I have a bunch of different Crop Tool settings. I use Preset Manager to sort them into a logical order. If I exit & restart PShop (CS3) they are back in the order in which they were created. How do I ensure that the preset preferences are restored between sessions?

Is there any way to load more than one brush, patter, custom shape etc. at a time in the preset manager? I have about 300 brushes and I just dont want to do load them 1 at a time.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI did this a while back and now I am putting together a content pack for some 3D content and need to add some home made patterns to the preset manager for some over lay effects.
I see the files are .pat files and tried to save a neat texture I made using an image my friend took of some fungus (trust me it looks cool ) using the GIMP 2.2 and then browsed to the new file in PS-CS and tried to load it up and got an error message that it was corrupt.
I am trying to find my way, of how to submit my photos to the external lab for printing. Print module is kind of useless for me - the page setup is printer driver dependant and none of my installed printer drivers allows me to define borderless print and so LR does not allow me to set margins to zero. I think, that such desing limitation is pretty strange, especially if you just want to print to the jpeg file.
So - then I moved on to the crop tool. What a bunch of inconsistencies and design limits:
- LR seems to use some kind of catalog dependant storage, instead of just some for e.g. custom XML or other kind of list
- LR mysteriosly remember your last 5 settings. If you do a mistake, you need to reenter all of them again
- you can't even name your custom ratio settings - that's imo pretty much insufficient
- I need to set precious ratio setting for the Noritsu machine, so that I get exact resolution. Good for two of my settings, but when I try for my 13x18cm (2268 x 1625 pix), LR deletes my custom setting and marks 5x7 for me. But it is off by 10 pixels on one axis! Some strange rounding and matching was applied, but I can't it set exactly to what I need. Why does LR mess with what I want, if I select custom ratio?!
So I thought, that I might make a preset. I noticed, that when you copy setting from an image, there is a crop section. But - exactly the same dialog, which allows us to save settings, does miss a crop section. What a bummer! I found xy requests, where ppl were asking for the functionality few years ago. I am very negatively surprised, that it was yet not granted for implementation, especially as some of crop tool facilities are pretty arcane at best.
What I am now thinking about is to prepare three model images, make separate folder for them, and use them as a source for the cropping setting to copy from, but of course I would like the crop functionality to be enhanced/fixed.
I have made several presets in ACR (CS3 on XP pro) and I'd like to save them out to share with friends or use on other computers, is there any way of doing this?. I know it can be done with Lightroom, so I'm guessing theres a way with CS3 ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI export many web graphics at the same size so with x6. I thought I would love the presets with x6 however when I set the preset to export like at 700px width it changes and re-sizes the exported graphic to 350px width. It show 700px on the screen when I load the preset however right when I click export or if I place me cursor in the transformation box it changes. I even tried to change it too 1400px hoping it would then change it to 700px but it still changes it to 350px.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using a hard-edged brush (round in this case), and using Shift+click to draw a continuous segment, the segment isn't perfectly straight at top and bottom. I know this is because of the "spacing" value of the brush, so the question is... can you make a global change for ALL brushes to have a spacing value of 1%?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a file where the layer manager does not seam to be contorling the bylayer color settings. When I change the color in the layer manager everything seams to work fine. But when I try to creat objects on this layer they we not use the color that I set. They use the original color that the layer was set to. In the ribbon the color default is set to by layer. One interesting thing is that when I pull down the layer menu in the ribbon it will show the old color.
In fact the work around is to change the layer color from this menu and not the layer manager. This is the only drawing I have that exhibits this behavior. Any system variable that would cause this or is this just a coruption of this file. (I ran audit, closed autcad and restarted, verified that all objects are set to manage colors bylayer, default ribbon palets are set to bylayer).
How to get back to default settings in layer manager. all drawings i am opening now, lost all layers, they are in layer states manager how can i get them back to show in normal layer manager.

In older versions the program saved the last used settings (dimension of the crop frame in pixel) and this was a good thing. Now in version X4 this does not work anymore. Is there a setting to switch that on or is it a bug?

Kept getting a nag screen that updates were available for Autodesk 360.
I logged in and updated it. The update required a restart of LT. When it restarted my saved workspace was gone, replaced by the AutoCAD LT Classic.
When I click the down arrows beside the Workspace Control box my saved one isn't listed.
Where did the saved one go? What's going on here? Why are updates messing stuff up?

I am experiencing a problem where my Autosnap Settings (system variable "autosnap") are not be saved in my Civil 3D session. When I open Civil 3D 09 (SP1), my autosnap variable gets set to some weird number (aka 6768 or -12566). Each time I get into the drawing I need to reset this to 55, or go into my Options-Drafting-Autosnap Settings and toggle on Marker, Magnet, and Display Autosnap tooltip. This is a system variable and should be retained upon entering a drawing file.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my laptops to Fedora 17 and Linux Mint 13, which now come with Gimp 2.8. After discovering that Save and Save as are moved to Export to and Export, I tried saving the default export settings for JPG. I usually set the Quality to 80 and make some other adjustments. However, the defaults always revert back no matter how many times I press the Save Defaults button.
Also, is there any way to make Gimp always use the previously selected settings? It seems that even though I set the defaults, with some images I open, edit and attempt to export, it tries to adjust the quality settings again. I just want to always have the defaults I have set for exporting jpg files without having to click an extra button or keyboard shortcut every time I save a file.
I have previously imported some raw (.raf) files into Lightroom and done my adjustments - i then saved as jpegs and took all files out of the lightroom dashboard.
I now want to go back into a raw (.raf) file that I have re-imported into Lightroom, and apply the same settings that I did previously to the jpegs before.
Obviously, on re-importing the raw files, they have reverted to the original settings and not the jpeg settings that I saved at.

Why is it that when in Draw save the tone curve settings it saves in a totally different directory? Then if I want to open that settings file it takes me somewhere else showing default styles/settings (*.crv)?
It seems that, no matter how many times i save and update the profile, all the print setting (image size, sharpening, bit depth, color management, ...) are store within the preset, all but the Epson Driver settings, which have to be selected every single time.
I really can't remember if this bug was present in 4.0 or not (I'm currently running 4.1 RC), but I'm quite sure it was working OK under 3.x. Here's the thing.
I configure the printing settings and create. a profile: Profile1.I change all the settings and create a second profile: Profile2. The "Print Settings" settings are different, same printer, one for Color (Profile1), one for Advanced B&W (Profile2).I click on Profile1 (which was created with color Print Settings). Clicking on "Print Settings" or "Print", the printer settings selected under the epson driver is the ABW one (the one that belongs to Profile2).I reselect the correct setting from "Print Settings..." (Color).Click "Save" again.Righ-t click on Profile1 -> Update with current Settings. Setting seems to be saved.I then click on Profile2 and bam! The "Print Settings..." seems to be rverted to color instead of ABW.Update the correct settings, back to point #3
Can you reproduce this? This behavior is vanishig the power of the "Print One" button, unless you constantly print with tha same Driver settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to customise my drawing templates to keep them up to date and also include accountability.I seem to be having trouble in including the name of the person who has last saved the model, and the date the model was last saved.
Manually including this information isn't ideal as people will forget, and it makes it harder to trace revisions.I can't see anywhere on the iProperties where the 'Last saved by' feature is available, but I thought maybe the information could be pulled from the username from the application options?
The last saved date should be easy, as there is a modified date in the model's iproperties; however, I cannot pull this information.I have used other cad packages in the past and this was never an issue. With all the customisation of Inventor, I thought this would be relatively straight forward.
I have a capstone lab project due tomorrow for my graphic arts class and I made a HUGE mistake!!! I created an image using 20 something layers and did SAVE AS as a .xcf image (with all layers open). Part of the project was to save in different formats: .xcf (with open layers), a .png, and a .jpeg (optimized). So, I did the first save and then flattened the image to SAVE AS a .png with a different file name.
Long story short, I was tired and had way too many images open at once. When I was closing all of the images I accidentally saved the changes (flatten image) to my original .xcf (with open layers)!!!! Now, my .xcf that is supposed to have open layers only has one layer...the finished project!! I tried going to the file properties to restore a previous version, but it says that no previous versions were found! I also downloaded a norton "unerase" utility, but maybe I am not scanning properly to locate the file!?!
When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

How can I update the saved gallery? If you change module and double click again on the saved gallery icon, the changes are lost.

How do you solve this without the need to delete and save the gallery again?

I'm printing to an Epson R1800 printer.
Print. Choose Color Management. Choose Document. Choose "Photoshop manages color". Choose the correct printer profile that matches the paper I'm using. Choose Relative Colorimetric.
THEN, I click Print Settings...under the 4th drop downu I choose "Print setting..." again. Under "Basic" "color" and "Color settings" are grayed out as are some of the "Media Type" options.
Is this normal? The problem is my black and white prints are printing really badly. They have color tones. I've cleaned the nozzles on my Epson printer, done everything the print utility suggests. All the test prints look fine.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi recieved a prom pic from my daughter and i was going to print it and frame it, but 2 things happend.
The first one was that when i tried to print it it said it was tooooooo big 40inx60in so i resized it to 8.5x11 and it got very blurry, after about an hour i figured out how to get it sharp again (by accident) and forgot how i did it DOH!!! It was some kind of compairson with 4 of the same photo and resizeing the file from 9.5M to about 400kb and actualy adding some blur.
The next problem is when i printed it, it was so washed out it looked like an old 70's poloroid but on screen it looks great. Now I've read the color settings section but i think i might have set some settings wrong [U]and i don't think i fully understand what i'm reading . I know there are settings to either let photoshop take care of the printing or let the printer.Personaly i think i would like to let photoshop do it that way any email's or photo's i shoot will have a common baseline. The printer i'm using is an hp psc 2410 and the camera is a minolta dimage7i, is this a good camera / printer. I'm in adobe rgb(1998) mode and i think i saw somwhere in the printer software to choose between adobe rgb or the hp printer.Do these have to match.

I’m a long time Photoshop user but recently picked up LR4 to try to fine tune my workflow. I’ve noticed that after importing new files (RAW, I haven’t tried with jpg) into my library as I scroll through them (1-up, not in grid) the preview comes up and then after a second or so the WB changes to a much colder image.
Does LR4 initially preview at specific settings and then change to the individual image settings? Even if so, the final images seem very cool and I feel like I have to up the temp more than I should have to. My previous workflow was to sort in Bridge and then use ACR to import to Photoshop. I feel like I did much less tweaking of my WB this way. I feel like I’m starting from square one with LR4.
I had CS5 and downloaded CS6 and now I need to get my presets into CS6 and I followed directions to export and import and migrate as well even drag and drop and only one pattern comes up from the 22mb folder file I had in CS5 that we exported?
Any reasons why this would happen to to fix the issue as well?
