Photoshop :: Mosaic Maze Effect
Dec 11, 2013I'm trying to create the effect shown on the image below where a photograph is made up of a maze.

I seen a TIME Magazine(few years ago) create a cover using many smaller images of its previous covers.
Is it done manually, or is there a plugin?
I couldn't find much about the templates in Adobe Edge so I decided to go ahead and use them as I expected them to work. I thought it'd be convenient to essentially copy-paste a page so that I didn't have to re-enter code for each page (like buttons and backgrounds and such), so I made an initial page with all the right code, then "Save As Template"-ed it with the name "2013_portfolio". To create a variation page off of it, I went to "Create From Template" next, selected the template I had created, and it opened, as I expected. I saved it under a different name (in this case, "2013_home.html" was the original page, and I saved a variation as "2013_resume.html").
At this point, I realized I had forgotten some code in my original template, so I went back, deleted the variation, made changes to the original, and saved over the first template. I saved over the original template a few times doing this, but I always made sure it was saving over the original template so that I wouldn't end up with weird copies. (or so I thought.)
So eventually I got the template right and made my variations (same names). Curiously enough, when I looked in the folder that had been created as "2013 portfolio" (the template name), I couldn't see the "2013_resume.html" page that I had just made. Odd, well, I kept pushing forward. I made a few little changes then saved it, and made another variation page called "2013_uxdes.html" .
When I looked at my folder though, I found a baffling sight. I now had three folders, with strangely nested folders within them:
1. 2013_portfolio > edge_includs, "2013_home.an" and its associated files
2. 2013_portfolio1 > 2013_portfolio > 2013_portfolio > edge_includs, "2013_home.an" and its associated files
3. 2013_portfolio2> 2013_portfolio, edge_includs, "2013_home.an" and its associated files, and "2013_resume.an" and its associated files > (within that 2013_portfolio folder:) "2013_home.an" and its associated files and "2013_uxdes.an" and its associated files
sooo... I have three auto-created folders, each with confusing nesting and no centralization. What I was expecting was this:
2013_portfolio> edge_includs, "2013_home.an", "2013_resume.an", "2013_uxdes.an" and all their associated files
I don't want a huge mess of folders that I have to navigate like a maze. What happened? In the meantime, I plan on deleting all of it and just making a new template, but... well, I hope this is a bug and not on purpose.
is it possible to unmosaic a picture with mosaic in photoshop?

What I'd like to do is use their logo (a simple house shape) as the shape of the mosaic filter. I've been unable to find a way of altering photoshops default square mosaic filter shape.
I am trying to design a shower mosaic, using small (3/4") tiles. I have a certain color palette, dictated by where I buy the tiles
And convert it to a mosaic that only uses colors from the tiles. I could then play with tiles of different sizes or a bigger/smaller palette until I was happy with it, and use the Photoshop image as the pattern when I put them in.
I know how to create a mosaic with squares of size x. What I don't know is how to tell Photoshop to take an image and create a mosaic forcing it (as best as it can) into a specified color palette.
I'm having trouble with many newbie things... here's the list:
1) i have to deal with images of various sizes. What do I need to do to be able to have everyone's head cut out in an exact circle such that I can move them all around and they are the same size? I tried using the marquee tool but it made a different circle each time, more of an ellipse (hence the name of the tool I suppose).
2) does anyone know where I can get a picture of a tree that I can attach everyone's head to? how do I use that as my background? is that the same as adding a layer and having it as the bottom layer?
I want to create a mosaic/collage type thing of loads (100+) of images i've taken. Is there any shortcut way of doing it, or is the only way importing each image and resizing it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this idea to place a raster image from Photoshop into Illustrator, and to have an array of Illustrator shapes over this placed image, to clipping mask the raster image with the shapes, and then to move the shapes individually, each one retaining it's section of that raster image which it clipped.
I believe I'm getting the clipping part to happen, but when I move the shapes with the Direct Selection tool, the clipped contents doesn't move with it.
I think that all of my shapes, taken as a whole are clipping this raster image...am I barkin' up the wrong tree here?
I'm producing a limited 8-colour palette mosaic for a restaurant wall using 1734 tiles represented as tessellated objects superimposed on a colour-reduced photo. Each tile will be one of 8 colours.
My question: how do I calculate the number of tiles per colour? I already have produced the tiles with their respective colour.
there is the scripting language - which is likely my only option - but as I'm new to the game:-
1. Is there an inbuilt Draw function to identify and count the number of objects with a specific colour, or
2. How can illustrate some Corel Script I can get started with to achieve this?
Any templates for photo embedded mosaic layout poster?
I am new to CorelDraw and am not yet confident to set up the page.
Assist with locating the Supplier Content in the new Mosaic website?

Sort of like GTA(video game) graphics on the game case.
I'm making some graphics to be printed on a car. I have some lines with outer glow on them, but Illustrator won't render these unless I use 72DPI in raster effects reslution. I would like to go higher, but it won't give me anything. Guessing it's to heavy for Illustrator maybe? Is there anything I can do about this? I'm making my graphics in 1:1 scale, but I do it in a lower scale since it's just vector art anyway, however how would that effect my glow? Since it's a raster effect.

Repro: Import any footage to a new project - any resolution or frame rate. Create new composition from clip. Type in "Crop" in effects search Double click to load it. Result is an effect called "Wigglerama" & "transform" gets loaded instead of the required "Crop" effect

Have a project and need to find a way to produce a x-ray effect on a object.
Some methods have entered my mind on how this could be accomplished - > inverting the excised object from my photo(s) > desaturate the objects > inject some artificial luminescence with glow or lighting effects > create a canvas for the x-ray - Before any serious time is invested I thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone has done this before, or has any ideas.
how I can create this effect. Can I do that directly with a specific tool or do I have to follow several steps to reproduce something similar.
