I had to scan and resize. Original, physical picture is 1 1/4in X 2in. Scanned image requirements: resolution of at least 150 dpi, 600 X 600 pixels, 24 bit color, and keep it under 240 KB.
I have basic Canon scanner and CS2....
It has come to my attention that the new drag-resize feature only changes the master diameter of the brush but leaves the dual-brush diameter intact. It is the only shortcut that does this resizing improperly.
I would like to know if everyone else experiences the same problem. Is it a bug or is this way of resizing intended?
I mainly do digital paintings and this small bug makes the feature useless for me. I hope that it will be fixed at least in cs5.
In previous versions I have been able to resize the canvas and then resize the image. For example resize the canvas to 250px x 250 px. Then resize the image to the same.

Here is the process I am using:

Duplicate the layer and then hide it. Resize the canvas (Image > Canvas Size) to 250px x 250 px. Un-hide the layer and then resize the image (Image > Image Size). When I go into Image>Image Size it says that the image is already 250px x 250px. However if I try to transform the scale the image is the original size and not 250px x 250px

The reason for needing this is I resize image size (in bulk) and the canvas size using the batch process (file>automate>batch) and actions.  I loaded the actions file I used in previous versions, but that did not work correctly. I then went in to do this manually and got the same results.
I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version -Â Â 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box.Â
I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?
I'm keen to reduce into A4 equivalents. I was told Photoshop would be able to cope,
I need to use layers and canvas size etc. and maybe dragging across assuming I've scanned the two halves of the A3 correctly/accurately?
I upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and need to be able to import using TWAIN so that I can scan at 256 colors like I used to be able to with CS3. I cannot convert to 256 colors afterwards as the quality is too poor.
I am using 64 bit Windows 7. I tried installing the TWAIN plugin in the Adobe/plugins/import folder but it does not show up in the import options after restarting PS. I wouldn't mind downgrading to PS3 if I have to.

One wide stripe moving right to left exposing the text underneath then moving back, never exposing the whole word at once, just a section. If the photo has scan lines, then it has scan lines. the lines are now a part of the photo. they're not 'on the photo' they're in it. depending on how pronounced they are, they can be minimized. if you post a copy, I'll show you how. (maybe, no guarantee it can be saved)

So I would like to make a single-row pixel selection, then call that plugin and get a curve plot of RGB vs. pixel count; really pretty basic.
a grayscale scan of a line drawing with small text. The lines and text, which should be black, are gray. And the background, which should be white, is a light gray.
The lines should be 100% black, but I'll take what I can get. I fiddled with curves and contrast and stuff, but when I'd get the background adjusted so it was completely white, then the lines weren't dark enough.
And of course converting to a bi-level bitmap made the lines and text all pixelly
this will be offset printed, so it needs to be high resolution.
I recently downloaded Publisher and just now went to scan in a pic through Photoshop and discovered that my options in importing are limited to Annotations and WIA support. I tried to scan in through Picassa and it said that the scanner has been taken over by another program. I can only assume that it's Publisher. So, short of uninstalling Publisher,

The effect I talk about is kind of like when you scan a picture from a magazine and you get the picture with all those tiny circles and lo-fi points in yellow, red, green and blue.
I scanned in some text and I want to create a vector of it. There should be a way to do this automatically...
After touchup, the text is pretty much black + white and almost solid.
Theres slight color artifacts in the background and the text isnt quite 100% solid... but theyre really close enough.
Anyways, how could I transform the text to solid vector format? Ideally I want to make it a font. It should be polygonal, straight and flat sides, etc. Any ideas?
Is it possible to do a colored scanline, say like green?

Other options I almost never use, is there any way to disable them from showing up in the File > Import menu?
