 4/2.8mm dia nails each end
It keeps stacking the 2/90 into the fraction 2 over 90. How can I turn auto-stacking off? I know I managed to turn it off for AutoCAD 2012, but now I can't find the option or system variable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am dealing with text in some non-unicode encodings. The text includes the soft-hyphen character (0xAD) - which under ISO 8559-1 encoding is rendered as a hyphen.
When I paste this text into photoshop, the soft-hyphen disappears. The soft-hyphen is still there (if I copy the text and paste it back into notepad it is visible, also it shows up in the text layer's name) but it is not being rendered.
Now in Photoshop 7 the soft-hyphen renders as expected so I believe this is something caused by Photoshop's transition to Unicode in later versions (I see this 'problem' in Photoshop CS3 and CS4 - don't have CS or CS2 to test).
* Is it possible to change the type tool's behavior to the older version - i.e. to show soft-hyphen?
* Would anyone know if CS/CS2 behave like this as well?
I need soft-hyphen to be rendered because I am working with an old/legacy font which 'renders' soft-hyphen as a different glyph.
Where corel saves custom optional hyphen definitions? I want use same settings on my other computer.
one more question... when coreldraw support Turkish hyphenation?
I have no import presets created (verified by the import screen saying "none" when importing), yet LR adds one (the same one) keyword to all photos imported. I have 4.1, but this has been happening in previous versions. How to stop this?? It is very time consuming to always have to remove this keyword.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a Threshold layer (or any other Adjustment layer), CS4 opens an Adjustment Layers pallet (or Tab Group or whatever it's called) and leaves it there, even if I delete the Threshold layer. To get rid of the Tab Group, I have to manually close it. That's annoying.
CS3 let me add a Threshold layer (or any other Adjustment layer) without opening the Adjustment Layers pallet.
Is there a place I can click in CS4 to tell it to not open the Adjustment Layers pallet whenever I add an Adjustment layer?
everytime I copy nd paste, it always adds to a new layer. This can be annoying because the new layer lacks the blending effects. Ive got situations where I have tried to copy and paste a section which has been floating as a layer with effects on, and it pastes down onto a new layer looking completely different due to no effects.
Is there a way to paste back onto the same layer. Or even better, a way to disable adding a new layer each time I wanna do a new action. It is alright sometimes, but layers can get a bit crazy when I have one for each line.
Just starting with Photoshop CS6 and trying to enter text. Getting the following error message:
"Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized."
Saw this error listed in 2008 on CS3. Does it look like the same thing?
I've been trying to update iTunes for several months on my laptop PC, Windows 7, but always get a message that a program called Bonjour is stopping it. Finally decided to go to Apple store as desperate now to update my iPad 2 to OS 5. Today spent 3 hrs in Apple store with a Genius (but also PC expert), & even he was unable to get rid of an 'old' installation of Bonjour to enable iTunes update. A final conclusion was that it was linked to Photoshop. Ours is CS4.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been using Photoshop CS3 Extended for quiet a while without problems.Suddenly a blank registration window shows up whenever I need to use the program.Because I am unable to do anything with a blank window I cannot dispose of it and I cannot get past it to complete the startup process so I have to force quit the program.I have registered this version probably more than once so I can't imagine that to be a problem. I always use a partitioned drive with a full copy of the OS and applications installed on it.The same problem exists with that copy of Photoshop as well.
I am using an early Mac Pro with Snow Leopard.
I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it from my original disc but the same problem still exists.How do I solve the problem of being "locked out" of the application as I am also locked out of work as well ?
Upgrading to a later version is not an option at this point.
How do I prevent PSE 9 from creating and displaying multiple copies of a given slide ? I have not asked for or made copies yet I often find multiple copies of a given slide, sometimes as many as 20 or 30. It's very annoying when trying to edit slides.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using these tool on a lot of images, because they often seemed to vastly improve them, making the colors pop on otherwise somewhat dull ones, and getting rid of unwanted color casts..
Later though I noticed that it is often at the cost of burning out hightlights in some areas beyond salvation.I also find shadow /highlight sometimes does this also.
Then I tried to protect some small areas with a mask before proceeding, but it seems that I can't find information on just painting a mask, but only videos with much more complex adjustment such as the Russel Crow or Lynda ones with maintaing hair detail while superimposing images, which is way beyond what I need in these cases.
If I try the wand to select and inverse I get unnatural looking divisions. Is it a matter of feathering to the right extent?
I have just moved from 7.0 to CS3 (and PC to Mac) and am currently trying to get to grips with the new features! Once which I love is the auto-align and auto-blend feature(s). My question is, is there any way to control how these features work? I have seen on some web sites people talk about 'fuzziness' sliders where you can control that if an object (pixels) appear in X% of the photos they should/shouldn't be included in the final image but I cannot find these.
My intention is to use these features to take photos of monuments and have the people who are moving about removed from the final image (I guess it's the auto-align that would do this.) I tried a test and took a number of photos at home but I kept moving one object around (a pen.) The pen appears in all the images but in a different location so it always appears in the final image. When I tried auto-align with a stack that included one image without the pen, the pen was removed from the final image. Given the first scenario (i.e. the object is in all the images but in a different location) is there any way of automatically removing it using auto-align or would this have to be a manual process? In the real world, it would be possible to take a photo of a monument with people in different locations but it would be much harder (or take a long time) to take one where at least one person was not in all the photos (there's always someone loitering.)
I'm currently evaluating Videostudio Pro X6. I've installed the program to drive F:. I've set my working directory within the program to drive G:. I have the Windows environment variables for the system temp folders set to G: as well. However, I've noticed that when the program is running it's using several hundred megabytes on drive C:. Upon exiting, the space is restored. Where are these temporary files being written to? Is there any way to prevent this behavior?

Sometimes Iwould close by mistake a tool dock by clicking alt-F4 a little toofast, while the dock has the focus, but I thought it was the image(and I wanted to close this image). Then the dock configuration (whichtools were set there, which tabs,size and position of the dock andtabs, etc.) is lost. So of course, I can always recreate the dock,reposition/resize it, set the right tools inside. But that's boring.
would therebe an option right now to prevent the tool docks from closing by theusual window-close event (so you could close them by the dock menuexplicitely, but not by quick shortcut for instance)?
I have a rack and a sprocket, in inventor, is there any command which can prevent the interference between both all the times.
my actual problem is while driving the motion constraints, sometimes, no pin of rack is in contact with sprocket, so i want to delete the motion constraints and want to rotate the sprocket to move rack, just as actualy it happens. Is t here any way to do so?
On trying to save a custom brush in gimp I got the following message :
GIMP MESSAGE:
Saving '/usr/share/gimp/2.0/brushes/brush.gih' failed:
Could not open '/usr/share/gimp/2.0/brushes/brush.gih' for writing: Permission denied.
Although I have successfully done this in the past ,for some reason it is now preventing me from saving them in the 'brushes' folder. Incidentally although the brushes I previously produced do NOT appear in this folder (despite having show all files ticked) they do appear in the gimp dialogue and I can use them.

I would like to know how to prevent the position of a gradient from being shifted when I crop it with one of the pathfinder tools. For example, I have a gradient that is centered on a panel that I want to crop, however when I crop it the gradient-center is shifted up!
Pre-crop = centered gradient
Post-crop = off-centered gradient
I tried expanding the appearance of the gradient, however that is not a viable solution since it just turns the gradient into a set number of concentric circles.
I cannot open AutoCAD 2010 because there is an "Export in Progress". A window pops up that says, "The license for this product is currently being exported. You may not use a product whose license has been or is being exported. To use this product, import the license back to this computer when the export has completed."
After talking to my technical department at the office, I confirmed that no one was trying to export the license on my laptop. I'm not sure how this has happened. Did I or someone mistakenly hit export on my computer? I have never seen this before.
With this, is there a way to stop the license export process? It appears that I can resume work if the process is cancelled. Please note that I do not have admin privileges.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems using the "Project Geometry" command when I'm editing a sketch on a part, and attempting to project geometry from an assembly on the part.
Now in this example, this is the structure of my parts:
Assembly 1
-Fabricated Part 1
-Assembly 2
--Fabricated Part 2
--Fabricated Part 3
(Assembly 1 and Assembly 2 do contain more parts than what is listed, I just simplified it so I don't have to type out the hundreds of parts used)
Now, I want to project Fabricated Part 1 onto Fabricated Part 2. I use the following steps to do this, starting out by working in Assembly 1:
Double click on Assembly 2Double Click on Fabricated Part 2Create sketch on Fabricated Part 2Use Project Geometry command to Project Fabricated Part 1 onto sketch of Fabricated Part 2
This is where the trouble starts. When I try to project Fabricated Part 1 onto Fabricated Part 2, it gives me an error message of:
"Cross-Part projection failed because the sketch is in a part which is adaptive in another assembly"
Fortunately this is about as intuitive of an error message as you can get, simply Fabricated Part 2 is already adaptive in another assembly, and when you use "Project Geometry" it automatically makes the part adaptive to the assembly you are projecting from, and you can't have two assemblies driving one part, so it gives me an error message.
Only problem is, this is a part I just made, that isn't used in any other designs, and isn't adaptive in Assembly 2. Nowhere does it say which assembly the part is already adaptive in (I know it must have that info stored somewhere, as it needs to know what is adaptive where, I just don't know how to get to it).
Now that Projecting Fabricated Part 1 in Assembly 1 to Fabricated Part 2 in Assembly 2 doesn't work, I tried to Project Fabricated Part 3 in Assembly 2 to Fabricated Part 2 in Assembly 2, which strangely does work.
Basically whenever I project geometry found in Assembly 1 onto Fabricated Part 2 it fails with the above error message. Whenever i project geometry found in Assembly 2 onto Fabricated Part 2, it works. Neither Fabricated Part 2, or Assembly 2 are adaptive.
Now I'm wondering if this is a workflow problem. This is how these parts were made:
Assembly 2 is similar to another assembly found elsewhere called Assembly 3, the only difference is that in Assembly 3, I need to change Fabricated Part 4 to a different part, all other parts remain the same.
Therefor I open Assembly 3, do a "Save as/Save Copy As" and save it as Assembly 2. Now I need to make my changes to Fabricated Part 4, so I open it, do a "Save as/save copy as" on it, and save it as Fabricated Part 2. In Assembly 2 I then do a Replace on Fabricated Part 4 and replace it with my new Fabricated Part 2. I now make the changes I need to make to Fabricated Part 2.
I started at this company a couple months ago, and that was the workflow explained to me, and it seemed to work. I wasn't aware of any damage it could cause, as I haven't used Inventor before, so I went along with it. Since that time I'm working to implement Vault, and my knowledge of Inventor has increased, and I've become aware of a program thats called Design Assistant. I'm thinking doing the "Save as/Save copy as" function is keeping some legacy information of my old part, making it think it is adaptive in another assembly, when really it isn't, it is the part that I did the save as from.
So two questions: is using Save as/Save copy as a valid way to quickly copy designs, or should all copying of designs be done with Design Assistant?
Also, Is there any way to view where this part thinks it is adaptive in? The trouble I see, is using Save As has been done for a very long time here, so the part I did the Save As from, could have been Saved As from another, then Saved As from another, etc. etc., and it would be almost impossible to track down (if that is what caused the problem).
Yes, I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants this, but I liked how the Auto Tone auto adjusted the Exposure slider (ONLY!) and left all the other sliders at zero in the Lightroom 4 beta.
Is there a way to write a preset that returns that behavior?
I can't seem to use the adjustment tools in RAW editing of JPEG's. An error message comes up.."Unable to create local adjustments. All the local adjustment controls are set to have no effect on the image". These are tools I have been using regularly and all other tools work. I have shut off my MAC and rebooted but still get this message. How can I reenable these adjustment tools??
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs an engineering company we have started to convert hundreds of our drawings from AutoCAD to PDF using a batch utility.
However every file that is converted into a PDF file is opened by a PDF Viewer. We want to prevent this.
I opened my *.pc3 file and removed the check from the appropriate box. See below
I press OK, then save the file and close. However when I reopen the file, I see the box for Openining in PDF Viewer has been rechecked. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently remove the check from this box.
