I have a drawing where I need to open the layer manager to turn on a layer in a view port but cannot get to that particular column. As you look across the top of the layer manager I can see all the headings of each column beginning with "Name", "Status", "On" and so forth. The last column heading I see is "Description" but I need to go even further to the right to get to the column I need to be at but can't get there. There is no scroll button on the bottom of the layer manager which would allow me to do that.

VOB is listed as a supported video file but it does not open via drag and drop or importing via video frames to layers. I get the message, "could not complete your request because video file could not be opened". Other supported video formats work. I am running CS6 64 bit on Windows. Any other way besides converting the VOB files?

How do I load an .mp4 file into Photoshop CS6 from Bridge? I followed the video tutorial from Adobe - [URL]...- which says to load them into Photoshop as layers and I keep getting an error message in Photoshop that says I have to select 2 videos. So I selected 2 videos and still get the same error. I don't know what else to do.
I've also tried from Bridge to select the .mp4 file then go to File > Open with > Photoshop CS6 and I get the following error Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.

I recently upgraded to CS6 and am having a problem with Photoshop.
In my previous version (CS5.1) I could drag a single frame of video from a .mov file and drop it onto my Photoshop icon and Photoshop would open that frame as new document. But now in CS6 when I try to do this I get the following error: "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file"
Why won't this work now in CS6?
I'm on a Mac Pro, 12-core Intel with 24 gig of ram. Everything updated and licensed.

I have just unstakked CS4, but my video cardNividia 7300 GT ONLY HAS 250 mb OF MEMORY. There are some functions of GL functions (3D) that cannot be used. Also, occasionally Photoshop shuts off the enhanced GPU functions and most important, even when it is in use there is NOT the smooth zooming from increasing or decreasing the size of the image.
I realize I should be using 512 MB on a video card. Adobe has a listing of cards that work with this new function but their prices anfd functions vary greatly. I will NOT be using 3D functions for graphics and use the computer for gaming. This is mainly for the new advanced functions in Photoshop.
I know I need 512 MB and open GL 2.0, but not the most advanced and expensive card. Any choices between nividia or ATI for CS4

I've been making web comics and trailers using the animation pallet in CS4. I just upgraded to CS6 and am really excited about the ability to animate 3D objects in CD6. You can see two short demos here: [URL] .... and here: [URL]........
My issues is that in CS4, I could make my animations as long as I wanted. There was a fly out menu that would let you input the length of the animation. In CS6 that has been replaced with the drag-out-the-layer-to-the-length-you-want interface (of which I'm not a fan). In doing this I noticed that my 3D layers can only be 10 seconds long, I can't drag them further into the timeline, even when my animation is 20 or 30 seconds.
I've looked at the 3D options in preferences and all I can think is there I have maxed out my RAM. Is 10 seconds the max that Photoshop can animate a 3D layer, or am I missing something?

I've just downloaded the Photoshop CC trial version and I'd like to make an animation. To animate you need to create a new blank video layer (Layers>video layer>new blank video layer)
I can't do that, since there is no video layer menu (not even greyed out). It was in the PS CS6 extended version, did they remove it in CC? What should I do?

Just experimenting with grading in photoshop - so far so awsome
Trouble is I often dupe the original video layer to apply effects and this appears to dupe the audio - rendering the final audio totally overblown and distorted. - is there a way to switch it off for a specific layer?

When frames from the timeline are saved using export video, some layer effects display differently from how the frame looks in the timeline. It seems as if some layer effects are based on the layer effect settings for a different frame (for that layer effect setting) 1 rather than the actual frame visible in the timeline.

I been using the CS6 extended 30 day trial, still have 13 days. left. I used to open the video frames for (gif) sas avi files with ease. All of a sudden I couldn't open any video frames anymore, why is that? They used to be opened with ease. Now when I clicked import video frames to layers it always comes back to the message 'cannot open video frames to layers because the file cannot be opened'. It all worked with the same file before so why didn't it work now?

Is there a way to open a Photoshop "video" project in After Effects? I have someone painting on video but I need to tweak it in AE. I can import it but it sees just the first frame and makes it a still image for the length of the comp.
Also, I am only seeing "Photoshop Sequence" and "h.264 Quicktime" as options for video export from PS. I have all the flavors of Quicktime when rendering from AE (ProRes HQ), etc. Couldn't PS do the same?

When I first started using PSCS4, I was using a nVidia gs7800 card and with it open GL was flaky so I changed to an nVidia GeForece 9500 GT w/512 RAM )claiming open GL 3.0) and then open GL was stable. With the upgrade to 11.01 and the latest nVidia drivers for my card, PSCS4 now says I have no open GL it can use and I should either change my video card and/or update its software. What gives and, more important, how can I get get PS to use the open GL I have?

how would I go about applying content aware scaling to a video layer inside PS? Basically I'm trying to use this feature to fake an aspect ratio change where by I have a subject surrounded by a relatively uniform background and I would like to be able to create a protection mask as an alpha layer and have photoshop apply the content aware scaling only to the background(to fill in the empty parts of the rescaled video) and leave the subject untouched.
What I've done is opened a video in photoshop as a layer, created an alpha channel to represent the subject(subject is white, background is black on the created alpha channel), changed the canvas size to the new aspect ratio which obviously created a tranparent frame around the original video frame. I then tried to apply content aware scaling to the video, it converted the layer to a smart object then displayed the free transform handles. However, when I selected my alpha channel as the protection area, the content aware scaling seemed to ignore it and went on to distort the entire frame. Now I tried this with still frame from the same video with the same mask/alpha channel and it worked as expected just didn't seem to do it with video.
The idea, if it would be possible to do this in PS, is to rotoscope the subject roughly in AE and generate a matte pass which can then be used as the accompanying alpha layer of the video so then the content aware scaling can be applied to each invidividual frame.

Adobe accepts only NVIDIA and ATI series of video cards. I just bought a Sony laptop with a different video card (INDVID-001637-64) with 1.8 GB onboard RAM and with Open GL capabilities but PS CS4 extended 64bit does not recognize the card. Is there a work-around to get PS to recognize this card or am I just not going to be able to use the Open GL for PS. I have been to Sony Vaio to see if there are any other possibilities but can't find any updates that work on my particular computer. I am running a Windows Home Premium Vista, 64 bit system with 4 GB of RAM so I am sure all of that is OK. I just don't know where else to go for information except back to where I purchased the computer. Maybe replace the video board if possible. Or maybe Open GL just isn't worth going to the trouble. Seems like that might be the case also according to some of the discussion here.

I am having trouble in Photoshop CS6 trying to erase outer edges on a pasted video layer I have a short animated video I am working on but when I paste an animated video from file I cannot erase the outer edges because every time I try to do this it converts the pasted video to a smart object and then when I only gives the option to rasterize the pasted video layer, after it is rasterized it becomes a static image which dosent have any animation at all. Is there any way I can erase the edges around the video layer without this happening?

With Photoshop CC, when editing a video and adding a "Camera Raw Filter" to some video layer, the effect will be applied only to one frame and not to the whole video layer.
Should it not add that filter to the whole layer (e.g. all frames in that clip)?

When I try to make DVD with VideoStudio X6, I always got the out of size warning when I have more than 60 minutes of video. I can click 'OK' to let VS X6 adjust the video (quality) and fit it into a DVD. But I'm curious why VS X6 always complains about video longer than 60 minutes while on the internet most people (including Microsoft) said 120-150 minutes for a single layer DVD?

Check out the first 45 seconds of this video to get an idea of what I'm asking about:
I'd like to do as she did when listing off the items that will be needed. Rather than stringing video clips together of each item by itself, I want it to have the same look--to have each item appear one after the other. To me, it looks like each clip of each item was layered on top of the original video of the first pair of leggings.

I have a video clip that I have edited, and once it finishes exporting, I cannot open it in any video playing application. Upon checking the file's Properites, it says that it is a 24 byte file... this can't be right. In the Export Settings window it says that it's several gigabytes!
I'm using a custom built PC, running the most up-to-date version of Windows 8. I have a quad-core Intel Ivy Bridge Processor, AMD HD Radeon 7770 GPU, 8 GB of 1600 MHz RAM, a 256 GB SSD running the OS and frequently used applications, and a 1 TB HDD. I am running Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and it is completely up to date.
I have been digitally converting old VHS, 8mm, and miniDV tapes. I have a digtial converter that has Composite ports and an S-Video port on it. It connects to the computer via USB. I have a program called Debut Video Capture that records the video and saves it as an uncompressed .mp4 video file. Premiere Pro also has another issue where the audio and video are always out of sync because it can't seem to handle videos with variable framerates, so, I open the videos in Quicktime 7 Pro, and save them as a Reference Movie—This makes it so the videos are at a constant framerate. I take these files and import them into Premiere Pro. My sequence is DV - NTSC Standard 48kHz (the videos are all in an old 4:3 format). I'll drop the clips into the timeline and edit them, edit out the blue screens and splice different clips and such, lower the volume, and slightly increase the Scale in the Video Effects.
When everything is done... I'll open up the Export Settings.
I set the Format to H.264 and Preset to NTSC DV or NTSC DV Widescreen depending on the ratio of the video. Some of the videos are very long (1 Hour or longer... one video is almost 4 hours long). I will go down to the Bitrate Settings and change the Bitrate Encoding to CBR, and set the Target Bitrate to a reasonably high number. I try to have a minimum of 10 Mbps, or if the video isn't that large, I'll set it to 14. If the Estimated File Size is over like 3 GB (I'm not sure of the number, but it works for these long videos when they're under like 3 GB). If the videos go over, they'll encode for an hour or longer and when it's done, it will save and appear as a 24 byte file.
The only thing I've got is to make the Target Bitrate very small, that's the only way the videos will encode, but then the quality degrades...

Recently my Photoshop has decided that it no longer likes Background Layers so every time I open a jpg file in Photoshop CS6 it opens the file as a layer instead of a bakcground layer.
It's a small issue but when you are working with 100+ photos that need a quick edit and save it becomes incredibly annoying to have to reset the file type I want to save to or adjust the layer back to a background layer with each photo. When I'm doing it once or twice it's no big deal but those extra few steps become time consuming when I work in bulk and I work on a tight deadline.
It's only doing it with some files. Mostly the newer ones. Any older jpgs I open are fine but anything new is opened as a regular layer.
Is there some sort of setting I accidentally clicked without realising it? Because I have looked everywhere I can think of and fiddled with settings all over the place but something missing.

I am trying to duplicate a layer to another open document.
The problem is that it is not visible at all at the new document once the duplication procedure is complete.
Although the layers panel depicts the duplicated layer plus the usual backg. layer, in the document/canvas itself i do not see the layer which by the way is an icon.
