Photoshop :: CS3 Extended - Can't Get Images From...
Jun 3, 2009
I am wondering if I have this CS3 installed incorrectly. I had CS2 before and after my hard drive failed I ordered CS3. Before the new CS3 arrived I downloaded Picasa from Google and that was my image viewer in the interim. I also installed a trial CS2 on my computer from finding it on the internet.
When I downloaded CS3, my RAW images were opening up in Picasa which I didn't like. So, I went to Picasa's software and clicked no to opening RAW images in it. That fixed that problem and I also uninstalled the CS2 trial.Â
But now my CS3 Adobe Bridge doesn't recognize that there is CS3 Adobe Photoshop when I want to open TIFF or JPEG images. It opens them in Windows viewer. Even when I right click on an image in Bridge to Open with, it only offers me two browsers, Firefox and IE. Where do I go to reset the Bridge images to open in Photoshop? Right now I have to switch back to Photoshop from Bridge and go to File-Open.Â
When importing a 3D image into photoshop CS5 extended, how come the texture doesn't come too? How do you get the refined image and not a "cartoonish" looking image?
I'm relatively new to photoshop and I have been searching for a simple answer to this question.
I'm working with images scanned from 35mm transparency film and black and white negatives. The average size when opened in photoshop is .88inches width x 1.297inches height at 2000 pixels/inch. I'll be putting these images on the web as well as printing some.
My question is:
Can I work with them as-is in photoshop and change the size later (for web, printing etc) or is there some general size I should change them too prior to working on them in photoshop CS5 extended?
Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
So, what are my options?
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.
I'm happy with the NX version, but if I want to upgrade to XT, how do I do it? I looked on the upgrade options for XT and upgrading from NX, is not there.
I recently purchased a new computer and had my Photoshop CS3 extended activated in the new machine. I have successfully used the product for 5 years. Had to move to to new computers twice. This time was different. Now my S3 does not recognise my RAW images taken with Olympus E series cameras.
I have Photoshop CS2, and it's incompatible with Vista on my laptop. At this point I'm going to buy some version of Photoshop CS4. So here are my questions:
What's the difference between Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended? The extended version Student Edition is significantly cheaper.
Should I just buy the regular Photoshop CS4 Upgrade or is the student/education edition of Photoshop CS4 cheaper?
I recently downloaded the trial version of CS4 which only offered the option of trialling the Extended version NOT the basic version. Subsequent to that I have purchased CS4 and of course, as expected, CS4 Extended does not recognise the serial number. I had thought that by entering a valid serial number for CS4 that some of the features of the trial Extended version would be deactivated but this appears not to be the case. Does this mean I have to uninstall the Extended version and then install CS4 from the CD or will simply running and installing CS4 from the CD overwrite the Extended version?
If one is upgrading from CS3 there is a significant price difference between going to CS4 and CS4 Extended. If one does not work with video or 3D images are there any significant advantages to going to the Extended version?
I am unable to use the 3D category from the main menu in CS4 extended. The commands in that category are grayed out whatever I try. If I open a 2D image how do I convert it to 3D?
I'm going to buy the Extended version of Photoshop CS3 but wonder if I can install it over Photoshop CS3 or will I need to uninstall/deactivate CS3 then reinstall with the new CS3 Extended license#?
Initial issues with PS CS4 Extended Windows XP Pro.
CS3 worked just fine but had many issues with Bridge CS3.
1. Sometimes the file menu selections are non-selectable grey including fundamental functions like Open and Exit not even clicking on the x will allow PS to close! I found a workaround, I can select a tool that is not currently selected (like the crop or brush) and now the menu items appear.
2. The Arrange Documents drop down menu is blank except for the lower text portion. All icons are missing. Roll over text popup shows what is supposed to be on the menu but no icons.
3. I have setup Bridge CS4 to auto start at logon. Works OK but sometimes for whatever reason stays busy after I close. Task Manager shows Bridge using up to 25% of CPU time and the program is not even open!
5. I purchased a couple Canon EOS 50Ds as backup cameras for our business. Worked last week with CS3 and Bridge with Raw 4.6 upgrade. Does not work with RAW 5.0 in CS4bummer!
After loading the CS4 Extended version, the "Upgrade Check" defaults to CS3 Extended as my previous version. The problem is that I do not have and CS3 product installed on my system. I do, however, have CS2.
Of course, without the correct version for the upgrade checker to read, I am unable to get CS4 to accept and work beyond the 30 day trial period.
How do I get the upgrade checker to recognize CS2?
I install CS4, and it asks for my serial number before installation. I enter it in, it works (I get a little green check), and then I proceed to install the software.
So, it finishes installing. I then go to click on the CS4 icon. I get this box that pops up before PS comes up, that says "CS4 Extended".
Once CS4 actually comes up, I get a pop up box that says, "CS4 Extended - Trial Version", and it asks me if I want to keep using the trail, or put in my serial number. Obviously, I don't have a serial number for Extended. I purchased the regular CS4, where my serial number worked right before I installed.
But now, every time I click on my CS4 icon, it loads this CS4 Extended - Trial Version. I use the program under the Extended trial version....but I bought regular CS4, and again, my SN worked right before install. Why do I keep loading the CS4 Extended Trial?
I'm able to buy Photoshop CS4 Extended via the University I go to, but I would only use the photography features. Does Photoshop CS4 extended work the same way Photoshop CS4 does in that regard, but with just more advanced features for video etc?In other words, will Photoshop CS4 extended work the same was as Photoshop CS4 would with my photos?
I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended to make a set of small images for insertion in a MS Word document. I want the images to be 36 mm wide in the printed document. I use File > Image Size to make a file 340 px wide at a resolution of 240 px/inch, save as a tif, and it works correctly in Word. But if I save as jpg, with the same size settings, the file displays in the Word document at 90 mm wide.
If I use Photoshop CS4 to make the jpg, this problem does not occur. The problem happens with Photoshop 13.0.1 x64 on Windows 7 (but not with Photoshop 11.0.2 on Windows XP).
When I attempt to extrude some text in CS6, there is no ground plane, no widgets, no viewing panel and none of those fancy grab handles that are meant to be there. The move, scale and rotate for 3D tools have a 'no entry' sign when I attempt to use them on the model, even though it has extruded.

My Photoshop cs5 extended locked up. When I restarted my notebook, I received a message: your computer config changed.
When I tried to re-activate, I received a message: activation system is not available at this time. I have my serial number but I do not have my activation code. What is my next step. I did register my Photoshop with adobe when I purchased it.
cs6 extended problem when saving as jpg I get the next screen asking in what IFF option giving me 2 options Amiga & Maya what is this? My previous version cs4 didnt behave like this
I installed PS CS6 Extended today, but there is no 3D menu available anymore? Also, it doesn't support .obj files anymore.I'm also having issues, opening .psb files.
