Photoshop :: Porting Over To New Drive - Deactivate First?
Nov 19, 2012
I'm intending to update my Win7 system to an SSD for the OS/applications drive, and am considering copying all files across from my current system HDD to the new SSD (using something like Norton Ghost) as part of this process. Any implications for the activation of my copy of PS CS6?
I would assume that it would not need to be deactivated, as I'm not unistalling it, merely moving it?
i have PS CS3 with 2 licenses. one is activated on my laptop. the other was activated on my desktop PC. however, the previous hard drive on my desktop PC died.
i now have a new hard drive in it, but it won't activate PS unless i deactivate the installation on the hard drive that died.
My boot drive has a bad block for the 2nd time in 6 months, so I'm going to replace. I will be cloning the drive via Mac Disk Utility to the replacement drive.
I don't want to waste any Activations, so do I DE activate prior to cloning and then Re activate after replacing the new drive? I assume this will count as only one Activation on one machine? Â BTW, Adobe chat seemed clueless about this.
I have Elements 5.0 loaded on a hard drive which will no longer boot. I have a new hard drive and can access the old drive as an extra internal hard drive. I cannot use Photoshop, so I was thinking I need to deactivate the copy loaded on the old hard drive and reload it on the new hard drive. If so, how do I deactivate? When I start up the editor, it does not have an option for deactivating as I read about in another post. Under the help menu, there is a grayed out option for Registration. After a few seconds, a window appears saying there is a problem with my serial number and the application closes. Also, I would like to load Photoshop on a laptop later, so I do not want to waste one of my allowable loads.
I have a registered version of Photoshop CS2 on my HP laptop- problem is that my laptop hard-drive is failing and my OH is the process of re-building a tower unit for me to use. I can't afford to change the hard disk on my laptop at the moment and the only version of Windows that we have on seperate disks is 2000.
I know that CS2 can be run on 2000 BUT, can I re-install CS2 on a seperate machine with the license number I have and everything?I don't want to run two versions, I want to go to using the tower unit before my laptop breaks down completely and I lose everything on it! I can't afford to buy another version of Photoshop (not even the upgrade to CS4 that I won't be able to run anyway as the tower won't have enough RAM) and I don't want any problems with the Adobe systems saying, hang on, you have it installed on a machine running XP- you can't run it on a machine with 2000 as well!
I've been working on embedding an Illustrator Live-Effect plugin to a new Illustrator CS5 plugin. One of the live-effects alters the text of text objects to use standardized abbreviations for place labels in maps.  I have ported the plugin using the exact same Live Effect name and the same parameter names to the live effect dictionary of the art. This in the hope that when I open the illustrator file in CS5 the effect will continue to work on converted text art.  But when I open an Illustrator 10 file in Illustrator CS5, the text object comes up with an "<Unknown>" live effect entry in the Appearance panel. And as the text is converted from legacy text to new ATE-text, the result of the live effect is also gone.  Studying the contents of the illustrator files, I find the following in the Illustrator 10 file  /BasicFilter : (Abbreviate Text Labels...) 1 0 /Filter , (VisualMap Effects) /PluginFileName , (Abbreviate Text Labels...) /Title , /Dictionary : /NotRecorded , 4 /Int (vmAbbrType) , [code]....
it isn't working because the name of the plugin file is different (or is it another reason?)It's a bit tricky because I have now combined several filters and live effects from several earlier plugins into a single new plugin.  It is easy to receive a notification upon opening a document and check if it's an earlier version of Illustrator. But how do I go about tracing the art tree to "upgrade" these live effects to the current plugin?
I started a new computer with LR5, and it runs fine. But, when I imported my pics from a previous computer running LR4, all the pics loaded into the new LR without any tags or processing. How can I get that info without having ot reprocess thousands of pictures?
1) I'm unable to designate an internal drive as a scratch disc (non boot drive). Drive is clean, empty, I've chkdsk'd, permissions set to full, I can read and write files on it, and I'm able to designate it as scratch for Illustrator but PS6 doesn't like it. Says I don't have access. Â 2) I upgraded to PS6 extended (cloud) and after a week it now hangs during startup at loading Nik Color Efex Pro 4 plugin. Hangs for about 3 minutes before continuing.
Using Elements 11 - My photos are taking over my hard-drive and I want to safely transfer all my photos and videos to an external hard-drive. How do I do it without loosing info and/or later having to re-connect thousands of pictures?
I want to uninstall / reinstall Photoshop cs6. When trying to deactivate it, it asks me to connect to the internet. But I am connected and the other help menus of Photoshop (update search, customer service...) connect to the internet without any problem.
Only desactivation fails to connect. Norton Firewall is defined with adobe Photoshop and adobe appl manager authorized.
How can I deactivate Photoshop if the PC is gone? We had a Pc with big problems, on it was Photoshop cs5. Before I have the chance to try it, someone took the pc and destroy it totally to prevent someone to take anything from it specially data. What can I do now, we need this Photoshop on another machine.
will i be able to still open cs2, in order to see my preferences and other settings, to help me set up the cs2 on my new computer? or will it totally not open?
all I run two desktop machines both running (until today) Windows XP. I have now bought a new Vista based machine so I deactivated the CS4 version on one old machine and successfully installed CS4 on my new one. After installation, CS4 told me that I was still running 2 versions of CS4 and I had 30 days to deactivate one of them. Bit odd I thought so back to the old machine and I started up CS4 again and right enough, it was still 'active'. I deactivated it again thinking I must have been mistaken and this time, double checked that it said 'successfully deactivated' however when I restarted, it was active again. As an experiment, I tried this with the second machine and it did the same thing (stays active even after saying it was deactivated).
I recently purchased Photoshop CS3 Windows and installed it without problems. Upon launching PS for the first time,I was asked to enter the key or choose the 30 day trial. Activation completed successfully when I entered the key. I heard that you need to deactivate the license before moving to another PC so I went to the help menu and there is no deactivate option, only 'return e-license' and 'download e-license' options. The version on the disc is the extended edition, though the box does not mention this, so I am worried it may not be genuine. I am using XP x64 edition.
My old computer is dead. I just can't insubscribe my version af CS3. And so, i can't re install it on my new PC.Is it possible to find a way to insubscribe my further PC on line ? Or what else?
I have a subscription to Photoshop CS5.1 - I had to deactivate it and to download onto another pc.  The deactivation was done. When I tried a download the adobe site informed me that they no longer supported the platform that I was using (Vista). As version CS5.1 was originally purchased on this platform it would not be unreasonable to assume that the reinstallation would be required on the same platform.
I previously downloaded a copy of Photoshop CS6 off TPB, but somebody else has the serial number I used, and I can't open the application. I need to know how to deactivate my computer so I can download a trial version from the website. Â Also, I can't open the program because when I do, it comes up with a box saying "The serial number 12345678987654321 is already in use by the maximum allowed computers. You must deactivate another computer or provide another valid serial number to use Photoshop CS6 Extended again on this computer." how to deactivate it without having to open the application, and uninstalling it doesn't deactivate it.
I sold my old laptop after removing all programs and files. But I did not know I had to deactivate my Photoshop Cs6 and Illustrator Cs6. How can I solve this issue, I cannot install it in my new computer. Cause it says is already on two, and I don't even have it anymore.
I have photoshop CS3 on an old computer. The computer’s keys have frozen and I cannot access any form of internet. I have tried to disable it so I can reactivate it on my current computer but internet access is required to fully deactivate. Can I write to Adobe with my serial number or some other way to deactivate as this computer is so near death and PS3 is the only thing of value left on the computer.Â
I purchased Photoshop CS4 several years ago and never had a problem with it. My computer recently got a virus and now won't even turn on. I bought a new computer and I want to instal Photoshop on it, but I can't deactivate it on my dead computer. What do I do?
I'm trying to de-activate my Photoshop CS3 Extended so I can uninstall it and reinstall it from my old XP computer to my new computer which is Windows 7 . There's supposed to be a tab for De-activate under the help menu but there isn't when I click on help. I have the box, Disc and license so reinstalling it should be easy if I can just get it de-activated.
My old computer recently broke and I was wondering if there was a way I could deactivate my Photoshop elements that was installed on the old computer? It is Elements 11.
