View 10 RepliesIs there any registry hack for setting photoshop as default image editor in coreldraw. i.e. when we double click an image, photoshop should launch?
Windows 7 [64-bit], Core i3 - 3.02 GHz, 4GB DDR 3 RAM
If you right-click an image and click "Edit" in Windows, this opens the image in MS Paint. And you can't change this. Or that's what I thought; here's how to change that to Paint.NET!
Warning: This post probably looks really suspicious since this is my first post. What the heck. Anyways, I know diddly squat about the Registry. Some tweak sites for XP mentioned this tweak (stating this key would be found at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ SystemFileAssociations \ image \ shell \ edit \ command). That exact key didn't exist. So, I searched the Registry for "SystemFileAssociations" and found the key I wrote below (in HKLM). I then took a huge risk and tried the hack. It worked, but I may have inadvertently told Windows to delete C:\Windows upon reboot.
All right, so if you right-click an image in Windows XP, Vista, or 7, there is an option in the context menu called "edit". This defaults to MS Paint and I thought that was impossible to change. Until I did some Google'ing (see Warning above). Go to this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit\command
First, back up your registry (System Restore or regedit.exe -> File -> Export). Again, anything you do now is completely your responsibility. Then, right-click the only key in there, click Modify, and replace the path with your PaintDotNet.exe path (obviously include \PaintDotNet.exe). Don't change the quotes or the %1. Just delete MS Paint's path and insert PaintDotNet.exe's path.
I had to reload my CS software and have not been able to use CS3 as the default vile viewer. Now CS is loaded when using the "open" and CS only appears in the "open with list".
Obviously I would prefer all Photoshop programes (PS6, 7, etc) to be available, but will settle for the latest (CS3) to open my images. It would seem that because I reloaded CS the OS sees this as the default imagefile viewer. Have not been able to find an answer in the forum replies or FAQ's.
When I right click on an image in Windows Explorer or Adobe Bridge, then click on "open with", in the list of image viewers and programs, Photoshop Elements is not listed. When I browse to the PE11 .exe file to select it, nothing happens. How can I set PE11 to be the default photo editing program?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I change my Editor default back to Elements 8? When I downloaded a trial version of Elements 11, my default changed to version 11. I use Adobe Lightroom, and when I switch over to Elements using "Edit In", it automatically open Elements 11 now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using the macro that allows you to use photoshop as the default bitmap editor, however I've just installed photoshop cs4 (i had been using cs3) when I run though the set up instructions and get to the reference file bit the cs3 object library has vanished and the cs4 wont work, I have tried to browse for the file that would link the cs3 object library but I'm unsure as to what it is called?
the reference box will only partially show me some of the directory path name which I presume is similar for cs3.
I've searched for the Camera Raw setting that is available from the Photoshop (not PSE8) menu but it is not even available in Photoshop Elements 8 that I've been able to see. Where this setting is?
View 5 Replies View RelatedPSE 9 linked perfectly with LR but PSE 10 is not. When i go to define external editor in LR4 (version 4.1), it lists Photoshop in the top section but I cannot select it as my external editor when I use "Edit In". It also doesn't link when I select PSE as the "additional" external editor. But I'd prefer it worked as the default because I want to use Topaz as my "additional" external editor.
I am only allowed to choose an additional external editior, not the default external editor. I have looked all over for a way to re-point LR4 to PSE 10.
where I can change what my default photo editor to what I want. Each time I plug anything that MIGHT have a photo on it activates LR3 causing me to wait until it fully launches and then I have to cancel the import process and then go to file and exit.
My LR3 window is a little two large for the screen and I can't see the red X or the min. button or any other options. I also can't see/find the tools that should show up on the left side of the window. The screen resolution is set an the recommended for my computer and all other programs, but I guess I haven't tried to change it to resolve this issue.
I have exactly same question as here: [URL] .... but this solution does not work in 2012 max.
first of all i don't have that "enu" folder with defaults. however i found defaults/designviz.mentalray/medit.mat (designviz.mentalray is scheme that i'm using) but changes to that file doesn't have any effect. after that i've tried to activate designviz.mr scheme again and restart 3dsmax, still no effect.
I use few image types, 90% are png, the rest 10% are gif/jpeg. When I want to edit an image, I can start the editor from the context menu of the image icon and with almost all the images the default editor is Paint.Net but not for the gif images. how to set it in the registry but ... I didn't found the clean way to do it.
How Paint.net is registering itself as the default editor for the other image types? How can add to this list the gif type?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCan you have more "Object Defaults" then there is standards?
I ask because everytime I create an additional one and don't have a standard for it to link to and I save the styles it disappears.
By default a double click on a attribute opens the "enhanced" function. I don't want this, I want the "normal" attribute editor, is there a variable to change ? Or another way ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so I have x3 and recently installed the trial for x5, since the trial ran out i removed it and carried on as before, this however has left a few things buggy, the first was file assocation which was easier to fix, the other biggie is that I seem unable to edit any bitmaps using the usual method. How do I re-enable the bitmap editing? and if i have the choice I'd rather it opened photoshop to edit the file opposed to corel paint if this is at all possible?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt was a bit of a surprise to find that none of my 32-bit plugins would work with Photoshop CS4 x64. Most seem to work fine in the 32-bit version of PS though. View 6 Replies View Related have most versions of PS but I prefer CS4. I am a photographer. Forever CS4 was the default when opening photos. Something happened yesterday and now when I double click on a photo to open it it opens but not in CS4. Not sure what version it's opening in. But I want it to open in 4.
I can right click each and every time to open in 4 but I open tons of photos all day long and that takes too long. How can I again make it so that CS4 is the default?
Windows 7 64 bit.Worked fine until a couple of days ago. Now suddenly the only way I can open files in CC instead of CS6 Extended is if I open PS CC through the icon I had on the taskbar and then use File Open.
When I try to set the file types to open in PS CC, the CC icon no longer appears on the list and if I browse to it and click on the exe file, it opens CS6 instead. Windows Explorer seems to not know it's there and treats it as PS CS6.
I have no idea if there was an update that started this as the CC control panel keeps resetting and I loose the history on it.Minor, but it adds maybe 30 minutes a day which is a problem. I need CS6 installed for the Plug-Ins I use so I can't remove it yet. I'd consider this a meaningful bug.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor several years I have been managing my photos in iphoto and using PSE as an external editor for editing images. I currently use PSE 11 on an iMac with OS X Lion (version 10.7.5). My iPhoto Library is divided into a number of sub-libraries via iPhoto Library Manager. I have unexpectedly encountered a problem attempting to edit a RAW image (in this case a .NEF image from a Nikon D200) in a sub-library containing images shot in 2007. When I right click on the image and select Edit in External Editor the image opens in PSE 11 Editor, but it opens as a jpeg and not as an .NEF image. This is in spite of the fact that in iPhoto/Preferences/Advanced/RAW Photos I have checked "Use RAW when using external editor."
As an alternative approach I tried dragging and dropping the RAW image into the PSE 11 Editor icon in the Dock, but I got the same result.
