When I take a series of photos to create a spherical panorama, the photomerge results are not aligned properly. The end result has the nadir position and zenith position in the wrong places. I have stitched the same pictures with other stitching software and they place the results in the proper place.

I am Windows XP using CS3.
For the past couple of years Photomerge in PS3 and PS4 has been sufficient for 95 percent of my stitches which are generally simply 2x flat stitches from shifting a T/S lens. These are all building interiors and exteriors with plenty of common points and overlap. This is an important part of my workflow and I do a few of these a week for clients. Up till recently they merged flawlessly. All of a sudden Photomerge can't seem to align any images giving me the error message "some images could not be automatically aligned". This happens under all the different merge modes. This also happens from Bridge or from open files in PS. It literally cannot merge any set of images. This is with the camera always on a tripod and exposure and WB locked down. The only thing that has changed is I have been playing with memory usage and cache levels trying to improve performance, but even after returning them to the original settings Photomerge will not complete a merge. It matters not what merge mode you use or whether you are working from raw files or tiffs or from Bridge or open files. I am having to do every stitch in Autopano Pro which slows down my workflow considerably and frankly does not work as well on keeping the lines straight. Widows XP with a huge scatch disk dedicated just to PS. A reinstall?

I have 4 photos of individual people, and I want to take equal 'slices' of them to merge into one- but still keeping the image the same size as a photo.
I know that my photo sizes are 3543px by 2362 px, and I know how to crop the images to the right size (885.75px by 2362px) but how to combine them.
Should I be using layers? I'm using CS4

View 3 Replies View RelatedI took several pictures, seven to be exact of a rocket launch at night, thinking that one long exposure might make some sections of the photo too bright. The beach is a little underexposed, but that is OK. how to join them? I thought I would use the first one as the base and basically merge the others after I take out all of the content except the rocket plume/flare, but when I try this, it puts the rocket plume in the middle of the layer and I would have to manually align the rocket trail, but can't seem to do it very easily. I'm only trying to cut and paste, and obvious newbie to elements. I have just upgraded to 12 but still have 9 on my machine if one is any better than the other for doing this type of thing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI vaguely remember a process (like the photo merge tool) that let you paint in red what you wanted to get rid of and paint in green what you wanted to keep. It didn't have to "merge" files. I tried it a couple of times with pretty mixed results (back in X3 I think.) Is there a similar tool in X4 or can you use photo merge for this? (I tried opening photo merge with one image, painting it in red and green,clicking process, but nothing happens on the image.) I will resort to the object remover or clone brush if my mind is playing tricks on me about this tool, but I wouldn't mind trying it in this tricky situation.

View 3 Replies View Relatedif you have ten or twenty sets of HDR pictures in some particular folder, that the dialog could remember what folder you've been in all day, instead of moving you back to My Pictures each and every time? I spend half my workflow effort on repeating the same folder navigation steps over and over.
And why do I have to browse from there at all, instead of being able to select pictures in the organizer, or drag-and-dropping them?
Even when I load one picture that doesn't fit with the others, and try to exclude it... the only thing that works is to re-browse. Otherwise the Align button remains unavailable. Likewise if you adjust the sliders a bit wrong and hit okay... to try other settings, it's back to the folder navigation again.
Currently looking at buying either Lightroom 4 or Elements 11 at home - can I change image resolution and merge/join photos along with the standard photo editing - would be using this app for my travel pics, family photos and photobooks?

So Ive set up a 10 to view raffle tickets job. Inserted 20 numerical merge fields, positioned, resized, applied font size color alignment etc etc etc.. Takes ages..... So then merge to a new document, works nice and I can save it fine.
There are a hundred reasons why i may have to close the 'master' merge file before the job has been successfully printed. It may be a repeat print job.
Any which way I really dont get why the live merge data fields are lost on closing the file.
i've made a serpantine curve that starts from one line of alignment and end on the other line.
i wanted to know how can c change alignment direction when these two feature line and alignment meet each other in order to change the alignment path?
I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.

Using Civil 3d2012, Is it possible to change the alignment label style set after the alignment has been created? For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.

Launching alignment grid view/alignment entities,
I’m wondering if there is a way to launch alignment grid view/alignment entities (attached) without the need to first launching “alignment”? This dialogue box is quite essential in editing the values of radius, degree of curvature and deflection angle for the selected curve.
Can I inherit the station from one alignment as the begin station for another alignment?
For example. Alignment 1 is 1000 ft long and starts at sta 0+00.
At sta 8+01, Alignment 2 begins and goes off in another direction.
I manually enter 8+01 for begin station Alignment 2. Life is good. Still in the design stage, and customer needs to modify Alignment 1 to avoid something. Now Alignment 2 intersects Alignment 1 at sta 8+15, but same N/E coordinates.
I manually enter 8+15 for begin station Alignment 2.
It would be better if Alignment 2 could inherit the begin station based on the new stationing from Alignment 1.
For what I need Photoshop for, I use CMD-E all the time to create raster graphics from vector shapes. I often use this feature to combine shape layers to create buttons. So, this completely destroys my work flow. The only work around I've found is to create an additional raster layer to merge with the vector layers.

If I try to resize the image, it gets all mixed up. I could not reproduce this on my Windows machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had Photoshop CS5 Extended for about 2 weeks. I'm using the 64 bit version with Windows 7 64 bit. So far it's been working ok but I'm now getting an issue with 'Merge to HDR Pro'. Once I've entered my settings and clicked 'ok' Photoshop stops responding. I have to start the 'Task Manager' and force quit Photoshop.
Is this a common issue or am I the only one whose getting it? Is there a solution?
I tried the HDR Merge Pro automatism. Used the ScottS template and reduced the detail and hit OK and what I got to see then was completely different fom the preview before.
My Photoshop is up-to-date and I tried another template and the result was different from the preview again.

What I want from merge...
I want to merge several images so that the edges blend into each other, so the edge will start off transparent to full image toward the center. The overlapping areas of the images are where a smooth merge of the image below [or is it above,] should appear.
These layers will be untouched so to speak... no drop shadows and all will be set to Normal. [Should I change this setting].
How I manage to mess it up...
I use the quick mask mode, set black and white for my reveal/hide and use the paintbrush tool but can never make a smooth gradation from the edge [transparent] of the image inward to full opacity. The gradation just does not have much transition to it. If I use the pencil tool and then feather, that too does not produce a nice smooth gradation.
When trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.
