On the menu file list it comes up as list....is there a way that it can come as thumbnails instead of list..I find it annoying to change that setting all the time..or is there nothing that can be done
View 2 RepliesI am not able to save the changes that I make to the starting position of my scenes thumbnails when I use a Thumbnail Menu to create my DVD. I am using Video Studio X4 with Service Packs 1 and 2 installed running on Windows XP Home, SP 2 with all updates installed and DirectX 9.0. The scene changes work fine when I Preview them but they are not saved when I close the Create Disk sub-menu. When I return to the “Menu and Preview” section of the Create Disk sub-menu, the Main Menu scene change is present as is the Chapter 1 scene change but the other chapter scene changes are gone. What can I do to correct this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen in Photoshop CC I then go to file / open, my machine won't display preview thumbnails for each of my image files (.jpg, .gif, .png, .psd etc) and all I see is the blue Photoshop icon for each of these files, I have also tried changing the view options on the folder and change to medium, large and extra large thumbnails but again they all just display the Photoshop CC blue icon.
When I run Photoshop CS5 on this exact same machine it shows them! Is there a setting I need to change in Photoshop CC to get this to work, or is Adobe trying to get us to use bridge or?
I am running Windows 7.

When I click on File>Open The dialog box no longer has a thumnail preview. Only a small grey box hovering on the right that says "Initial View" with a check box. I have attached a snapshot of my Autocad File> open dialog box so you can see what I'm getting on my end.
If I browse for files in windows explorer and change view option to thumbnail I can see the thumbnails just fine.
I've tried everything but I cannot get back my File> Open thumbnail preview.
In Tools> Options I have the thumbnail preview settings all set to save thumbnail preview image. Nothing has changed that I know if for the thumbnail preview to go away.
It's really slowing me down not being able to have thumbnail preview in the file> open dialog box.
I have a problem with previewing of new files I made in INV2013. Old files are OK. I can not find the cause...I also found, that some new files are correct and other incorrect, all made in INV 2013.
There are two types of error:
1) when I pick the file I want to open, in left lower corner - thumbnail window- is displayed text:"preview not available"
2) when I pick the file I want to open, the left lower corner - thumbnail window- is black
In iProperties panel I have checked "Save preview picture"

I have AutoCAD Architecture 2010. When I launch the program it opens up without any problems. But, when I go to the menu and select "File" then "Open" to open up my CAD files nothing happens. My screen just hangs and the ribbon turns a faint white color. I can't open any of my CAD files from the program. In order to stop CAD from hanging and doing nothing, I press the ESC key and everything is back to normal. I am wondering why CAD will not let me open any of my files from the menu.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use File > Open or Place Component the Windows file browser opens in List mode which means that I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to browse the directory. I would like it to open in Detail mode [List and Detail are some of the view choices under the View Menu of the Windows file browser window] allowing me to browse with the vertical scroll bar. -- I think it's ergonomically eaisier.
I can make the change from the View Menu but it doesn't hold. I have checked to see that Windows 2000 is set for Details when using Windows Explorer.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIn the newest version of Paint.net how do you get the thumbnail view to be the default type of view when opening a file in Windows XP? Instead it always defaults to LIST view when you open the program. In my current old version 3.2 it saved the last view 'state' you used but this is gone in the newer versions - at least since 2008.
Windows by default saves the last view 'state' of a folder when last accessed and the old version of Paint.net also had this windows behavior. MS Word, Excel, ect.. also has this behavior and saves the last open file view state you used. Paint.net does not respect the windows folders default view state - it uses its own and defaults it to LIST every time.
I have not been able to upgrade Paint.net for years because LIST view is worthless when viewing hundreds of pictures. Is there any way to get the default windows behavior back or is there a setting that saves the file open view state?
I am a Silkypixs (SP) user and have a trial copy of Lightroom 3.6. Two questions for this audiance....
1) I have a pentax k5 and it produces AVI files for video. Lightroom cannot open these files in thumbnail and produces an error message that stalls the import process. IP there something that can be done about this? This is a critical issue to me and my impact my final purchase decision.
2) I am not used to using an import process. SP would open the files in the existing drive and then process the files. I would then write to an alternative drive. If I am reading the LR process correctly, I am opening in the existing drive then importing to a designtate drive before processing the raw images. Then I write the resulting images to another drive. If that is the case, I am creating two copies of the image (one raw, one jpeg) on my hard drive. Is that correct?
My gimp opens all images in small thumbnail size (160 120). How can I get rid of this and get the files opened in their original size. I am running ubuntu 11.04 and gimp 2.6.11, and utilizing .NEF (nikon raw)
I have tried to remove $HOME/.gimp-2.6 - that didn't seem to work. I have installed and uninstalled ufraw - that didn't seem to work I have looked at gimp preferences, don't see there anything which would define reading in images into "thumbnail" size.
I am suspecting that after installing ufraw this problem appeared and I seem not be able to get rid of it. Removing $HOME/.ufrawrc didn't useful.

This is very annoying because if I'm looking for a specific .psd file I have to look on my picture viewing software, find out what the file name is and then pull it up on photoshop. View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.

I would like photoshop to show a file image for the thumbnail (instead the generic lines of type). I know in the pref box I can set the "Maximize File compatibility" to "Always" or Ask, and this will save a flattened version of the file as part of the document. But this greatly increased the file size. I did some checking on 10 layered files ranging from 14Mb to 45Mb. The new file size increased a whopping 35% to 88%. That's a heavy price to pay both on my system here, our back up / archive, CD / DVD burning, and our client systems. I'm in the process of putting together a browser based image library. To render a image thumbnail it shows the generic lines of type if layered (useless), and a image thumbnail only if "File compatibility" is set to Yes. ( Which greatly increases file size, and cost of storage space).
Is there a way to get a image thumbnail without having to set Maximize File Compatibility to Yes? It would seem to me that photoshop should be able to create a small, low res flattened version, at a low quality setting, that would be on the kb in size for a thumbnail. And imbed that into the file, vs the bloated composite. I understand the reason for the composite for file compatibailty with previous versions etc. Just not for creating the thumbnail.
CS 6 raw conversions of Nikon Raw files, it makes a blank thumbnail with only the image file name, it does not do this in CS 5.

What happened was I saved my work and closed photoshop and hit the reset button on my PC afterwards by mistake (i dont see why this caused a problem because the program was fully closed at the time). When I open the file now it says it uses an unsupported blending mode, if i press ok I get an error saying incompatible PS version, if I press flatten it says unexpected end of file was encountered. Ive tried PSD repair tools and searched the net for solutions and there doesn't seem to be any.
The thing is, the thumbnail of the file seems to be intact because I can still see it as the file icon. I wanted to know if there was any way i can access this thumbnail image so i can enlarge it.
I have a PSD file that became corrupted when the power went out in the house while in the middle of saving the the file.The PSD file itself is corrupted.
When I load it it says "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered." I have tried all sorts of PDS recovering programs and none could get the file recovered except for a BRIGHT BLUE/GREEN BACKGROUND.
When I load up photoshop 5.0 and go to select the corrupted psd file, there thumbnail DOES show up perfectly fine. However I cannot remotely see it in details because it's TINY.. Like 1/16" x 3" high.

View 1 Replies View Relatedon WinXp and i think Max 8, you used to be able to see a max file as a thumbnail in windows. This meant if you wanted to merge a character, for instance, you didn't have to click though 50 files whilst looking at the preview window, you just viewed the folder by thumbnail and quickly grabbed the right file.
After going to max 9 (again, not too sure on versions) and vista we lost that ability, I posted around at the time but found no solutions.
So, I'm on windows 7 64 bit now and Max 2011 and was curious if this feature was ever fixed or even addressed/dismissed formally by Autodesk?
Just downloaded Elements 12 (and uninstalled Elements 7), so just starting to figure it out. Main interface is a bit different. Got 2 issues:
Where is the 'Display' button that loads the full file for viewing (not an enlarged thumbnail)? Used to be at top right in version 7.
When I try to run a slide show the program shuts down; pretty serious issue.
I recently got version CS5 [12.1] of photoshop, installed 64 bit version of it. But the "open with " in right click context menu doesn't show photoshop among the listed programs. i tried reinstalling it but the problem is still there.I did 'Choose default program and navigated to the Photoshop .exe for the 64bit version. (Default path is C:Program Files, Adobe.....) but photoshop doesn't come. nothing happens, the list of programs remains the same.
