Photoshop :: Pen Paths (brush Stoke) Filled With Color Only On Selection
May 21, 2013
This is what I'm trying to make...
The black lines would be the pen paths (curved shapes) with a brush stroke, but then I would like to select an area of all those pen paths lines (like you for example do when using marquee tool) (in the example green color) and fill the path lines with for example green only on that selected area and the rest stays black in this case and only the lines would be filled, so not the white space between. I kind of did it in Illustrator using scissor tool, but cutting all the paths takes a lot of time and precision so I thought there might be a better, easier, more precise way to do this in photoshop. how to accomplish something like that?

My Stroke Refresh is set to off.
The panit effects viewport flickers several times per second while sliding the stoke or brush parameters in the attribute editor. It blink once when holding down the Alt button or press the "redraw panit effects view" button in the view port. It seems like it's keeping redrawing for every change related to the parameters, and this problem is just in the panit effects mode.
I'm a newbie to panit effects,
Following is the flickering screen shot.

I'd like to scatter a small image randomly, like you can with scatter & size jitter. I can't think of any way to do that on this image other than make a brush out of it, but creating a brush from the image will change its color uniformly. I'd like to keep the color and opacity of the image the same, but have it scattered. I

I notice that the color palette as displayed in the adjustment brush has changed. Below is the display for 5.0 and below this is display for 5.2RC
Wonder if this is signicant. I know it dosent change any thing regarding color selection. Just wondering. I suppose it is more logical geometrically.

When using the brush tool (and others) in Elements, I am finding that when I paint only the center of the curser is filled with color. How do I adjust the brush and or curser to fill the entire area right up to the edge of the selection? I recently upgraded from Elements 10 to 12.

I have the banner image attached and at: www_dot_1stopbeverage_dot_net
There is two pieces of the image that were never colored in (one looks like an onion and one an olive) that are in the skewer that is laying along the top of the glasses.
I cannot get these colored right. Have tried paint brush and others, but the edges will not take to color.

I may have changed a setting somehow. When I go to "make selection" of my path it only selects the very outside border of what I outlined and not anything inside of it. Also I have to select "inverse" before I copy and paste to get the part of the image I want.

Since version CS it was very easy working with paths with the direct selection tool. I just upgraded to Photoshop CC, and noticed this annoying bug:
When I select and anchor point using the Direct Selection Tool, I can no longer de-select it clicking inside the shape. This is so frustrating when working with icons.
I used to grab the Path Selection Tool to select the entire vector shape, then I switched to the Direct Selection Tool if I wanted to modify a specific anchor point. All I needed to do was clicking inside the shape, then select the anchor point I wanted to work with. Now if I switch from the Path tool to the Direct Selection one, if I click inside the shape it doesn't deselect anything, if I click on an anchor point, it doesn't deselect the other anchor points. I figured out that if I click on the path of a different vector shape, then I can go back and select an anchor point on the vector shape I was working with, but it's too much work for de-selecting a point. Is it a bug or a new way Photoshop CC behaves?

In pervious versions of photoshop you could make a path with the pen tool and press esc to basically deselect the path without closing it. This would also allow you to make multiple paths so that you could keep making lines and then stroke them all at once. This no longer works with photoshop CC. Pressing esc just deselects the path but when you try to start a new path it continues the first one. Is there anyway to get this feature back in CC? It is such a waste of time to stroke individual paths instead of drawing all the lines with the pen tool and stroking them all at once.

I have a whole bunch of photos I need to batch process, but, when creating an action for this, I stumbled upon the problem that the paths I selected with the pen tool, and saved under the "Paths" tab need to be in every image for to be used in the action.

I've noticed that when I use the color picker and then go to the color selection menu, sometimes the color shows up in the color history as only filling the upper left diagonal of the box and the lower right diagonal appears to be transparent.
why this happens and whether I can/should convert the color to filling the entire history box?

I am trying to use the property "typename" with the fillcolor. I am using following statement:
grp.compoundPathItems.index(j+1).pathItems.index(0).fillColor.typenam e
It'll give error i.e. access of undefined property typename.
Is there any way of finding the typename of fillcolor?
Actually, I want to get the type of fillcolor used in pathitem, i.e. is it "GradientColor", "PatternColor" or "SpotColor".

I am brand new to web design and I have Web Designer 6.0. I've looked at video instructions and can not figure this out. I am trying to group a simple rectangle filled with color to some text that will make the rectangle in the background, the text in front, and be one object. It says choose both objects and then group them, but I can choose the rectangle or the text, but not both. I know this is a simple thing to do, but I'm brand new and can't figure it out.

In Illustrator I want to maintain the stroke settings while creating several paths with the pen tool. However, every time I start a new path, the stroke settings revert to what must be a default. E.g. I set 16pt + Variable width profile + Basic and stroke a path. When I start a new path, the settings revert to 1pt + Uniform + Basic, and I have to reset back to my original. Other art programs I've used maintain the tool settings most recently used until they are manually changed. How can I get the settings to stay through multiple uses of the pen tool?

The Recolor Artwork dialog does not replace the color of objects filled or stroked with pure black, either CMYK or RGB. (Yes, with the Recolor Art checkbox selected.) The dialog will replace any other color, but not black. Not even a manually created rich black. Manually selecting another color from the Color or Swatches panel does change the object's fill or stroke.
This happens with both CS6 and CS5 under Windows 7 x64. I reported it as a bug on the prerelease site. Also not sure if bug reports are still being read for the released version.

I'm a beginner at photoshop and I'm only 14 years old. I need to know this for my GCSE project.
I'm trying to create something similar to this:
Using pen tool and stroke path, but when i use the pen tool I'm not sure how to add the stroke path like that.
I've used CS4 previously at school and when you right clicked on the path it came up with this:
I haven't a clue how to get that up on CS6 (on mac) and when you right click it, it just seems to continue adding the path.

Using CS3 on a new system, but still on Windows XP. I want to stroke a path. I make a path with the pen tool, make sure the path is selected and when I try to use the "stroke with brush" thingie in the path palette, as I move my cursor over the stroke with brush icon a little no-go crossbar thingie appears there telling me it can't be done.
Read a few forum messages on stroke with brush problems - this lead me to check that "spacing " was selected in the brush palette for the brush I am using and it was. Pretty new to CS3.

I recently moved up from Photoshop Elements to CS5 which included a Selection Brush Tool in addition to the Quick Selection Brush. The Selection Brush Tool allows you to paint a selection free style without being bothered by the "Quick" feature that provides guesses about where you might want to select. I could not find the Selection Brush Tool in CS5. Is there one? The lasso is not as easy to use.

I am working in Photoshop CS4...have been for years. All of a sudden, when I try to fill a closed path with a color, it fills the entire art board with color, except not inside the path. I have not selected "inverse" or anything....and it has never done this before....I can't figure out why it has started doing this, and I can't get it to stop. Most of the paths in my file, I have made in Illustrator and then pasted into Photoshop...they work normally....it is just the ones I actually draw in Photoshop that are doing this....one thing I have noticed is that in the paths palette, the paths I pasted in from Illustrator have a grey background.....while the paths I actually drew in Photoshop have a white background.
