tried ejecting usb, cd, iso's, and nothing works. Photoshop worked perfect for months till today when it suddenly would notlet me open or place files. I can drag and drop and work, and sometimes it shuts down with a windows error message, but i can't open or place.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI cannot place Photoshop pdf files into InDesign CS5 after updating to LION. I get the error message "Failed to open PDF file." I've tried to save as in Acrobrat and then place, get the same message. I've opened the file in Photoshop to re save and get an error message. I can't change our workflow for just me because I'm the only one having this issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI edited a couple images in Photoshop for postcards to be printed, I converted them to CMYK and then saved as PDFs. I then tried to open them in Illustrator to finish up the project, but when I tried to place the images a box pops up that says "unknown error has occured" and when I try and open the images, all you can see is a blank artboard.

I know this has to do with the users network profile because it is only happening to a few people. I just upgraded all of our workstations to New Win7 boxes running IV2012 products. Everybody is working well except a couple of people.

The images have been taken out but there are custom designed objects (masked shapes) where I am supposed to place my images. When I attempt to place a photo into one of the shapes, using the Place Command, it does not work.
How can I place an image into one of the objects?
I am unable to open files from the file "OPEN". I can open from Bridge or open recent document, but not from just File, Open.
My operating system is Mac OS X.
would it be possible to place the .msi files somewhere for download?

I am trying to open a video to edit within Photoshop CS6 x64. I am getting the following message:-
Could not place the document ‘IMG_1664.MOV’ because no parser or file format can open the file.
The video was shot on my iphone 4S and ive even tried converting to other formats yet Photoshop still gives the same error. I have checked through Bridge and I have no option to send to Photoshop on the right click menu. try out the new features of CS6 for video editing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I from Photoshop CS6 chose to open a file, or "Place" the browser window open, but I have to scroll all the way down in the "Enable:" drop down menu to chose "All Documents" or "All readable Documents" each time. And then if I want chose from the "Format" menu.
This is very time consuming, and I don't find any settings to make i.e. "All Documents" as default.
I am having difficulty placing components in my Revit Architecture 2012 model. They are wall hosted (outlets) & floor hosted (floor boxes) components. I have taken the MEP, Base Building, Interiors, and Structural models and linked them into my new file. I have linked them in as overlay. Should I have changed the reference type to attachment?
When I go to place my components I recieve the following notifications from Revit and am unable to click any walls or floors: "Click on Wall to place Instance" (outlets) "Click on Floor to place Instance" (floor boxes). How do I set up these linked files so I can place my families?

I am using Photoshop CS6. I have a question about Photoshop command Place.(File- Place) . Here are some pictures below. It shows the problem.
I opened the PSD file that has a green circle(picture 1) and using Place command to import other PSD file that has a red circle(picture2). Those 2 PSD files are same size, same canvas size, 1024x1024. So it should place the red circle precisely on the green circle, but as you can see, if I import the red circle PSD into Green circle PSD, Place command won't place the red circle pensively on the green circle. There is a gap between those 2 circles.(Picture3) It's really frustrating, because I have to move the red circle layer manually to place it just onto the green circle.
This command "Place" isn't reliable, so usually I don't use this command, and use Duplicate layer or group to import contents of other PSD, but if Place command can import other PSD file without this gap problem, I will use it because it's much faster than duplicating.
Do you know why and how to place those 2 files without the gap? Is it a glitch? I should not use Place command to import other PSD file?
After getting no support from your phone support line. I am writing here in hopes that this issue can be resolved. I cannot open files or create new files in Photoshop CC trial.

The variations are very minor (Centerposiotion of a element x 5mm y 5mm in AutoCad = x 4.969 y 4.949 after import in Illustrator). Sometimes the sizes of the elements variate also slightly (a line which is 102mm in AutoCAD is 101.99mm after import in Illustrator) but not generally.
I tried various files with different export versions from AutoCAD, including different measures such as mm to inch and points and so on. I tried also the different importing options in Illustrator. When going to file/open, the programs hangs up, cannot even use "cancel", and have to go to Windows Task Manager to shut down the program. All is well until I try to open a file from file/open.
I can import .eps, and everything else seems fine.My work around is to open from My Documents --Which works fine. Just is a silly little aggravation.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, etc....all the normal fixes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.
This is what appears in my output window:

I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on a MacBook Pro.
I have been working on an image file for several hours now, and as a result, there were MANY files open (probably over 30).
I attempted to save the file, and recieved the following error message:
"Could not read the contents of [folder name] Too many open files"
I then closed each of the open files except the file I was trying to save, but got the same results.
The same error message pops up when I try to open a file as well.
Cannot open .AI files, I have run all the updates but still having to use Fireworks to open AI files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
I am an old Doshead from way back in the '80's.
One thing that has concerned me and caused me a lot of headaches (and lost hair) over the last few years has been the seemingly erratic nature of file saving in Windows graphics programs.
As a Doshead I know directory structures quite well.
Yet often when I go to save a file in a desired folder they seem to get saved somewhere else and I have to run a search to find them which is a pain.
After many years of using LR this is the first time I've encountered this issue (see 1st screenshot below). LR is scrambling my files. The affected raw files open fine in other programs, including adobe photoshop cc (see 2nd screenshot).

When I try to open up a new file in Photoshop CS6 only part of the image shows up, the rest shows as transparency. I have to close the image and open it again once or twice and then it opes OK.
