I was wondering how to select a photo from a scan. I used the various selection tools and then copied and pasted the photo into a new Photoshop document and the scan appears striated and strange. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly?

I have an all black jpeg image, a flourish - I want to select all of the black, and change it to white instead. When I try and select it with the selection tool, it takes forever and isn't accurate bc there are so many twirls in it, etc. Is there a way to ask photoshop to select all black, and transform it into another color?

I've been trying to use the magnetic lasso, but when I get to an area where there's a shadow (lack of contrast) the magnetic lasso becomes somewhat less useful.
I use Photoshop Cs3 and know a little about it. I have a photo I scanned in at 600 ppi and I want to select part of it - blow that up to an output of at least 8" wide.
I do not have Illustrator - I use a Mac and am currently working on a project with Mac's program ipages.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Xara Photo and Graphic Designer 2013's Color Select feature to remove the background (white) of a picture and extract the main image so I can superimpose it to another picture.
(Picture enclosed, color select is perfect because it removes all the white background around and inside the screen like image I need to isolate)
I applied the Color Select, it removes the background, isolates the image but that's where the problem starts.
The isolated image will not be save or can not be exported and causes an error if it is cut, saved or unclipped from the group.
In Photoshop I've seen it's possible to select or move the contents of a selected layer by clicking and dragging *anywhere* on the canvas, which avoids the problem of misclicks inadvertently deselecting the current layer (and selecting another instead). This happens especially when trying to select thin, hard-to-see, or small graphics mixed with bigger graphics on other layers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to use the color select/erase feature in Xara P&GD9 (version 9.1.1.28178) on my Windows 7 64-bit computer. I can use this feature to change the appearance of the sky in a photo -- for example, to change it from something drab to an attractive blue. I've now tried to do this in several versions of two photos, and I've been completely unsuccessful. Following the instructions, I first used the color select/erase tool and clicked on the sky in several places to erase it. I then clicked on the Make Soft Mask button and saw that everything but the sky was now pink. I then went to Enhance in the Photo Tool and selected the Hue control. But no matter where or how much I changed the Hue and/or the strength, nothing happened. I was left with the same drab sky I started with. I've tried to show what I've done with four thumbnails.

If I check off "Select workspace at startup" every time I start Photo-Paint the workspace selection box is hidden behind the splash screen!

So I have to say I love LR4, the only prob is if I capture a frame from one of my videos I cant access it. When I go to grid mode just like Julieanne does my captured photo is stacked on top of my video & I cant select it to edit it.

I upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and need to be able to import using TWAIN so that I can scan at 256 colors like I used to be able to with CS3. I cannot convert to 256 colors afterwards as the quality is too poor.
I am using 64 bit Windows 7. I tried installing the TWAIN plugin in the Adobe/plugins/import folder but it does not show up in the import options after restarting PS. I wouldn't mind downgrading to PS3 if I have to.

I had to scan and resize. Original, physical picture is 1 1/4in X 2in. Scanned image requirements: resolution of at least 150 dpi, 600 X 600 pixels, 24 bit color, and keep it under 240 KB.

View 2 Replies View Relatedway to make a text animation in Image Ready. I'd like to have white or bright green text against a black background and have it display as if it was being scanned over. One wide stripe moving right to left exposing the text underneath then moving back, never exposing the whole word at once, just a section. I had thought I could make a black layer over the top of the text, clear away a scection and manually move the layer in IR, but to no avail. Sorry I don't have a visual example of it for you.
