I have a system of collections organized in Bridge CS5 that I would like to continue having in CS6. I see a handful of CS5 preferences being imported as I installed CS6, but not the collections. Any tricks to this?

View 4 Replies View Relatedcreating several collections in Bridge the other day (5 collections with about 20 images in each). After closing and restarting Bridge the collections were still in the list, but with (0) Items in them.
Figured it was a one-time-glitch and started sorting in collections again, and now after restarting Bridge the collections have 0 items in them yet again.
Note, the collections are just collections, not smart collections. I have used this feature frequently, always worked fine until just now.
Already tried resetting Bridge preferences with holding down ctrl-alt-shift on startup, didnt work - just lost all configuration settings.
Is there a simple way to import any collections from LR3 to LR4? The import function of LR4 doesn't me see the collections so would I have to go back and grab all my "Picks" from the folders and re-create a collection?

I'm going to start from scratch, import all the pictures into Lightroom 5, and add tags to all the photos and create collections and smart collections. I have a desktop and a laptop. I'm traveling, so I want to do a lot of the work on my laptop (adding the tags and creating collections and smart collections). When I return home, can I use an external HD to transfer the photos to my desktop and keep all the tags and collections (and metadata)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI believe that only exporting the smart collection settings is not enough. I have in my collections a hierarchy of collection set, collection and smart collection that works with my workflow:
-special [CS]
-- pano [SC]
-- fuse [SC]
-themes
-- holiday... [SC]

- worklist [CS]
-- dominant color [CS]
--- dominant color to review [SC]
--- dominant color reviewed [C]
-- weather [CS]
etc.
-- geography [CS]
etc.
Being able to export the hierarchy from one specific node would be great when I switch from catalog to catalog. After all, smart collections content can be re-created.
I've seen that in the DB, there are these two tables that would need to be 'copied' : agLibraryCollection & agLibraryCollectionContent. Their IDs when importing in the new catalog would probably pose a problem if we were just to import them like that.
On the other hand, there are in the SDK some functions to go through the collections and some functions to create collections, collection-sets, smartCollections...
Would it be difficult to include such a functionality in a future release ?Would it be difficult or possible to write in the mean time a plugin that would do just that: import/export collection hierarchies ?
I have hundreds of keywords I've included in Templates and I want to add the keywords to the Kaywords panel in cs6 bridge. How can I import them so they appear as individual keywords which I can then categorize into groups and subgroups?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter importing my images into Lightroom 5.3, I discovered that the GPS location data was imported for some images, but not for others. When I checked the metadata files for the same images in Bridge, the location data was present for all of my recently downloaded images.
Why would Lightroom import the GPS data for some images and not others?

I'm finally incorporating LR to my Bridge / ACR / PS workflow.I have a very detailed keyword tree that I use in Bridge. This tree is organized in a hierarchical manner, and some of the keywords have synonyms or in case of taxonomy, common and latin names separeted by " ;"
I imported the keyword list into LR and also selected the option to import the xmp along with the files. The problem is that LR is now creating a new keyword for every word I have in the list!
I think one of the issues is that ";" is an illegal caracter in LR, but I'm not sure how to fix it without having to rewrite the entire thing. Also, is this the only issue?
Changing the keyword list only will not fix it because I have thousands of images with these keywords already, and it would be impossible to redo them all.
My plan is to fix this and delete everything from the catalog before I import the files again.
I've tried this several times, but it doesn't work. Lightroom CC will import metadata and even star ratings, but it won't import the color label data assigned to the images from within Bridge. How can I get that information to be imported?
In other words, working in Bridge CC I assigned star ratings and color labels to a folder full of JPG files. When I import those files into Lightroom CC, the images, metadata and the star ratings are imported, but no color label data was imported. None of the images have color labels when viewed in LR. They still retain the color labels when I view the files in Bridge CC, but they don't appear in LR.

While trying to start the bridge from photoshop ("go to bridge") results in a bridge's crash...
In my former installations (5.0 and 5.1) everything was ok ...
After opening Bridge CS6 (and using mini Bridge), there are no thumbnails showing. I've pointed Bridge to just one folder with less than 5 photos in it and it cannot even display them. I'm running a recent Mac Pro with 16GB RAM and kick graphics card.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to select a folder (say, all images in 2013) and then control click a smart collection I had created (rated > 1 star) and that would filter my images from 2013 and only display the ones that were rated higher then one star.
I cannot seem to get this to work in 5.3 (win7 pc fwiw). When I do this, it shows images that aren't from 2013 (the folder I selected).
To be clear, I expect to see images from 2013 that are rated > 1 star. If I select a folder with a single unrated image and then control click a "> 1 star" smart collection, it shows the image still. It doesn't seem to filter, it's showing both the contents of the smart collection and my one image.
After deleting a Smart Collection in Lightroom 3.6, the option to Edit Collection that was previously in the context menu is gone. Double-clicking the Collection Name will not bring up the Edit Dialog either. I tried removing the preferences and letting Lightroom create a new one but that didn't fix it either. Not sure what else to try.
