View 9 Replies View RelatedI've done a lot of web design with photoshop. Often times it's best to make a large picture and then cut it up into smaller pieces to fit the spreadsheet layout of an html page, but I've always found it very time consuming. I basically have to make rectangle marquees until I get the correct dimensions, usually making a conservative estimate, then zooming in to slowly count the pixels needed. Is there a way to type in a pixel number to automatically select to that point?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to measure a rectangular selection? I can CTL+Click the layer I want to select to get the selection, but is there an easy way to incorporate the ruler to measure the selection?

I have tried selecting the line with the magic wand but it seems to only select a small segment at a time.
- how to select the whole line , and not just measure the area of the relatively thick line.
- how to measure the area within the line
I`m currently using PS CS5 Extended to measure some objects in Vanishing Point (because I need the measurements to respect a certain perspective plane) and I`ve come across something that doesn`t seem right. I`ll try to describe it as best i can. I`m drawing my perspective plane based on a white reference square 60x60 cm. Then I calibrate the grid (with the measure tool) and when I extend the perspective towards the vanishing point (towards the small sides of the square) evething is fine, my calibration value does not change (as it should). But when I extend the perspective away from the vanishing point (towards the large sides of the square) my calibration value changes, it`s value increases. This is a HUGE problem for me as this influences all my subsequent measurements. It makes me question how correct the measurements really are. When I extend the grid the calibration value should NOT change. explain why this happens????

At random points of the day we have noticed that Photoshop will hang on measuring memory. We have noticed that this occurs any time an SVCHost process is running at more than 200k. We have tried to narrow down what exactly is causing the SVCHost to spike but have been unsuccessful. We have turned off windows update and virus scanning on those machine to no avail.
So I am measuring the 'red' 'green' and 'blue' values of a picture after I adjust the white balance with a grey card.. I notice that if I measure the colors from 'selected layer' they are different then if I select 'entire image' those are both different if i do not do any white balance adjustment..
Which is the correct measurement that I should record? I want the the white balance adjustment included.
I want to use photoshop cs6 extended to measure maximum length and width of objects (like in the picture below). how to do that? Is it also possible to do it automatically?

If I de-curve the lines, the area is about right, but the lines MUST remain curved for me to get the most accurate measurment. why curves aren't being measured properly, and is there a setting I can use to make sure this doesn't happen again?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use the "M" measure command a lot, Is there any other good ways to dimension in assembly? I often need to know the distance between the edge of a part and another based on a fixed view, which if the two edges are straight and on the same plane works ok but I need to measure the height of two parts which are on different planes or the distance between arcs and curves as these tend to always work from the centers?
I need a command that will basically fix the plane to the current view to get the required dimensions, is there anything available?
Is there a button anywhere to measure a distance for 3 or more points. Not using the dist, area or measure commands. Similar to dist but with extra points?

In the output grapher it is possible to display the force as the cylinder slides around the curve. However if I understand it correctly the magnitude of the force will be in the direction perpendicular to the point of contact between the cylinder and the curve? In which case is it possible to actually find out the individual X and Y components of the force? That is to say the magnitude of the force in the X or Y plane of the curve?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a plot plan, that is rotate about 31 degrees off true north. So when I draw inside the plan, I rotate the UCS to be able to follow a "plant" north.
> UCS > point 1 > point 2 (along x axis) > point 3 (along y axis)
> PLAN > enter > enter
Now, I'm trying to measure a distance between 2 points with my drawing rotated along a new UCS. However, it keeps giving me the measurements as if it were still in the WORLD UCS.....so my x and y values are weird numbers instead of the nicely rounded numbers to which I have offset from a certain point.
> DIST > point 1 > point 2
How do I get my distance to show me what the x and y distances are in the UCS that I have rotated to, instead of showing me the x and y distances based on the WORLD UCS?
I am trying to measure the area of an office space within the stadium and keep getting a ridiculous figure - it keeps saying that it is something like 14 thousand square metres. Am I doing something wrong because it should be coming in somehwere near 150 sq metres?

I have to draw this:
[URL]......
But I can't understand how to draw the lines with that measure in fractions. I have my units set in "Architecture : Inches".
For example, in the right line that is: 9'-11 7/8''
What I do is, start the line command, click anywhere on the gril (because it doesn't say where start... so I guess you could click anywhere, although I am not sure about that either). And then I put, @9
I have two identically-drawn arcs, with their midpoints centered on the same x/y point. One of these arcs has been slightly rotated about that midpoint by some "R degrees".
how do I find out what this angle is? In other words, I want to find some angle "R" so that if I rotate one of the two arcs by it, they will both be perfectly in line.
Seems like there's a simple face palm solution here that I'm not seeing. Angular dimension to measure the angle obviously doesn't work since they are curves.
I'll start off by saying I'm new to scripting. I've tinkered with a script I found for measuring the length and width of a selected object and placing those values in a specs portion of the file. It works great, I'm very excited about how much better my life could be if I conquered scripting, and now I'm struggiling to get another one working but I'm a little stuck.
What I need to do now is measure and print the distance from the right edge of a selected object to the left edge of another object named "repeat" in a designated "specs" area of the page. The idea is to show the distance between a print impression and when it will print again (repeat), because it is printed using a print cylinder that rotates to print over and over on a continuous film.
I'm a little fuzzy on how I call the value of the left side x value of an object, but basically what I want is to use that value and then subtract from it the width of the selected object. The difference is the distance between impressions.
How come when you try and check a distance on an alignment, and say I try and click on one of the tick marks it will not snap to the intersection of the tick mark....it like jumps off like half a foot and will not give you an accurate measurement?
View 2 Replies View Related I am responsible for populating a database in which one of the fields is the area of individual rooms in a building. The instructions indicated that I was to use polylines to enclose each room / area and to find the area based on these values.
Earlier this year, another student was hired to confirm the measurements on building blueprints. This student took accurate measurements of each room, however instead of correcting the drawings, he simply added override text to the dimensions. Therefore the displayed dimensions are correct but my area values using polylines are inaccurate.
The project that I'm working on includes a number of drawings and close to 1000 rooms. I downloaded a function I found online that allows me to figure out which dimensions were overridden by boxing them in a different colour and I've found that it is a significant ammount.
Is there a way to use these overridden dimensions, without altering the physical nature of the drawing, to find the area of a room?Need to use polylines to calculate area of many rooms. Dimensions have been overridden and are inaccurate. Can i use the overridden dimensions without altering the physical drawing?
I have been provided an existing cad drawing as part of a project. I need to be able to measure the walls and interior of the drawing and I have the drawing set to mm. I would like to know what settings I need to change so that the measurements appear in mm as at the moment they arent. I have attached a picture to show the sort of measurements I am getting... is this something to do with scaling? The number on drawing is 15.700.
