Photoshop :: Importing 3D Images Into CS5 Extended?
Feb 22, 2012When importing a 3D image into photoshop CS5 extended, how come the texture doesn't come too? How do you get the refined image and not a "cartoonish" looking image?

View 10 RepliesI want to notify adobe that CS6's 3d features currently have a fatal flaw in regards to obj's in that if you import an obj that had its uv's unwrapped in any other program (in my case, Maya 2012 and Headus UV Layout) then photoshop will split the model along the uv seams causing the UV seams to become unpaintable and also causing a lot of extra work when you reimport the obj into any other program because then all of the edges need to be reattached.
When obj's are your only choice, this makes photoshop CS6 unusable for any real texture editing.
I bought a library of models created in 3D Studio Max with vray and haven't been able to import the meshes with their mtl files and jpeg texture maps into cs5 extended. I was able to import the meshes as a 3ds file but was limited to the number of faces and the resultant quality was hit or miss.
I could also import obj files as a single mesh comprised of what should have been several separate meshes. In both cases without a connection to their mtl files or their jpeg texture files. I heard that there is a vray plug-in for Photoshop.
When I import a Quicktime movie Uncompressed 10 bits or Apple ProRes 4444 (1920 x 1080(1.00) 25.00 fps Trillions of collors) >> to PS CS5 or CS6 Extended the first frame is missing and the last frame is doubled?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop CS3 and for some reason i cannot open a video file inside of the photoshop here at my home, avi or mov.
I do believe its a new feature,
I am wondering if I have this CS3 installed incorrectly. I had CS2 before and after my hard drive failed I ordered CS3. Before the new CS3 arrived I downloaded Picasa from Google and that was my image viewer in the interim. I also installed a trial CS2 on my computer from finding it on the internet.
When I downloaded CS3, my RAW images were opening up in Picasa which I didn't like. So, I went to Picasa's software and clicked no to opening RAW images in it. That fixed that problem and I also uninstalled the CS2 trial.Â
But now my CS3 Adobe Bridge doesn't recognize that there is CS3 Adobe Photoshop when I want to open TIFF or JPEG images. It opens them in Windows viewer. Even when I right click on an image in Bridge to Open with, it only offers me two browsers, Firefox and IE. Where do I go to reset the Bridge images to open in Photoshop? Right now I have to switch back to Photoshop from Bridge and go to File-Open.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm relatively new to photoshop and I have been searching for a simple answer to this question.
I'm working with images scanned from 35mm transparency film and black and white negatives. The average size when opened in photoshop is .88inches width x 1.297inches height at 2000 pixels/inch. I'll be putting these images on the web as well as printing some.
My question is:
Can I work with them as-is in photoshop and change the size later (for web, printing etc) or is there some general size I should change them too prior to working on them in photoshop CS5 extended?
Cropping and saving makes my images disappear in CS5 Extended

The RAW plug-in appears in the plug-in about menu, but when I use the file browser (or import menu) to try and import a RAW image from my Canon EOS 20D DSLR, it doesn't see any of them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I bring an image from bridge into photoshop CS5 the image sometimes (more than I would like) breaks up into multiple images in the same window. (see attached example). It was suggested that my video driver may need updating but on checking I have the latest drivers!
This problem has only been happening for about a month and everthing was working fine before that. Im running win7pro 64 bit and am running photoshop from my ssd drive. The display driver is a Nvidia Geforce 240 which again has been fine previously. Would it be worth unistalling/reinstalling the program, just a thought!
Does anyone know if Photoshop CS3 will import a Photopaint .cpt file. We are thinking of switching from Photopaint to Photoshop & have a large number of files that we would still need to have access to. There are way too many of them for us to open each one in Photopaint and then export as a psd.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI tired importing photos from one folder and about 300-400 of them weren't imported (out of about 1,000). I deleted them and tried again. Same thing. On the third try it imported all of them.My thought was maybe it's going to take more time importing images from my folders than learning to use the program. I can't learn the program if it keeps dropping images. I tried another directory of about 3,000 images but it only accepted about 300 of them. No matter how many times I tried, it would only import 300 out of the whole batch. These are good jpg files that all my other programs have no trouble with.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWorking with complex vectors is much better in Illustrator than in Photoshop but when I create my vectors in Illustrator and then pull them into Photoshop, they always end up being more blurry than when I work in Photoshop alone.
Is there some sort of trick in working between the two to retain pixel perfect bliss?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed Adobe Elements version (from 10 to 11) and Brand New all-in-one Dell XPS computer that comes with Windows 8 as OS (From XP SP3) ... Now my import in Adobe Organzer gets stuck. Adobe Elements sees the camera, and compares the files on my camera to the photos in Organizer and knows how may are duplicates. I then select all the photos it finds as Non-Duplicates and tell it what directory to import into and select (Finish/Import) and it just sits there. I can change anything on that screen for options, but it really is locked up. I have to use Task Manager to end the task so that I can get back into Adobe Organizer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPremiere Elements 12 does not import CMYK still images as it is time consuming to have to keep converting to RGB. Does Adobe propose to remedy this? Also, a 'generic failure' message is not exactly useful. And it would also be useful it the official Adobe list of acceptable files made it clear that CMYK could not be imported. I always thought that Adobe were experts when it came to file formats. How would we manage without Adobe Photoshop?

View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
So, what are my options?
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.

Speeding up the process of working from home but importing pictures from the server at work.
I've been bringing the pictures in as raster images from the work Network rather than saving the pictures to my C:drive as I don't want them to disappear, losing the link when others access the drawing from work.
When I do this everything slows down....
...Even saving the drawing back to the Network can take in excess of 40mins...
Is it possible on AutoCAD LT to embed the images but not make the drawing to big to work with?
In an HDV project in CS5 Premirer Pro, I am importing images from a source file into the project window and then onto the timeline. These are separate jpg images, each one with a different filename albeit the first three letters of the filename are the same. When the images are imported, although the filenames are as they appear in the source folder, the actual images are all identical - usually to the first image in the group. It makes no difference whether I import the images separately or as a group - the same problem persists. I have tried clearing the media cache and re-starting the computer. No use.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few weeks back my illustrator started resampling all of my high-res images to 72 dpi upon opening.
example:
Image A: Resolution 300, 877 x 591
I'll open that image in Illustrator (which, I've been doing for 8 years without problem) and here is what happens --
I get a bounding box of 877 x 591 - HOWEVER, the image is floating within that box at (what I'm guessing is around a 72 resolution) 213 x 142 pixels.
If I save the file out at 72 dpi - the image pulls up the right size in illustrator - it's just any image file that's a higher res than 72.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to filter images before importing them in Lightroom?
ScenarioI work with an extensive image collection stored on a server. The images contain a full set of metadata, including keywords and more. When I work on a specific project, I import the images into a Lightroom collection. That way I can easily review, rate and add additional keywords to those best-of images.
The challenge is that the images I want to add are from numerous folders. Plus, I often only want to add some images from those folders (not the entire folder). This collection process can be very time consuming -- manually locating the images and checking/unchecking the ones I want and repeating the process for the different folders the images reside in.
The process could be greatly simplified (and a lot faster) if I could filter/search for images that contain key words or other metadata to find the full set of images I want to import.
The key is that I’m not using a workflow to simply import all images from a memory card or download folder. I’m working from a large collection of existing images and want to import a subset of those images.
