May 8, 2012I downloaded CS6 but my Smart Collections from PS CS5 extended did not come through. How do I bring the collections to PS CS6?

Photoshop :: Import Collections From Bridge CS5 To CS6
Jun 5, 2012I have a system of collections organized in Bridge CS5 that I would like to continue having in CS6. I see a handful of CS5 preferences being imported as I installed CS6, but not the collections. Any tricks to this?

Jan 9, 2014I used to be able to select a folder (say, all images in 2013) and then control click a smart collection I had created (rated > 1 star) and that would filter my images from 2013 and only display the ones that were rated higher then one star.
I cannot seem to get this to work in 5.3 (win7 pc fwiw). When I do this, it shows images that aren't from 2013 (the folder I selected).
To be clear, I expect to see images from 2013 that are rated > 1 star. If I select a folder with a single unrated image and then control click a "> 1 star" smart collection, it shows the image still. It doesn't seem to filter, it's showing both the contents of the smart collection and my one image.
Photoshop :: Bridge Stopped Saving Collections Content?
Dec 30, 2011creating several collections in Bridge the other day (5 collections with about 20 images in each). After closing and restarting Bridge the collections were still in the list, but with (0) Items in them.
Figured it was a one-time-glitch and started sorting in collections again, and now after restarting Bridge the collections have 0 items in them yet again.
Note, the collections are just collections, not smart collections. I have used this feature frequently, always worked fine until just now.
Already tried resetting Bridge preferences with holding down ctrl-alt-shift on startup, didnt work - just lost all configuration settings.

For instance, there is a fairly small subset of metadata categories that can be built into a query. I would like to create Smart Collections based on other metadata entries but cannot under the current structure. Is there any limitation to having future versions allow access to all available metadata fields in the Smart Collection queries?

Jun 15, 2013when i first tried the export function from LR to Revel i was totally thrilled because most of the time i work with smart collections. i just uploaded them to Revel from LR. From time to time some of the photos belong to more of one smart group. that wasn't any problem until the last 3 or 4 weeks. LR just showed an infobox saying that i will upload a newer version from a photo that is already in my Revel Album. But now LR does not export any photo if it is already in another album. because changes on certain photos will not be updated any more. it is really frustrating that adobe changed this feature because Revel (what i already pay for) becomes almost useless for me. Organizing the photos into Albums in Revel is no option, because i have them already organized in LR.

So, any image with the keyword nature automatically gets inclued in the smart collection NATURE, and so on.
The problem occurs when the image has more than one of those specific keywords. For eg, nautre and architecture.
In this case, I would like the image to be included in BOTH the NATURE and ARCHITECTURE smart collections, but only one of the smart collections is updated.
Lightroom :: Smart Collections Not Showing Real Results
Apr 7, 2012I have a problem with LR4 and smart collections which are not showing real results. As an example see the following picture:
The collection is showing 13 results, but on the right LR4 reports that there are no photos in selected smart collection. Similar results I have for several other smart collections, which are either showing some files which are not related to the collection, or they are not showing at all the expected result (which can be found via filter). I was thinking about a possible issue - the results are maybe calculated and require some long time to process, but if I will leave this over the night, then there is no difference (the smart collection above has 2 rules, the amount of photos in catalog are 19k).

Mar 20, 2014Is there any way to find virtual copies in smart collections without using "copy name is not empty" ? Basically I am trying to use copy name as a version number for all images, include the base image which is the original. But this then makes it difficult to find the actual copies themselves.

Mar 25, 2013I have three seperate catalogs on my desktop, each with different collections, clients etc. Generally I'll use 'import from another catalog' when I want to import a new shoot from my laptop. This works great, however sometimes I find that all of my smart collections from another catalog suddenly appear in the catalog that I am using e.g I'm using my Sculpture catalog, I import a new sculpture shoot. It imports and shows up fine but so does 20 smart collections from my Portfolio catalog. The 'alien' Portfolio smart collections obviously show as holding 0 images (as the images are where they should be - in the Portfolio catalog). Is it something to do with a preference file that all catalogs access?

Aug 17, 2012I am using CS 5 Extended, OS Lion, on an iMac. Recently used Bridge to sort several hundred 35mm slides that were digitally processed using a professional service. I transferred the digitized files to a "master" file in Finder on the computer and set up multiple subfolders in Finder to sort the files into easily identifiable events. I used Bridge like a light table to transfer the individual slides from the "master" file into the individual subfolders.
In Bridge I can see both the master file and the subfolders in the side window. In Bridge I transferred the individual sldes from the master file to the correct subfolder using the drag and drop method. I used Bridge to further sort inside the individual subfolders and rename the files inside the subfolders. When I was done, Bridge did not show any slides in the master file - all files had been transferred to the subfolders. In Finder I can still see all the files in the "master file" and also all the files that have been transferred to the subfolders. Bridge still will not "see" any files in the "master file". In Finder, are the files in the subfolders "copies'? Is this a proper way to use Bridge for sorting ? In there a better method?

Jun 12, 2012Have been using the Extended version a couple of days now, and i`m struggling big time with BSOD in CS and complete freezes that needs a hard restart. Error code 0x000000124. I know it`s a classic one.
The BSOD`s also happens when i have used Photoshop and then have closed it. The time when it happens is always in my Flightsim X. I KNOW it`s not my Flightsim`s fault because i had this problem straight away after i installed CS6.

Oct 27, 2012I'm making order in my older pictures and I was wondering it there is a way to create smart collection/filter to show pictures where file type is equal (pdf or raw or jpg) and where keyword doesn't exists.
I want to make sure I have keywords in every picture now but I would like have smart collection/filter like this find pictures without keywords.
I can lookup files without keyword but all folder, subfolders and other files will show as well.

I used to work with CS3 where double-clicking in Bridge on a psd-file would open it in Photoshop. Now, when I double click in Bridge (CS6) it opens a "quick time pro" file, which I definitely don't want. When I use the right mouse to "place in Photoshop" it does so, but then automatically converts the file into a smart object, which I don't want either. What need I do to open a psd-file in Bridge as normal psd-file in Photoshop?

Aug 30, 2012Currently I am running PhotoShop extended CS5, 64bit. in which i have my fovorite plugins (Topaz, Nik and OneOne) running perfectly.
I have upgraded to Adobe Creative Cloud and installed PhotoShop extended CS6 using Adobe Application Manager as recommended. It didn't ask me if I wanted to upgrade or do a new install for PhotoShop. So now I CS6 running with no Plug-ins. I need my plugins! LOL.
I tried pointing to additional plugins in the CS6 preference to the CS5 plugin folder. Upon Launch it gave me a whole slew of error messages saying something cant load or launch C+ runtime error or what not. It does open up, but it only gives access to Nik and Topaz. OnOne doesn't show up under filters or extensions.
So, what are my options?
Just copy the plugins from CS5 to CS6?
I dont't want to reinstall all the plugins to CS6 if I don't have to as I've auto updated them over time to current versions online, so only have installation files for my original purchases.

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.
I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.
A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that.However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.
In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
